Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Were the Press Conferences in PWI fake or legit. i think the kerry von erich one and the melanie pillman one are legit but some i seriously question.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted April 25, 2002 I vaguely remember RVD talking one time about how they are fake. It was a few years ago, but he said he didn't want his fans to be fooled into thinking they were real or something like that.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Nowadays, I'm not sure, since the mags cater to the "smart crowd" as opposed to WWF magazine, etc. But I'm pretty sure the majority of the press conferences in PWI were made up to establish/add to a current storyline, much like their stories and coverage did. Guest areacode212 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 You mean stuff like "Shut up, Apter! Only Eddie Ellner knows what's up!"? I'm pretty sure those were all made up.
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted April 27, 2002 PWI is a mix of smart and kayfabe now. In the year in review, they had a pic of candido with his hand at his ear and a chair over his head and the caption said "not only can i do the hand thing, but i can also no-sell a chair shot just like hogan"
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted April 27, 2002 "You mean stuff like "Shut up, Apter! Only Eddie Ellner knows what's up!"? I'm pretty sure those were all made up." That cracked me up, man sometimes the mark days were good days.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 28, 2002 I remember reading in WOW magazine about how the wrestlers knew that they were in "Press Conference," but they would let the writer do whatever they wanted and quote them. They figured the writers could keep kayfabe and make it sound good.
Guest Report post Posted April 30, 2002 I find the mix REALLY annoying. If I wanted kayfabe, I'd buy WWF mark sheets like Raw magazine, you know?
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 2, 2002 The press conferences with the big stars were probably fake, but I remember them interviewing the Lightining Kid in 92, there is no reason for that one not to be real.
