The NBA Finals was FIXED, and I'll prove it.

I still can't believe the Lakers were DOMINATED since the outset of the series. It will go down as one of the biggest mysteries in professional sports. Nobody, and I mean nobody in the world predicted the Pistons to win this series, and not only do they win, they subvert the Lakers dynasty with unmerciful ferocity. I don't know...something doesn't smell right here. I mean, during the regular season year, the Lakers were the number one team in free throw shooting, and Shaq has never stolen the tip once in the previous games, let alone do it four times in a row. And, before this series, the Lakers rarely, if ever, got into foul trouble early. And like a poster on this board mentioned, "If the Pistons get to the Finals, they'll become NBA champs." Maybe he knew that the NBA was not going to let the Lakers, with an accused rapist at the helm, win the NBA championship. Maybe he knew the NBA would not reward someone like Payton, who pouts incessantly. Maybe he knew that Karl Malone, the dirtiest player in the game, would not be allowed to reap the benefits of an NBA championship. Maybe he knew that the Lakers made it to the Finals for one reason -- to seem like the indomitable team, only to be forcefully ousted by the underdog Detroit Pistons a la a passing of the torch as seen in Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania 6. Maybe he knew, that because of political differences, Jackson would not be allowed to eclipse Auerbach in championships. Maybe he knew that the league was desperate to ensure that an Eastern team won the championship so that it wouldn't be seen as inferior any longer, which of course, would boost overall business.

I'm gonna say it right now -- this series was fixed from the get go. Either the Lakers were in on it, or the referees were told to make it almost impossible for the Lakers to pull off a victory. And you knew it wasn't going back to Los Angeles, because the NBA championship presentation would've been much more effective taking place at Auburn Hills, where the backdrop of 22,000 fans would exclaim a new turning point in the National Basketball Association, a greater accentuation placed on the intricacies of defense. The NBA has wanted to institute this new technical and methodical DEFENSIVE STYLE for a long time, because it tells a better story on the court, and decreases the chances of a player injuring himself due to undue exertion on the offensive end -- in the form of dunks, and one on one basketball (read: Kobe Bryant). Not only does this new, working class style ingratiate itself to common fans, but it distances basketball from the players that bring the NBA negative publicity (read: Kobe Bryant). This is akin to the new style that WWE has recently implemented.

The NBA is a business, and there was more money to be made -- in the future -- with a very convincing Pistons victory. The Finals was rigged, and I'm sure that the Lakers personnel was handsomely compensated for doing the job and giving the Pistons the rub.

This is very shocking, I know. Feel free to take a few deep breaths before going on with your normal, routinal daily activities.

A-ha! I forgot to mention that whenever guys like Malone and Bryant drove into the lane and were subsequently mugged, no foul was called, whereas if Payton, for instance, even thought about touching Chauncey Billups 35 feet away from the basket, a foul was called. In essence, ticky-tack fouls were called on the Lakers, making it impossible for them to play the SAME aggressive, defensive basketball that the Pistons played. A double-standard was at work, here, and it sure smelled rancid.

I thought you said you were going to prove it?

Seems like rampant speculation, conspiracy theories and paranoia.

Damn, you guys don't get it. I'm supposed to be an incredulous Lakers fan in shock that a team blessed with the divine gold and purple didn't win the championship that surely belonged to them. I'm supposed to be a Lakers fan making farfetched excuses, because any loss can surely be attributed to the "fact" that the Lakers "weren't feeling it" or the Lakers "didn't feel like bringing it." I'm supposed to be a Lakers fan who thinks of numerous excuses for why my team lost, none of which give credit to the opposing team.

Get it?

Can we ban him for rampant trolling yet?

He's like a bad mix of Johnson and rawmvp. A Lakers fan that makes asinine claims and then when called on it says "Haha guys! Just kidding!"

What fucked up mad scientist decided to splice there DNA?

I made the prediction, but what Vitamn X doesn't show in his sig, since it doesn't fit is WHY I think Detroit would have won. It's somewhere in the NBA Playoffs Thread. But it wasn't fixed. The Pistons were the better team. They played like the better team, and when you get lucky for 3 rounds in a row like the Lakers have, (Jimmy Jackson/Steve Francis' shots don't go in, Fisher's shot, Cassell/Hudson injured) and you run into a team has well conditioned mentally AND physically, you will not win. The Pistons have been through more in the East. They took it to seven games with the Nets, lost in triple OT and won a game 6 on the road to take it to Game 7. They had a TOUGH series against the Pacers that could have gone either way. After facing a great defensive team like the Pacers, things look easier. The Lakers are NOT a good defensive team. Don't give me this crap about them not trying on defense. Any team in the NBA can try playing defense for five minutes and look unstoppable. The Lakers are not a good defensive team. The Pistons, this year have broken numerous defensive records. They are IMO a top 3 Defense team of all time, if not the best. Give me other teams that have held teams under 70 points as many times during the shot clock era. And that's where it all was.

The Lakers have NEVER faced a defense like this. Don't give me this crap about the Spurs. The Spurs are a good defensive team, but the Pistons are much better. The Pistons are quicker, longer, and more active. The Lakers were baffled and there was nothing they can do about it.

Fact is, Pistons won. There is no consipracy. There was no conspiracy when the Lakers out free throw shot the Nets, Sixers, and Pacers. There was no conspiracy when Fisher's shot was counted but Baron Davis prayer wasn't. There was no conspiracy when Samaki Walkers half court shot was counted in Game 4 of the 2002 NBA Western Conference Finals, which eventually led to Horry's 3 point shot. There was no conspiracy when Kobe elbowed the shit out of Bibby right in front of the refs face, and Bibby was called for the foul. There was no conspiracy when Wally Z moved out of Pargo's way when he was going for a layup and getting the foul called on him in the 2003 First Round Game 3 matchup between the T'Wolves and Lakers. No conspiracy when the refs tried to take over that game either, and even the commentators pointing it out. No conspiracy when Shaq elbows the shit out of his defenders, and there is NO conspiracy here.

The Detroit Pistons are your 2004 NBA Champions.

I like that. Because it makes me think of The Lakers as this big giant that was getting wailed on but couldn't do anything about it and had to sit there and try to get it's hands up to stop the beating.

They were helpless! They were a school bully that got punched in the face by the nerd and realized that he had nothing on this kid.

It was glorious.

Jesus, you're trying too hard, kid. Sane, rational discussion of the Finals still goes in the proper thread.

EDIT: Opened briefly so I can laugh at Kotz.
