Dennis Rodman coming to TNA

Recommended Posts

AND WE GO BACK ON TOPIC...according to Da Meltz, Rodman's appearance is a one-off deal, which makes me feel waaaaaaaaaaayyyyy better about this company. Here's the quote:

The Dennis Rodman appearance on TNA Impact that airs on Friday is a one-shot deal as an attempt to get mainstream publicity for the show

as long as Rodman's gone after one show, i'm fine with it.

P.S. i hate Mike Sanders.

Not a bad idea at all. With a one-shot deal, it makes more sense and Rodman could really draw some publicity for the company IMO. We'll see what happens.

So, TNA is going to spend money for a ONE-TIME ONLY appearance by a has-been circus freak?

Just checking --- they don't have the money to give the BOYS A RAISE --- but sign Rodman? Yup, they can swing that.

I'm certainly not overjoyed about this, but IF he keeps well away from the title picture, IF he isn't put over any credible wrestlers and IF it's only a very short-term thing, I can handle it. It could be very easily screwed up, though.

I'm pissed because the boys --- thinking of Kash in particular --- have been refused raises, yet they find money to sign Dennis Rodman?

Different situations, though - Kash is not going to draw mainstream publicity, nor are any of the TNA regulars. A one-shot deal for somebody who does have a "name" outside wrestling could be more valuable in terms of PPV revenue and outside attention than any regular, at least in the short-term.

I'd rather see Jason Cross in the ring than Jeff Hardy, and he'd certainly be a lot cheaper, but Hardy is the one that will get the attention of casual fans.

That's not to say that Rodman is the best person to be doing it, though he does at least have a wrestling connection. But I can at least understand what they're trying to do.

The fact that they're giving the wrestlers another payday that they couldn't get anywhere else (who runs on Thursdays???) is kind of like a raise. If the wrestlers want a raise, maybe they shouldn't HAVE SIGNED A CONTRACT THAT LOCKED THEM INTO A PAY RATE.

I see no reason to believe that Rodman will, either. He's been out of the public eye for years --- and he's known as little more THAN a novelty act. He won't increase buys.

Thing is, they're not using "big-name" guys. They're using novelty acts to gain attention --- a move that SELDOM works. Spend the money on advertising on other outlets. Spend the money on getting the DVD's into retail stores. Anything but spending it on novelty acts and rather mediocre workers with less than impressive histories.

If TNA has ANY hope for ANY form of loyalty, they might want to avoid that mentality. If they go with that, EVERYBODY who gets over will leave.
