Widescreen/Fullscreen

Does anyone actually want full screen? Does it serve any purpose. I am pissed, I found Lost in Translation previously viewed for 7 bucks and all they had left was full screen. I bought it, but looking back, I am kinda angry I did. Cheer me up.

I like it when family members buy me DVDs I hate in Full Screen. That way I have an excuse to take them back and get something else without hurting their feelings.

The worst part of it is that if there is an option Blockbuster will ONLY stock comedies in fullscreen. Which is why I take my business to Hollywood Video if I want to rent something...

Bull.....I have a small screen and I still get Widescreen. I hate Fullscreen. I like seeing the whole picture the way it was meant to be.

Exactly. If you aren't watching the same movie that the director made, then why bother?

If you have a small tv, getting widescreen is the biggest waste of time on the planet.

What this means, then, is that you'll have to get a bigger TV. It doesn't have to be that big either - 19-20" televisions aren't very expensive and it's not bad at all for widescreen...

I've watched widescreen on a 7 inch in dash monitor and had no problems, so that's isn't true.

So, how long until some dingleberry comes in and says "Who cares if it's Full SCREEN or Widescreen? I have a regular TV AND a WIDESCREEN TV. I don't CARE which one I buy. I Swear people who care about something Like this are Anal bitches!"

Personally, I prefer widescreen. Unless a DVD is supposed to be full screen (such as WWE DVDs, some TV shows), I'll only buy the widescreen version.

As for trying to cheer up Chevy, pretend that you're watching this movie in widescreen, while bitch-slapping the next fullscreen advocating clown-shoe to come into this thread.

Why are full screen's made?

For soccer moms, old people and people who don't understand what widescreen is.

Basically Fullscreen is made to not alienate the people who still think "why are these black bars covering parts of the screen, OMG i'm missing parts of the movie".

It is best when the DVD gives the option of fullscreen or widescreen.

What insight.

I like it also when it has both FS and WS included. Not that I want to watch the FS version, but it comes in handy when showing people the difference between the two versions when they don't get what you just try explaining to them.

I think they should enlarge that box on the back of the cover that says "This film has been modified to fit your TV screen" and show pictures to explain to people who aren't aware of the greatness that is widescreen.

No it isn't, because then they have to skimp on the extras to make room for both cuts.

Thirteen has the FS and WS option with a good amount of extras.

Why are full screen's made?

Nobody wants to watch a movie with 5 inch black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

They would take that over half the picture on the sides being chopped off.

I feels for ya, James. I work at a Rogers Video store here in Ontario and I wanna bitch-smack all the customers who don't pick widescreen. Not only that but the retards then call back and complain that they didn't want widescreen even though they picked it.

Fucking humans.

You dont understand the hatred some of the older people have for Widescreen. Its basically the idea that they bought a so and so inch tv and half the screen is blank. They care more about that then they do the fact that half the movie is missing. I know for a fact my mother hates widescreen as I had to take a Widescreen DVD I got her back for a fullscreen, and when she came over one night I had to use the ZOOM button to put my Widescreen movie into psuedo Full Screen mode, which is about 100% worse since it enlarges the pixelation and makes everything grainy. Plus, she stopped watching most of the NBC shows that do their shows in psuedo widescreen because of the black bars (even though on my 27 inch TV they are like less than an inch high and I think she has the same size TV as I do).

I preffer WS, mainly because the captions don't interfere with the movie (they are usually presented in the bottom black bar).

Yes, I use CC. Flame away.

First, I love you for bringing up Fletch. Fletch cures sadness.

Secondly, I went back to a different location of Roger's Video and they replaced my full screen. I think the video clerk thought I was hot. Regardless, all is better in Bankyland. The only other Widescreen I have is a PV of T3. I'm gonna try to hit them up again. That damn cover, the difference between ws and fs was so subtle I didn't even notice which one I picked up. it wasn't until I after I watched it a few months later that I noticed it. Its really not a great movie anyway so I shan't complain.
