Guest Scotsman Report post Posted February 23, 2002 I'll get into this seeing how my favourite game was mentioned..... Rings of Power Easily the best RPG there's been. Better than Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy.....hell, even better than Chrono. A fantastic game with a great, not too confusing story, fun characters, great puzzles....overall, the best game I've ever played. Guest mathbrat Report post Posted February 27, 2002 Mega Man X4 7 out of 10 Strictly for old school platform gamers, this game is HARD. I mean, throw your controller at the wall difficulty here, and that's only the first eight levels. I have not beaten this game yet after three years of owning it since you have to fight ALL THE BOSSES IN SUCCESSION. Very frustrating, but there are some upsides. Control is spot on despite the buttons being placed awkwardly, and the graphics are sharp and colorful. Pick it up cheap if you can.

Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted February 27, 2002 Rampart (Arcade) One of my favorite old school diversions. Greatest when you have all three players blasting each other senseless. I loved the puzzle element in which you had to rebuild your castle with Tetris like pieces with very little time. A fun game from the past. Next... Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! Guest areacode212 Report post Posted April 18, 2002 Whatever happened to BADBATZ anyway? Well, this was a massively popular thread on ezboard, and I figured it didn't deserve to die at a mere 2 pages. Tapper (Arcade)--Basically, this was a game that encouraged alcoholism (you were a bartender who had to serve Budweisers to a bunch of drunks). It was pretty fun and addicting, and will probably be remade soon, given that we live in a world where video games encourage rioting and uh, grand theft auto. Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Goldeneye(N64) In my opinion, still the best first person shooter out there. Single player has a bunch of great levels with 3 different levels of difficulty and a lot of cheats and whatnot to unlock. This is also one of the greatest multiplayer games of all time. You can have endless hours of fun with this game with friends or by yourself. I strongly reccomend that everyone picks this up. 9.5/10 Next up: Wreckless(Xbox) Counter Strike(PC) Final Fantasy Tactics(PSX) Conker's BFD(N64)
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted April 21, 2002 Final Fantasy Tactics(PS1) A fun, deep combat RPG. The class system, which is a heavily improved version of the FF5 class system, is excellent, and allows for a ton of customization of your characters. The game is very long, it runs about sixty hours the first time, and stays interesting most of the time. The plot is solid, but it's very much told rather than shown, so you're going to have to read a lot of text if you want to get it. It's sophisticated and mature though, worth the effort. Good cutesy graphics, great music. It has some problems though. The biggest one is that it's really freaking hard. That in itself isn't necessarily a problem, except for big problem number two. Big problem number two is that when you're supposed to fight multiple battles in sequence, there is *no way* to advance the game until you beat all the battles. That means that if the last battle in a sequence is much harder than the others, as sometimes happens, and you're underleveled, and you saved after starting the sequence, you're basically fucked. Many people have horror stories of having to start over because they can't beat a certain battle. Bad design there. The camera also is pretty annoying. Some of the default camera angles are really horrible, making it impossible to see what's going on. Minor, but annoying. Basically a great game with some significant flaws. Still highly recommended. 8.5/10 Next: SubSpace (PC) Cosmic Rift (PC) Infantry (PC) Tekken 4 (Arc) Mr Driller (Arc/DC) Capcom vs SNK 2 (Arc/PS2) Virtua Fighter 4 (Arc/PS2) Dragon Warrior 7 (PS1) Phantasy Star (SMS) Suikoden 2 (PS1)
Guest BADBATZ Report post Posted May 7, 2002 RAGH! I return from...I dunno where...and I'll do a double shot to make up for lost time. Suikoden 2 (PS1) One of my favorite RPG's for the PS1. A bit more massive than just about anything else RPG-wise on the playstation except for DW7. It's fun how Konami can pack all sorts of gaming goodness onto one CD when people like square can throw all sorts of cinematic wankery onto an 8 cd set or whatever and it have less ACTUAL gameplay. I could play cooking battles all day if Suikoden 2 would let me. and!@ Dragon Warrior 7 (PS1) Well...it's a good game. It's long, it's involving, it'll take days upon days of your life away (450 hours and counting). It's got a decent storyline and a great job system. But then again it's kinda ugly, the 3D engine is pretty bad (not as bad as Xenogears though). They really would have been better off applying the old style towns and environments to hand-drawn art instead of half SNES emulation/half-polygons like they did. It's not the best Dragon Warrior game at all, but at least it's one of the best PSX RPG's.
