TNA News and Notes

NWA:TNA's website announced that Kid Kash has suffered a broken tibula in his leg and will be unable to compete at tomorrow's Second Anniversary show in Nashville, TN. AJ Styles issued an open challenge for anyone to challenge him for the X-Division championship at the PPV. Kash had a cast on last week's PPV, so the break happened before then although it was hoped he would be cleared to work by this week's PPV. Call me crazy, but I'd love to see them put Jerry Lynn in that slot, as that's the match that put the X-Division on the map.

Vince Russo was interviewed by his fan website VinceRusso.net on 6/19. He said that with the two shows a week now, they are going week to week in terms of storylines. Russo noted that he is again working on his much talked about book, but will be adding chapters about his work in WCW and NWA:TNA. I'm real interested in seeing how he explains his version of WCW. He says that if he wasn't handcuffed by TBS, they would be beating WWE in the rating right now. Russo noted that he wasn't sure if TNA could be a player on just PPV, but the Fox Sports Network changes everything. In regard to the Roddy Piper interview where he was blamed for Owen Hart's death, he says that he didn't know Piper was there and he hated Hart's name being used in that regard. He also said that he was sitting at home, wanting out of TNA because they weren't using him and were about ti bring in Hulk Hogan when he found religion. He said that he can understand people will think it's a work but claims its not. You can read the entire interview by clicking here.

Dusty Rhodes was interviewed by video game website IGN to promote the new Legends of Wrestling videogame. In discussing TNA, Rhodes praises some of the talent including AJ Styles, Raven, and Ron Killings. He noted that the FOX show is going to help, but if it was up to him he'd want it in a primetime slot on Monday nights. You can't argue that logic as the strategy worked before. NWA:TNA pamphlets were mailed out to a number of cable subscribers this week. I know of four people in the New York area who received them yesterday and today, three of which aren't wrestling fans. That's a smart way to try and gain new viewers. The pamphlet folds out into a TNA poster.

The pamphlets are a great idea, IMO.
