Normally it will, but today I keep clicking on it and it won't open. Will someone tell me why. Thanks.

Try rebooting, if that fails come back.

I already tried, still doesn't launch. It starts loading for about 2 seconds, and then stops, with nothing happening.

Now this is where things get tricky.

What did you run last? Did your machine die due to abnormal program termination the last time when WMP still worked? Do you regularly run adaware checks, etc?

I end up having to just reinstall it everytime I get rid of a lot of spyware. I guess something just always attaches itself to WMP.

No, I don't think so. I use McAfee Virus Scan. I keep clicking on the WMP icon, and it looks like it's about to load for about 2 seconds, and then does nothing.

Run an ad-aware scan. Just search google for adaware to get a download. Unless I'm mistaken McAfee doesn't check for spyware.

I'm downloading it now. This may be a stupid question, but how will this help?

EDIT: I finished downloading it and clicked scan. After awhile it finished, and deleted 82 things. I restarted my computer and I still can't get into it.

Also, right before I restarted, something popped up that said something along the lines of: "The Program is not responding because you have logged off." I'm assuming its meaning WMP, which I had tried to get in to once again before I restarted. Damn, still doesn't work.

Can you use other media players?

Try this: WinKey + R, or Start button > Run, type mplayer2 and press enter.

This will bring up the old Windows Media Player.

Or get an alternative media player.

Winamp

BSPlayer

Media Player Classic

VideoLAN Client

If the problem is spyware, it was likely caused by something that infected Internet Explorer. Get Mozilla Firebird or Opera serial numbers are easy to find to kill the ad , you'll be much safer.

Lately, I've been having the same problem with Internet Explorer and AOL on my other computer. Neither will open period, so to view the Internet i have to go in my documents and change the URL box. I still haven't figured out what the problem is and it's remained like this for about two months now. Luckily, I have this other computer.

I did this, and it came up, but what I'm trying to do is play vids that I've downloaded from Limewire. I keep clicking on the vids and nothing is happening. It worked fine 2 days ago...

Either drag and drop the file to WMP or re-associate the files to open with the media player you want. If you have XP, right click on the file, choose Open With > Choose Program...

A new dialog box will come up. Choose the media player of your choice in the list (the icon for the old WMP it's the card with the numbers on it,) and click the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this type of file."

Get one or all of the media players I already listed, they're all free, and you'll be happier with with them.

Did you try re-installing Windows Media Player after this? It's worth a shot.
