TNA Folder Mod

Recommended Posts

Guest Salacious Crumb

Would it be possible to get a Mod for the TNA folder. It just seems like the folder gets totally overlooked as far as Modding goes. Zack makes the occasional appearance and BPS is in and out. The folder isn't terrible or anything but there's a huge abundance of multiple threads. There's probably 10+ on Impact alone that could've been combined or whatever. I also think a folder mod would also be a good idea if the tensions between RoH and TNA fans flare up again. Just an idea.

I would have to agree with Mad Dog on this one. Basically this is just to keep the TNA folder from being identical to the mess of a WWE folder we already have.....

I agree as well. We've got some small trolling problems on occasion, and I would love to make sure it doesn't get as negative as the WWE folder. Some people who I think would be good for it include:

Dynamite Kido, as he reads it regularly enough and is quite fair in his dealings

Laz, though he's kind of reached boiling point with TNA

Slapnuts!, as he's there regularly enough

BoboBrazil, for the same reason

and if no one else wants to, I'd do it. At least until we had someone else volunteer it.

You can make all the requests you want but in the end you'll get somebody who doesn't post there often(if at all), but will do so when they get the mod powers. That's how 75% of the WWE Folder mods were chosen.

Like I said, if no one else wants it, I'll gladly do it. I post there often enough, and I would like to think I'm fair.

I think BPS is the unofficial mod of the forum. He's been a regular contributer to the folder as far back as I can remember.

TNA thread doesn't get too much traffic from what it seems, so I don't see the problem. It would be like giving the Get Your Learn On folder it's own mod, except thats 10x worse in popularity.

But the folder is starting to display a lot of the problems that the WWF folder has had at different points. Multiple threads on the same subject and it's a potential breeding ground for trolls. And say if BPS wasn't on for 3-4 days the folder is completely unmoderated unless Zack happens to wander in there. It also generates about the same amount of traffic as the indy folder and it has a folder mod as well.

What really makes the TNA folder different is that you can find threads from a week ago on the first page.

Since that's the case...combining similar threads, or all news items or whatever isn't really needed.

If you look at the top of the folder right now...there's a lot of variety in what's being talked about. From different news reports, to show opinions, to previews and whatever else.

The reason I like the TNA folder is that it moves at a good pace for keeping everything that anyone wants to discuss near the top.

It's not up to me about a folder mod...I wouldn't be opposed to one...I just think there isn't a lot that needs to be changed.

BPS, I have to agree with most of what you said....but I think this is just a precautionary thing, as people don't want it to end up like the WWE folder.....that is all.

I can be right on board with the TNA folder mod idea...the problem is finding someone who can forgo there own opinion when having to step between one of the frequent MikeSC/TNA fan or RoH fan/TNA fan throwdowns.

Honestly, I could.....but I would rather have someone else choose who it is instead of me just nominating myself.

I'd be all for Dynamite Kido being the mod.

That's not a very positive outlook.

May I ask WHY the WWE folder is so hated in these parts? There are alot of idiots (Evil Blood, Glennsoe, etc) who fill the folder with pointless thread after pointless thread, but surely there is more to why you guys despise the place so much.

that pretty much covers it.

There's more but that really hits the nail on the head.

There's alot of posters that post useless crap and treat the folder more like a chat room then a messageboard, with all that entails ("LOLRTFLMAO!! Lita sux!@11!").

And then you've got people who think they're the funniest shit ever when all they do is take away from any real conversation that's happening.

Loss, Sass, etc. have done alot to help the WWE folder but it's a losing battle. I try to post in it a few times a day but it's more of a chore than anything.

I'd like to add to what CWM said by also saying that with the bad posters you have some bad mods associated with it as well. I'm not going to name names at all, since this isn't burn people at the stake day but I will say.

Its not good to have somebody who was made a mod and rather than take time to try and change it instead calls it a shithole elsewhere.

Also not good to just place somebody in charge who often had nothing to do with the forum and has shown they shouldn't be looked upon to solve the problems.

Quite frankly the staff made mods for the WWE Forum and in alot of areas it got worse. Rather than further actual discussion it got alot of people to leave. Rather than admit to their mistakes its a "Disagree with one mod, take on a gang of them" mentality...which is why you may be better off without having any in the TNA forum. Sure, there may be extra threads...but in the very least you won't have somebody strutting about like they own the place ordering everybody to fall in line to their beliefs(basically ignoring what rules Dames made and adding their own).

So, was there a time when WWE folder was good? When everyone liked the mods, not as much pointless crap and alot of decent discussion? Or has it always been like this?

I don't think any of the TNA regulars (minus MikeSC and the RoH fanboys) would be a problem as mod. The folder is fairly small and they'd be there for mostly keeping things under control so the folder isn't totally dependant on BPS for moderation. Again if he isn't online for an extended period of time the folder is an open target.

When the board first opened I personally really enjoyed it. Alot of the gimmick posters, trolls hadn't made the transition right away so we had a few months of fun times. That's just a personal preference though.

Please don't put my name in that paragraph. I don't want even a hint of drama attached to my name...I'm reformed.

Hell, you WANT a mod who will let most anything go. I am that guy.

I'd also say that part of the reason it gets shat on is because it's fairly negative. No that there's any reason to be positive, but everyone pretty much gives up on any hope of WWE being able to put on quality material. Most other folders at least have a glimmer of hope.

Uhhh . . . Mike . . . you like *are* half the problems of the TNA folder.

No, a vigorous disdain for opposing viewpoints is the problem.

And I wouldn't permit such a problem to ruin the folder.

Its not good to have somebody who was made a mod and rather than take time to try and change it instead calls it a shithole elsewhere.

All of the WWE folder mods have put time into improving the folder. Some more than others, perhaps, but not everyone has the same amounts of time to devote. The point is that they've all been doing their jobs. The moderator logs bear this out. If they weren't doing their jobs, they'd be sacked in favor of those who would.

Besides, people making comments on another messageboard out of frustration (and the frustration is completely understandable) isn't something I'm interested in crucifying them for. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, if you will.

Rather than further actual discussion it got alot of people to leave.

Some people are unwilling to change. Some people are idiots. To both, I say good riddance.

Rather than admit to their mistakes its a "Disagree with one mod, take on a gang of them" mentality...

It depends. A lot of that had to do with the way the problems were presented. I'm not going to stand around and watch folder and global mods get pilloried over trivial things like closing and moving threads.

I'm not going to name names at all...

If you have problems with certain people, you should come out and say it, in an adult manner. The whole "I'm not going to name names" spiel doesn't do anything for your argument.

This doesn't mean they've succeeded though. If they place two hours into something but those two hours are doing things that don't further the progress of the situation then its all for not.

The moderator logs bear this out.

You might do this, so I appologise if you already do...but I hope rather than just checking the logs you go in and check what they've done. The way I see thing is everybody is here to post, but the regular posters contribute. After that the forum mods check to see that they're contributing and not actually derailing convo or causing problems. The Global Mods then go in and check to see if the forum mods are doing their job while also just glancing over what the posters are doing. From ther you and Dames are seeing of the Global Mods are doing their job, while checking in on the forum mods, while taking a glance at the actions of the posters. Best explenation would be like in the movie Casino when Robert DeNiro's character explains the function of everybody on the floor's job and in the end the eye in the sky is watching them all. You and Dames are that eye and I'm just hoping in the end you both go in and check things out rather than going by a log that says "so and so closed this thread on..." or "so and so deleted this account on...".

Besides, people making comments on another messageboard out of frustration (and the frustration is completely understandable) isn't something I'm interested in crucifying them for.  What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, if you will.

And that might go for the common poster, but in the end everbody with the word "mod" in their title is like a politician of sorts representing this site. If they speak horribly of it elsewhere than why is Joe Brown going to want to join the site? You want this place to grow and prosper, but if the people helping to run it say its shit elsewhere then people are in no way going to want to come here.

Some people are unwilling to change.  Some people are idiots.  To both, I say good riddance.

I agree, if the parties involved are causing trouble...good riddance and don't let the door hit you on the way out. However if its somebody who went there, does nothing but talk wrestling and contribute to conversation but gets frustrated because of the numerous different directions the forum is being pulled in then something has to change. Right now I see the forum being tugged in 3 different directions personally and people not knowing which side to go to. This is something that calls for alot more conversation on where you, Dames, and the mods on a whole want to see the direction in which this forum is suppose to take. From there more guidelines(not rules) and the furthering of conversation in the forum comes in. Its alot of effort, but hey...what can ya do?

It depends.  A lot of that had to do with the way the problems were presented.  I'm not going to stand around and watch folder and global mods get pilloried over trivial things like closing and moving threads.

This I agree with, if its a trivial matter then people should move on. Greatest example of people who didn't move on when they should have been would be the great Ghettoman fiasco. However if its a matter that's been brought up appropriately and you just get jumped on for it then that aint cool either. There's a big rift between mods and posters right now. Both parties I feel view the others as a whole different crop of person, when in the end they outta see that everybody posting here right now is a TSMer and when problems are brought up in a reasonable manner its because the board member cares and wants to see things run a smoothly as the mods do.

If you have problems with certain people, you should come out and say it, in an adult manner.  The whole "I'm not going to name names" spiel doesn't do anything for your argument.

Not in public on the board. People would jump in to join, then the mod would defend themself and while being out numbered mods jump in to take their fellow mod's side and it starts a shit storm that isn't needed. Its something best saved for private discussion, and I'm more than willing to talk it over in private. There are times when leaving out names saves publicly saves aloooot of headaches.

Obviously, you feel strongly about this since you keep bringing it up in unrelated topics and keep referring to me without referring to me. If you have something to say, say it, and don't beat around the bush. And I'll address it.

Of course, the mods aren't willing to listen to anyone who disagrees with them. Nope.
