Sorry, I couldn't fit the choice of "other" on here, so if your MOTY is something else, just say what you think it is. I'm going with the Mania 3-way.

Cactus Jack vs Randy Orton hardcore match Backlash but we still got 6 months left to see what the WWE can offer then this poll should have been made.

WMXX Three Way but that match pales in comparison to the real match of the year, Joe/Punk.

God, I can't wait to see Punk/Joe. Any idea on when that comes out on video?

Likely since RF is split with them, it will have quicker release...so likely August.

Benoit vs Michaels from the rescent Raw is the Match of the Year. Given a very good ending it would've been the best match in quite a long time.

I doubt it.

Stop being a fan boy...Joe/Punk was straight up the better match by a good margain. More Drama, More Emotion, More intellgent Psychology, purpose, sense of urgency that no other match has ever approached before. A Match that went sixty minutes and had the entire crowd on their feet for 45 minutes intensely going back and forth "Let's go Joe, Let Go Punk". Didn't need blood to signify "toughness" like Shawn and Trips had to bust out, the pure sweat soaking the canvas as the 120 degree heat alone did the job there. Every move had a meaning, no unneccesary spots save for a two minute segment with a fan that was priceless. This match is the ONLY time you will ever hear a crowd chant "we want headlocks" because there was a reason for the headlocks.

Benoit will always have "it was emotional to see him win" but he won't have 2004 MATCH OF THE YEAR.

Well, the topic does say WWE MOTY, but goddamn, I really wanna see Punk/Joe. Until I see it though, the Mania 3-way is my MOTY so far.

Since Wrestlemania XX is around the 3 1/2* star mark that would mean Joe/Punk would have to be extreamly high to be considerably ahead. As with every ROH match I've ever seen they're always overrated. Yes, I don't like ROH because of moral reasons, the crowd, the ring and the smart mark announcing but that doesn't change my views on a match. I know if I ever do see this match I will probably find it overrated.

Are you serious?? NO OTHER MATCH IN THE HISTORY OF WRESTLING? What do they do up there? Take everyone to some facility and brainwash everyone? Or try to rape them if they don't become ROH fanboys?

The only reason the crowd is chanting "We want headlocks" is because a lot of them are marks for themselves.

I agree that the catchy "smark" chants that the fans do can get annoying.

No more so then "you sold out"

That's can sometimes be a phrase for fans to be marks of themselves but it's not as bad as "We want headlocks".

And I read that the ROH fans shat all over a fourway match just because someone in the match's name was Superstar Steve.

watch the match, Punks purpose was to get Joe down in the headlock but Joe kept fighting out with his strikes, the fans picked up on it, being behind Punk, they wanted punk to slap on the headlock...

we weren't chanting we want headlocks to be cute or smark...but because it had a meaning.

and that he wasn't good in any way whatsoever.

But still, show a little respect to the other 3 in the match. So it isn't a good match, but at least they are trying.

I can't watch the match because I don't support ROH.

Still though, this has got to be one of the first ever "WE want headlock" chants. Now is everybody there chanting it to be smart? No, but it's the inherent smartness of the chant along with other people than going along with it that helps it grow. People chanting "We want headlocks" allows them to feel good about themselves because it makes them think they're smart for picking up on a hold that some fans would think is boring. They're loving the fact that they can appreciate something that is the "exact opposite of a spotfest". The chants kind of remind me of an intelligence security blanket. Than factor in the originality of the quote and you have all the more reason for the fans thinking they're smart using this chant.

They liked Hydro and other three but Superstar Steve had some "hype" or whatever and didn't come out strong...

The WrestleMania XX Triple-Threat gets my vote there.

And I haven't seen the London/Noble Velocity match, of course.

From WWE, Guerrero-Lesnar

Just an excellent half hour of great psychology from both men. Best WWE match in a long time. Much better than the criminally over rated triple threats between Benoit-Michaels-Hunter.

Overall, I'd give the nod to Bryan Danielson vs. Homicide from ROH 4/24. Although I haven't seen Joe/Punk, La Parka-Hijo Del Santo or Gen Next/Rave-Walters-Briscoes yet.

Like Jericho/Michaels did to some, the victor in that match killed it for me, and it puts far below the 'Mania Three Way.

I voted Orton/Foley, because in ten years it'll be the only match from this year that people will care about. It MADE Orton.

WMXX 3-way for me, without a doubt. I've seen all matches listed here except Noble vs London. Is it really that good? Did WWE really let them go for a decent amount of time on TV?

About 10 minutes, but they crammed more into that 10 minutes than some guys can in 30 mintues. I'll be reviewing the match soon for my Random Match Reviews, if you wanna check it out.

I'm not so sure that's even the Raw match of the year so far. With the Evolution vs Benoit & Friends 8 man tag from before Backlash, and the six man match from this past monday.

Some great matches, but with it's top-notch construction and awesome entertainment factor, the Triple-Threat at WrestleMania XX does it for me.
