Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted July 6, 2004 At Vengeance... Orton defeats Edge with a little bit of Flair interference. Edge is upset afterwards and goes backstage, asking his friends (Benoit & Jericho) why they didn't come out and help him keep Flair away. They say they weren't watching the match because they were talking about their matches later on in the show. Edge cools down and apologizes for going off on them... he's just frustrated with Evolution using their strength in numbers and cheating to win. La Rez defeat Flair & Eugene. Brawl to start and La Rez throw Flair into the steps at ringside early. Flair is groggy and spends the rest of the match on the apron. He is hurt for a while, but it becomes apparent to everyone that he's faking the injury after a while just to keep Eugene in the ring. Good hearted Eugene makes sure not to tag Flair because he's "hurt", and spends the remainder of the match in the ring. La Rez doubleteams the holy fuck out of him, but he keeps kicking out. Finally at around the 15 minute mark, they hit Au Revoir on him and retain the belts. Flair is upset with Eugene for losing the match afterwards. Eugene sees Flair backstage laughing with HHH about how he kept Eugene in the ring the whole time. Eugene looks confused and hurt, wondering why his friends would do that. Jericho defeats Batista. No interference here, just classic David vs. Goliath. Batista kicks out of the Lionsault and powers out of the Walls of Jericho. He goes for the Demon Bomb but Jericho flips over and gets the quick win with a sunset flip pinning combination. Kane defeats Matt Hardy in a no DQ match. Matt keeps trying to come back but keeps getting overpowered. Matt kicks out of 2 chokeslams, but a third one through a table ends this feud. Lita somehow interferes in the match but gets knocked down, mercy killing this angle with a miscarriage or something. Benoit defeats HHH. Let this one go 40+ minutes. Basically, in the end, HHH calls for Eugene to hit Benoit with the chair again, like on Raw... but Eugene finally realizes that HHH is just using him, and he hits Trips instead. Benoit retains. The next night on Raw, it is announced that the next week on Raw there will be a War Games match. It will be all 4 members of Evolution against Benoit, Jericho, Edge, and Eugene. The match is a classic. Edge starts the match for the faces against Orton. Edge's knee is slowly destroyed throughout the match. In the end, Edge is locked in the figure four with Flair holding Orton's hands for leverage. Benoit has a chance to save Edge, but locks Batista in the crossface instead. Edge taps before Batista, and Evolution wins the match. Edge is pissed that his friend was selfish and didn't choose to save him. Edge refuses Benoit's help back to the locker room. The next week on Raw, Edge finally finishes the heel turn. Benoit retains against Edge at Summerslam. HHH defeats Eugene at 'Slam, and Orton beats Jericho in a 30 minute Iron man match.
