Guest Staravenger Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I think paying dues is another term of seeing if so-and-so can handle the work schedule, stay healthy, etc. etc. If you look at some of the "main eventers", Triple H spent 4 or so years in the midcard and/or curtain jerking shows. Shawn Michaels was in a Tag Team for 4 years, and the midcard another 3 years. Chris Benoit has been in the midcard most of his career, with minor main event runs for about a month at a time. Eddie Guerrero just recently became a main eventer. Bradshaw was a midcarder and tag team wrestler for seven years. Booker T was a tag wrestler for 10 years before his World Title reigns in WCW. Rob Van Dam, although not really a main eventer, has been mainly in the midcard. Chris Jericho spent years in the midcard, got a brief World Title reign, and was shunted back down. All the above have one thing in common: they are still around. None of them were handed main event slots in a month, and all worked hard to get to where they are, even Bradshaw (even though I'm not too fond of him, he has worked hard I guess). Being in midcard feuds for several years with little to no glory and very very few chances to shine is pretty much what paying dues is.
The Buzz 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Paying your dues simply means you've worked your ass off for atleast a few years, and gotten shit for it. That is it in my opinion.
