Something I just figured out about Shawn Michaels

Recommended Posts

Yes, correction is in order. I confused Lesnar taking the WWE Undisputed Title to Smackdown for good with him leaving Raw for Smackdown.

I still could have sworn there was a Lesnar/Rock staredown on Raw at some point.

There was.

Brock bought a ticket to Raw two weeks in a row.

Brock and Rock were also both on Raw the night after Vengeance. Brock ignored Rocky as he walked down the ramp, then at the end of the show (before leaving to SD) he came out smiling at Rock, before throwing the belt at his feet. God I loved that feud.

WMXIX (first time two workers not named HHH, Rock, Austin or Taker both headlined since Shawn/Shamrock DXiyh 97)

You know, the scary thing about that is that it's true. I thought hard for like 10 minutes and couldn't find any two workers who headlined a PPV besides those guys you mentioned.

hell, if you insert Shawn into that equation...you have to go back to like 1995 for it.

Yep...Forgot bout Shawn's brief hiatus there...other then that...1996 was all Shawn save for the Undertaker headlined rumble.

While their match ruled all kinds of ass I wouldn't exactly call it a "feud", much less a good one. Why exactly did they fight? Because Brock won the KOTR. Did Brock win? Yes. Did they interact or have a rematch after? Nope. Pretty simple. The highlight of the pre-SummerSlam stuff was when Michaels superkicked Brock and I swear that Brock bumped 5 feet backwards and fell out of the ropes.

Rock was just playing his usual role of transitional champion and helping put the young guy over.

HBK wasn't in the main event at the October PPV (IYH: Buried Alive). HBK didn't even wrestle on the PPV broadcast (he wrestled Goldust in a dark match).

Your right...but the UT headlined that card...So only One PPV since Bret/Bulldog December 1995 to March 2003 did not have HBK, Trips, Austin, Rock or Taker in the main event.

That is a LONG ass length of time...also factor in that all five of those guys took Lengthy sabbaticals at some point (HBK's back injury took him out 4 years, Trips Quad tear took him out for 8 months, Austin missed a year with the neck injury, Rock with the movie schedule and Taker took 2 leave of absences in that period for injuries).

One more. :D

Diesel vs Bret at the Feb 96 PPV.

Yeah, it's a long time, because the new generation of main eventers should have started in 2001, or at the latest 2002, not 2004.

Ahh well...according to IB idiotic theory of "main eventing"...UT's interference means he headlined that one too.

He never said 'main eventing', he said "has been involved in the main event". Whether or not "has been involved in the main event" is or any worth is being discussed...

Yes, "being present in" is obviously not "main eventing", I was just trying to bring to attention his main event associations in one way or another in that period of time.

Nik, it does matter because if he's involved in a non-wrestling role, he's still in the title picture.

Name 1 world title match HBK was in between Armageddon 2002 and Summerslam 2003.

Title picture.

He was always there, especially around Backlash/Judgment Day '03.

NO HE WASN'T!

He was in a long lengthy feud with Jericho from the day after Armageddon to The June Blow off!

You fucking twit...Just because you hang out and tag team with the #1 contender...it doesn't mean you were in the title picture.

If that was the case...Duggan was in the title picture in 1990.

Bullshit. He wasn't feuding with Jericho constantly from WrestleMania XIX to that episode of Raw - they were just never on good terms, which came in handy for the blow-off.

How many World Title matches did HBK have between Armageddon 2002 and Summerslam 2003?

Ummm...

Despite the constant mentions Jericho made about the match...the two weeks of hype...

The fact Jericho was asked to be on the team by HHH because he knew he wanted to get back at Shawn...

Look you idiot, you have proven countless times you don't know anything and made yourself look like a complete jackass about 10 times already in this thread alone.

Shawn was not in the World Title Picture from The Royal Rumble to 12/29 save for the twos weeks before Summerslam where they were selling the Orton/HBK that went on for two more months.

Being in the title picture indicates that you were challenging for the title and making your intentions clear you were after the title...

From the HBK/Jericho segment the week after Armageddon to those two weeks before Slam and that next day to 12/29...Shawn was never ONCE involved in the picture.

MO1M: This concept wasn't originally about title matches... It was about main events, although they usually are main events and I stand corrected about some.

The point was the way that he always just manages to be slotted-in there at the last minute.

Choken: Was Jericho feuding with Michaels at Judgment Day? Bad Blood? I'll give you Backlash, but that's the only PPV between WrestleMania and the Raw blow-off.

As for your second part... See the first paragraph.

because he is an established player and he was only "slotted" in...ONCE.

Summerslam. It was supposed to be Orton/Shawn but since Hunter went lame...he got thrown in the title match.

All the other times, it was a deliberate plan.

I wonder if Michaels/Orton at SummerSlam would have delivered better results than Michaels/Orton at Unforgiven?

it would have been the same match...all delaying it did was add more build up to it.

That match's build-up started very late - if it hadn't been for that slap to the face from Michaels to Orton, no casual fan would've had a fucking clue as to why they were feuding up to that point.

And it probably would've been better at SummerSlam, considering that people were expecting a good show and it's one of the big four.

Then again, Vince probably figured the buyrate would already be there, so who gives a shit if the match sucks?

He interfered in the legends match first.

Isn't that what started the whole thing and then interfered in the Hollywood Jericho match...

That's twice Orton interfered in a big hbk match...simple enough reason...

right and if that was the case...then having it at Slam would make it a more disapointing match then it already was at Unforgiven and to be honest, before the foley match...That match was Orton's ONLY good meaningful match (the val matches dont count)

Some might say that the SummerSlam match was meaningful, but it wasn't, because Orton's involvement there was only a part of him being shoved down our throats at that time and the notion that him being put into the Elimination Chamber, filler or not, would give him the rub.

It wasn't really a Randy Orton Match.

I still think they should have put Flair in there...and sell that everyone in the match was a former world champion.

Maybe they're saving Flair's title (match) involvement since joining Evolution (bar one incident) for something down the track?
