Promo: out to lunch

[Guest Ash Ketchum]

The shot shows Ash driving something down the halls of the arena, humming a song as he goes, the sound of a whirring electric motor coming from behind him as he sings...

 

"Ketchum... he's Ash Ketchum... he the greatest man in hi-sto-ryyyyyyyyyyyy... from the... town of Pal-let... hey look out, he's gonna hit a treeeee..."

 

At that moment, the Speed Buggy, Ash's Carnie-style golf cart, bumps into a potted tree. The tree takes the brunt of the impact, then slowly tips over, falling on top of Insane Luchador as he strolls down the hall. Luchaidr falls to the ground, pinned under the tree. Ash flips the Speed Buggy into reverse, backs up, steers around the tree, and keeps going, driving for a bit further.

 

*APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES, 37 SECONDS LATER*

 

The front door of the X Force Nine Locker Room swings wide open as Ash Ketchum stands there, arms open wide.

 

"Misty, I'm hooooooooome!"

 

The perky and cheerful girlfriend of Ash hops up. She is wearing a sports bra and tight pair of spandex shorts, leaping into the arms of her boyfriend and kissing him.

 

"I missed ya..." Misty whispers, looking so sweet and innocent at Ash as he holds her in his arms.

 

"I betcha you have! Well, with me off running errands for Eddie Mac for a little bit, and crusing in the Speed Buggy..."

 

Suddenly, another door opens, and a head pokes through.

 

"Hey, Ash!"

 

Ced Ordonez, X Force Nine member, slides through the hole in the wall, shutting the door behind him as Misty climbs down out of her lover's arms, walking off to go back to whatever she was doing. Ced walks up to the ringleader of XF9, and extending an arm, Ash and Ced shake hands before they begin their conversation.

 

"Dag, yo. Wassup, Ced?"

 

"Not much... other than that match... you against me... gonna be great..."

 

Ced fake smiles, trying to hide his fears of facing the Undercard King and apparent heir to the JL throne. Ash picks up on Ced's fake smile, and is a bit puzzled until he speaks out.

 

"Somethin' wrong?" Ash inquires.

 

"Nah... it's all good..."

 

"Look... it's the match, isn't it?" Ced nods yes in reply. "Hey, this ain't about whether or not we hate each other, 'cause we don't. This is about who is going to fill Erek's place, Ced. Who will give X Force Nine a fighting champion." Ash pauses. "And that's me. Don't worry, kiddo. You'll do OK."

 

Ash smiles as Ced looks a bit shocked at the Undercard King's confidence before he makes his witty comeback.

 

"Oh... OK, dude. You think what you want. We'll see..." Ced cracks a smile. "But hey, we gotta game of Dance Dance Revolution kicking in the other room."

 

The shot cuts to the other room, where Z is hunched over, almost as if he were playing Twister instead.

 

"This thing isn't working right!" Z yells. "Where's green???"

 

"I'll be there in a sec!" Ced replies. "So... you want in on this?"

 

"Nah. I'll pass." Ash smiles as he smoothly answers Ced's request. "That's a game for freaks and stuff."

 

Ketchum smiles as Ced shrugs his shoulders and walks into the other room, Ash knowing his match on Crimson shouldn't be too much trouble, but as he looks down, he notices a letter sid under the door. Going to the door, he picks up the letter, studies it for a second, shakes it to make sure it's not booby-trapped, and then, he slides it into his pants pocket, going off to, well, do something... ;;;;
