Guest Genecide1 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 For me at least there are a few and it's hard for me to narrow them down to just one. Therefore I shall list them all in the order in which I remember them, and the way I saw them as a navy brat going from town to town whenever my father would be reassigned. 1. Sting fighting Vader for the very first time at the Great American Bash 92 I think it was: Going into the match at least I figured there was no way Sting was going to lose to a guy who had broken his ribs ( a perfect old-school storyline and something the WWF needs to go back to every once in a while) and then you saw him get absolutely decimated by the Baby Bull but still never quit until his body failed him after getting powerbombed straight to hell. 2. Sting leading his team to victory over the Dangerous Alliance: Right while Vader was making his presence known and demanding a world title shot Sting was involved in Wargames against the Dangerous Alliance, and while the Dangerous Alliance had Arn Anderson, Steve Austin, Bobby Eaton, Rick Rude, and Larry Zybysko, Sting got stuck with Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, and Nikita Koloff. I mean how are Sting and Ricky Steamboat supposed to win Wargames with that kind of deadweight dragging them to the depths like an aircraft carrier loaded down with too many planes? Yet still they won. Dat's it for now. If i remember more I will try and think of them
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 I'm a huge Sting mark. As I got older, he's one of two guys I still mark out for (Ric Flair being the other). Some of my favorite Sting moments are.... 1. Sting beating Flair for the World Title at The Great American Bash '90. 2. The entire Sting/Rick Rude feud. It didn't last too long, as the Dangerous Alliance would soon be born. Although Rude & Sting still wrestled a lot over the course of two years (late '91 & '92). 3. Sting vs. the Dangerous Alliance. Great stuff there. WCW was producing some great TV during that time. 4. Sting vs. Vader; Great American Bash '92. BRUTAL! I've never seen a guy take such a beating during a match. Not many wrestlers would agree to get the shit kicked out of them. When Sting & Vader wrestled, you knew they wouldn't disappoint. They never had a bad match against each other. 5. Sting vs. Ric Flair; The Matches! They wrestled A LOT, but I was always glued to the TV watching them go at it.
Guest Genecide1 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 here's the trick about the Sting-Flair Rivalry: There have only been a couple of times when they were partners and it was only to save the company from some big trouble, or for Flair to continue proving just how dumb Sting was. I was a big mark for him too but even I had to admit that the "Stinger" was an idiot
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Sting vs Flair at the 1st Clash of Champions is a match that I will never forget. I think this was his first title shot at Ric Flair, he had almost every thing going for him, JJ Dillion was in a cage over the ring so that he would not be a factor in the match. But the match was a draw, eventually going to the celebrity judges for the decision. Sting defending WCW from the Outsiders from the nWo. His confrontation of Scott Hall & Kevin Nash was a mark out moment. Sting vs Great Muta and Sting vs Cactus Jack were some of my favorites.
Guest Genecide1 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Yeah it was cool because you realized early on when Sting was dealing with the NWO that this wouldn't end well for him
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Sting vs. Flair on the last Nitro, it just embodied everything about what WcW was.
Guest Crasper Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Aforementioned stuff was good. One of my favourites was when he descended from the ceiling and beat the tar out of the nWo at Uncensored 97. Up until that point it wasn't too clear whether he was in cahoots with them or not, and had been hanging around with recent nWo inductee Randy Savage. But when he came down, it was clear who's side he was on, and blew the roof off the building. The build-up to the Sting-Hogan match was great...shame they cocked it all up when they got there. Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Sting v Rude was one of my favourite feuds ever. I think people tend to forget how good Sting was due to his pretty nondiscript late 90s stuff.
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted April 25, 2002 The final Nitro when Sting took on Flair.
Guest Singular Report post Posted April 25, 2002 1. When the Fake Sting attacked Lex Luger and seemingly joined the NWO. I was a huge fan of the NWO at the time, and thought it was awesome that Sting turned heel and joined. Then of course it turned out to be a fake and the Sting I once thought was cool turned into the Crow. 2. Sting and Vader. All of their matches were kick ass. I have always been a Vader mark, and nobody brought out the best in Vader like Sting and Flair. I can still remember Sting in the helicopter searching for the dreaded "White Castle of FEAR". 3. Sting and Flair on the final Nitro. If that was Stingers last match, then all the better. I only wished they would have let the real Sting wrestle instead of the Crow. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 I have to say the final nitro too. The match wasn't the best piece of work ever but I loved every second of it.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 I liked when Sting defeated Lex Luger at WCW SuperBrawl II and when Sting's Squadron defeated the Dangerous Alliance at WCW WrestleWar 1992. Thanks.
Guest Genecide1 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 I liked when Sting led his own personal Bataan Death March against the Dangerous Alliance and did it not because of personal vengeance but just because he knew that it was the right thing to do. He may have been the last of the truly virtuous babyfaces because Steve Austin wouldn't walk into a building if it didn't have something personal to do with him. By the way does anyone know the specifics involving Nikita Koloff feuding with the Dangerous Alliance?
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Nikita Koloff was in that match because they didn't feel that Marcus Bagwell wasn't as experienced as him,so they wouldn't put him in the main event. Thanks.
Guest Genecide1 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 ok. that was it?
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Well I'm not completely sure but I don't really remember Nikita Koloff having anything to do with the Dangerous Alliance angle so I think that's the reason. Thanks.
Guest Genecide1 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 That makes no sense because every member of Sting's Squadron ostensibly had to have some beef with the Dangerous Alliance or else they wouldn't have been invited to play in the "Match Beyond". Now I know Rude must have hit on Steamboat's wife and then broke the "Dragon's" nose when Steamboat tried to defend her honor and everyone knows how Sting was dragged into this whole situation. Hell even Rhodes and Windham were brought into it because of their feud with Anderson and Zbysko, the Enforcers. But what was Nikita doing there? Did it have something to do with Austin or maybe Eaton?
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Where is old Nikita these days? I remember the Sting/Nikita v Vader/Super Invader feud. That was great
Guest Genecide1 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 he's probably still around doing independent gigs
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Nikita is a preacher. I belive he has a website. He has hair on his head.
Guest Jericholic82 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Nikita was involved, because he had recently come back as a face and became Sting's good friend. When Vader hurt Sting, Nikita fought Vader on Sting's behalf. So basically they were pushing Nikita as a top face. I remember almost all of the Dangerous Alliance Angle, cuz I was really into WCW at the time (though I was still a WWF mark).
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 27, 2002 Oh ok,I knew there had to be some true reason that he was in the match I remember at the WCW SuperBrawl II post show Press Conference the Dangerous Alliance came in and they were beating up on Sting and all of a sudden Nikita Koloff was in the middle of it clothslining people,so I knew there had to be some real reason why he was in the match. Thanks.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted April 27, 2002 Sting in the middle of beating the hell out of Flair at Clash- Does this town know how to party or what??? The whole Sting-Vader feud kicked ass. I'm a huge Sting mark and there are just too many to mention.
Guest Genecide1 Report post Posted April 27, 2002 man I wish the old Sting would come back to the WWF right now and start feuding with Chris Jericho. Cuz the beauty of the character is that you weren't sure how sane the "Stinger" was cuz he would constantly go into battles that didn't look good on the surface. ( Vader, The Dangerous Alliance, and Rude after the knee injury>
Guest Report post Posted April 27, 2002 I'm going to have to go with the Final Nitro as well. I've always been a fan of both companies no matter how bad they were at any given time. When the sell of WCW was announced, I knew that it was over. Of course, I kind of hoped the WWF would keep the WCW going, but I knew it just wouldn't be the same. The final match of the final Nitro between Flair and Sting was just as emotional as it was fun. Especially when you watch their expressions... they were literally having a blast out of there. On three seperate occassions, you see Flair crack a smile and a laugh, Sting following. And of course... in the end, when they both hugged and starred out into their relatively small audience... it was a moment I don't think many true wrestling fans had ever experienced. A very VERY fitting ending

Guest krambigmac Report post Posted April 28, 2002 I could go on forever, and probably will, but I'm just gonna go over matches since I'm too lazy to try to remember promos/angles plus most are explanatory in the matches(angles). 1988: Clash 1 against Flair was amazing and it showed Sting could go the distance with the soon to be phased out(yeah right) Nature Boy. 1989: GAB 89 against Muta was great and the post main event brawl connected those 2 with Flair and Funk well. Thunderdome was the bomb at Havoc 89 with Sting's awesome splash from high up on the cage...or was it a crossbody block? Starrcade is like my favorite card of all time and him winning the tourney was just the bomb. 1990: His wanting to get into the cage with the Horsemen at Clash 10 showed he was crazy and it kicked ass. Unfortunately it caused the knee injury but that show was awesome. GAB 90 was so memorable, especially for him finally beating Flair when it really counted and avenging the knee injury. I am one of the only to love the Black Scorpion saga so I will defend Starrcade by saying I loved it so nyah nyah nyah. 1991: Wrestlewar 91 had a great Wargames match with him involved. Superbrawl 1's tag title match kicked ass. Clash 17 when he came back from the hospital and tried his damndest to beat Rude to keep the US strap. Starrcade 91 was (to me) an awesome card with the best non Rumble battle royal ever in Battlebowl 1. 1992: Sting and Steamboat vs Rude and Austin was a great tag match at Clash 18 Him winning the belt at Superbrawl 2 was very memorable. The War Games at Wrestlewar was the best ever Bash 92 showed that he could take a big time ass beating at the hands of Vader. He didn't veto losses like Hogan did. 1993: Not much here really that I can think of 1994: He had great matches against Ride and Vader at Spring Stampede and Slamboree 1995: He nearly beat Hogan on Nitro! 1996: He stood up to the NWO He cleaned house at War Games at Fall Brawl 1997: He cleaned house at Uncensored He won at Starrcade but the match sucked :'( The rest is not old school so I'm not including it except for the final Nitro match which was old school to me. Guest The Son of Sting Report post Posted April 28, 2002 Gab 90 Vs Vader - his best matches Uncensored 97 - My biggest mark out moment when Sting beat the tar out of the nWo Final Nitro - fitting end
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 28, 2002 My favorite moment was when Sting won the title at the Great American Bash in 1990. That was a great feud that ended with a great blowoff match. I remember running throughout the house when Sting won the belt. That moment was every bit as big as the Warrior/Hogan match at Wrestlemania 6. I can't give the nod to the final Nitro because it was such abittersweet one. The GAB match was pure sweetness for me because I knew they weren't riding off into the sunset.
