Guest Korgath Report post Posted June 21, 2004 I think it would be a HUGE irony if the match makes it to an Angle DVD. Brock made Kurt look really week throughout the whole match. Hell, Kurt seemed really disoriented throughout... it was almost as if he didn't have the desire to keep his title.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2004 Well, considering what happened the day before, I'm surprised Kurt went through with the match when I don't think he should have. Him not being focused definitely hurt the match.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2004 The match had numerous flaws and didn't flow. The only thing I liked was Brock's "wasting" of one fall [being DQd] to get two pin-falls on Angle. That was smart, but shouldn't have been used at the very beginning. Maybe middle to late, like in the 40-45 minute range to show that Brock was willing to take a big gamble to get his belt back. And then they could have used it as focal point for the remainder of the match better. The ending is horrendous. Angle hits like 3 Germans on Brock and with 10 seconds left, instead of going for a pin, he locks on an Ankle Lock. With 10 seconds left or so, no person in there right mind would tap out knowing that it was only going to be 10 seconds of pain. I'd take 10 seconds of agonizing pain for the WWE title and the money that [kayfabed] would come with it. And thats besides the fact that a pinfall [3 seconds] would have been easier to achieve after 3 Germans which cause you to land on your neck/shoulders/back which could have possibly knocked Brock out and allowed him to get the 3 count. Ugh. Just thinking back to the match I can't recall many great middle match highlights or anything. The middle area was pretty much a suplex fest and stalling by Brock. And it had WAAAAY to many Angle Slams and F-5's. **3/4-***

Just call me Dan 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2004 This match very closely resembled the HBK/HHH HIAC from Bad Blood. Nothing but a WWE style brawl extended WAY too long. You would expect that from HBK/HHH, but not from those guys when matches like Eddie/Brock (NWO 2004) and Benoit/Angle(RR 03) prove that they are capable of long matches involving a lot more. It WAS a big letdown at the time, but a second viewing helped it a bit. Not bad by any means, but really not all that great.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 21, 2004 I think it would be a HUGE irony if the match makes it to an Angle DVD. Brock made Kurt look really week throughout the whole match. It was really bad. Kurt had to depend on fluke pins and DQs to get his wins, and he was jobbing easily twice like 45 seconds after that chair shot (Which in wrestling terms is forever) But instead of playing it like it was, Brock dominating Kurt, they played Brock off like a dirty rotten cheat loser who could never do it on his own. Both guys looked like shit.
