Something I just figured out about Shawn Michaels

Guest I Got Banned for Sucking

Of the 16 PPVs that he has appeared at since his return in mid-late 2002, he has been involved in the main event at 12 of them in one way or another.

He main evented SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Armageddon from 2002, he was in the '03 Rumble (the No. 1 entrant), was in Raw's main event at Backlash, at Raw's main event at Judgment Day, main evented SummerSlam, Raw's main event at Survivor Series, the '04 Rumble, and overall main evented WrestleMania XX, Backlash and this year's Bad Blood.

The thing is though, when thinking about him, you don't really think of that. I was pretty surprised when I thought about it.

cough cough........

um...... thanks for bringing that to our attention. Uh..... yeah. I don't know what to say about this, because it seems to be an epiphony rather than something that is topic-worthy.

Also if you count the elimination chambers, royal rumbles, and survivor series matches, then Jericho main evented 5 of those PPVs too.

So Shawn just main events twice as much as Jericho..... who isn't even a main eventer.

MPJ, yes, but everyone knows about Triple H hogging the main event spot when they think about him.

Kotz, I said "involved in some way or another".

And I always remembered Michaels/Triple H having the SS '02 main event slot...

The main event for SummerSlam 2002 was The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar.

The RAW main event for Judgment Day 2003 was Triple H vs. Kevin Nash.

He was in Nash's corner.

And I stand corrected about SummerSlam - I thought the Street Fight was the main event.

And Kotz, not that it matters, but Michaels' main event positions were oft hyped rather than filler (yet it still seems surprising to think of all of his PPV main events since his return).

And I consider Jericho a main eventer - he's just been unjustifiably depushed.

It makes him feel important. Duh.

Big deal, HBK main event's a lot. Of course he does. He like only wrestle's when he's in the main event. Almost all of his match's are built up as big, special things. And a two year 1001 match program with the perenial Main Eventer can't hurt.

No.

He didn't main event SummerSlam. He was in the Rumble for, like, 30 seconds. If you're counting that then Tommy Dreamer main evented a ppv. Raw's main event at Backlash was Rock/Golberg so you're wrong there. Judgment Day was Triple H/Nash, Shawn just brawled with Flair. Raw's main event at SurSer was H/Goldberg, and his Rumble match wasn't the main event.

So he's main evented:

SurS 02

Armageddon 02

SumS 03

WM 04

Backlash 04

BB 04

6 ppvs. 2 were triple threat matches, 2 were Elimination Chamber matches, adn 2 were singles matches. Huge number of main events there. BTW, all of these matches contained Triple H. Brock Lesnar has main evented more shows in that time.

And it served as the Raw main event as well, since that was Brock's last PPV as a part of Raw.

Actually, Brock had already jumped to SD!

No, Brock jumped to Smackdown the night after SummerSlam (remember the "taking the heart of Raw" business?), which necessitated the creation of the World Heavyweight Championship.

Are you sure?

I always thought that Brock jumped to SD some time after Vengeance (he faced Hogan), then when he won the belt, he walked out on Raw to remain exclusive to SD!

At the end of the following night's Raw at Madison Square Garden, HHH and Undertaker had a #1 contender's match, and after the match (can't remember who won), Stephanie was seen welcoming Lesnar into her limousine to go off to Smackdown for good. Then the Undertaker followed Lesnar to Smackdown as well. Next week, HHH claimed Lesnar was dodging him and Bischoff presented him with the World Heavyweight Title.

Interesting - I missed Raw and SmackDown! for a few weeks there.

Mike, he was in the Backlash '03 title picture match though, I stand corrected about SummerSlam, HE WAS FUCKING ASSOCIATED WITH THE JUDGMENT DAY '03 MAIN EVENT, and I think Team Bischoff VS Team Austin could still be considered a main event.

But I've been reminded of a few things, and the Rumble is technically the main event, making it a crack in the floorboards for someone such as Tommy Dreamer.

Mike? When'd he enter this?

Michaels wasn't in the title scene at Backlash '03. HHH and Nash were. Nash just grabbed a couple of other HHH-feudees and HHH nabbed some buds of his, and they had the six-man. I'd hardly call that being in the title scene.

Yeah, but he was Nash's buddy through it all. I guess you could call that being in the title picture.

Wait a minute. You think I'm that MikeSC guy because I have the Rock as my avatar don't you? Ha.

But Rock vs Goldberg was the main event, not the 6 man tag. It doesn't matter if the champ was in it or not, it still wasn't the main event.

IB, your thread has failed.

There is discussion. But I wish I could retract it.

Shit Dark, I thought you were Mike too. Sorry about that.

But I think Kotz accidentally addressed me.

HE WAS FUCKING ASSOCIATED WITH THE JUDGMENT DAY '03 MAIN EVENT

By that logic, Ric Flair was also associated with Raw's main event. In the end, it's a moot point, because Flair and Michaels brawled to the back before the HHH vs. Nash match started.

You're right. And that would be significant had I been bringing to mind all of his main event spots/associations in a designated period of time.

Regardless, Rock was on RAW anyways by virtue of his being Undisputed Champion.

I love watching IB look like jackass...it's so easy but yet so fun.

He went and made himself a fool when he should have just checked his statement and that would have taken 2 minutes. He headlined Six PPVs and the rumble doesn't count as a HBK match.

He was NOT involved in any shape or form with the title picture from Rumble 2003 to 12/29. He was in the E.C match at slam but that doesnt mean he was in the picture, it was always Berg/HHH.

Brock Lesnar Headlined nine (if we use IB's theory) times out of a possible 17 ppvs since his title match with The Rock. That's a staggerin percentage for someone not named HHH.

Summerslam 2002

Unforgiven 2002

No Mercy 2002

Royal Rumble 2003

WMXIX (first time two workers not named HHH, Rock, Austin or Taker both headlined since Shawn/Shamrock DXiyh 97)

Judgement Day 2003

Vengence 2003

No Mercy 2003

No Way Out 2004

You know, the scary thing about that is that it's true. I thought hard for like 10 minutes and couldn't find any two workers who headlined a PPV besides those guys you mentioned.

Yes, correction is in order. I confused Lesnar taking the WWE Undisputed Title to Smackdown for good with him leaving Raw for Smackdown.

I still could have sworn there was a Lesnar/Rock staredown on Raw at some point.
