Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 He has a good look and I think he will be a huge star in the future, but he seriously needs to gain some muscle. He is too skinny for his height. I would have liked to have seen him be on the Raw roster as well, because he would have been able to get more airtime on Raw and become a bigger star. Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I really don't care about Orton, I'm just happy that Bob Holly lost. Hahahaha.
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I agree, Randy looks too skinny and lanky for his height. I am surprised the WWF didn't make him bulk up a bit more before they debuted him. He looks like a rookie, which of course he is.
Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Scott Keith said it best, "He looks like any other green kid, winning a match on Jakked." He's No Brock Lesnar, but I'm happy to see new people. Now it's time to prove himself. I won't hold it against him that I was never a big fan of his father.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I dunno, that skinny look seems to be the prototypical look for up and comers nowadays. Its like they want every wrestler to look like Shawn Stasiak for some reason. Orton needs something to make himself stand out more. He seemed very vanilla last night with his arm dragging, flying bodypressing, and Oklahoma Rolling offense. Why should I really care about this guy?
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted April 26, 2002 His match last night was very old school. I liked that a lot.
Guest Big Poppa Popick Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Ummm He is a Vanilla Midget... so I dont think he'll be changing flavors anytime soon
Guest JHawk Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Scott Keith said it best, "He looks like any other green kid, winning a match on Jakked." Am I the only person who hasn't seen a green kid win a match on Jakked? They don't give half of their veterans win on Jakked. As far as Randy Orton goes, I'm not sure you can sell that old school offense with today's fan without Steve Corino using the "King of Old School" gimmick (which I think would go over in the WWF with a little work). But he looked technically sound and the crowd popped for the upset. Hard to tell for sure in a three minute match though. Let's see where they go from here, but so far so good, I think. Guest Risk Report post Posted April 26, 2002 NuSchool sucks, I hope Oldschool comes back. Orton is a step in the right direction. He could rule with Corino as a partner or manager.
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 He still not ready for the big leagues, he needs to bulk up some more and get more experience in the ring, anyway the green wrestler job is already taken by Maven.
Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Damn people! He only wrestled ONE friggen match on TV so far. Give the kid a chance.
Guest What?! Report post Posted April 26, 2002 And it didn't even go 3 minutes!
Guest Special K Report post Posted April 26, 2002 He did look a little green, but he at least wrestled qith a lot of energy, and that's a good sign. I'm not holding my breath until we see more of him, but he could be a pleasent surprise.
Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Well, I've been thinking about this after his match last night, waiting for the Randy Orton topic to come up, and here's what I think: You look at the moves he used last night, and its pretty clear that he's short on experience. Dropkick, Armdrag, Flying Body Press. HOWEVER, while those moves are elementary level, I thought he executed them well, and I kinda dug seeing a new kid break out an old school roll through pinning combination move like the Oklahoma Roll [did Cowboy Bob use that too? Or was that somebody else who used thave move?] I guess really all I can say is that I think the jury's still out on Randy Orton. He's pretty green, but he's probably got an at least decent future ahead of him. He's second generation, and he's got the "look" that Vince seems to like. (Tall, bulked, and young...not blond though, but that can be adjusted easily in this modern world). It's hard to establish a winning persona in a three minute match and a crash segment with Vince & Stacy. Stone Cold wasn't built in a day, you know... As long as they don't rush him Rocky Miavia style, he should be fine.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 26, 2002 So Randy did not use the Wheel Barrel German Suplex that he used in OVA? Did Randy have an interview or promo showing any kind of mic skills? Should I set my VCR to record Excess for this momental 1st apperance? Is Randy Ortan a Vanilla Giant?
Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Here is a little back ground on Randy Orton, from his WWF.com interview. http://www.wwf.com/news/headlines/1132056
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I thought Randy Orton looked pretty good out there last night, he has a good look that obviously appeals to the female viewers, and he seemed pretty confident to me, backstage and in the ring. I also find it pretty hypocritical that guys like Scott complain all the time about never seeing anyone new, and when the WWF tries to introduce someone new, he blows him off as a "jobber from Jakked". Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 It wouldn't be a true Scott Keith "Rant" if he didn't contradict himself some where in it.
Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Bulk up? He needs to bulk up? If he does that, the next thing you know, you guys are going to be claiming he's on steroids anyway
Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Randy Orton does not need to bulk up. He has a male model type build and I think it works for him. I think this guy could really get over with the females too as someone said. His offense was bland but I dont think the WWF would bring him up if that was all he could do. Scott Keith is fucking idiot. He ONLY complains about the WWF it seems even when the opposite of what hes mad about. I realize the WWF isnt the fucking greatest it could be right now but that guy is just a whining jackass. Also he acts like hes a celebrity or soemthing. Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I agree. I can't stand Keith. I bought the Buzz on Professional Wrestling out of curiosity when I should have looked through it more thoroughly in Books a Million. I ended up taking it back because it was pure garbage
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I didn't really want to go off on too much of a tangent about Keith, but the fact is he's one of those guys who is always going on and on about "elevating new people" or "introducing new people" and such. Well here the WWF did a pretty good job of it by giving him an intro skit with the Boss himself, as well as one of the hottest chicks in the company, and then gave him a win in his first match to get some exposure. But Scott probably thinks they should have brought him in and had him go over the Undertaker clean in his first match or something.
Guest Report post Posted April 26, 2002 Times are a changin anyway. Now that the matches are longer.. We are gonna see more Old school material...Just the way it is... Lately seemingly everyone is packing a Adominal Stretch and Sleeperhold per match. more restholds and locks during matches. As Far as Randy goes, he just had one match so far officially... if you pass judgement on someone for the first official 3 minutes of their career then thats pretty fickle.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I thought he looked all right. No worse or better then most guys appearing on Smackdown and wrestling in 3 minutes matches. I'm looking forward to seeing mroe of him.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted April 26, 2002 It's also pretty hard after a match where his opponent seemed more pre-occupied with leaving red marks on his chest then actually having a good match.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I don't understand the whole "he needs to bulk up" line of thinking. This isn't body building if he can do the moves it doesn't matter what kind of body he has. Would you rather him be like HHH and only able to move like a sloth? Either way he didn't look bad at all for his first match on national tv in front of a large crowd. He probably didn't even get to use his full arsenal being it's his first match in front of a full large crowd(that's paying attention unlike in dark matches) with a camera taping him for national tv. I mean anyone would be nervous doing that for the first time so a simple match is probably a better idea then letting him pull off complex stuff until he gets comfortable with the national tv thing. And i agree it's pretty stupid to bitch about WWF never bringing in new guys, but then bitch that "rookies" shouldn't be on tv. Oh yeah and to compare guys like Orton to Maven is way off target. The guys like Orton have been in WWF training grounds for at least two years and i'd reckon that most of them had been trained to wrestle before WWF found them and Maven has barely had a year of training and started from scratch(and has no right to be on WWF tv). Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 27, 2002 I thought Orton looked great. He has a Sean O'Haire but a little bit smaller look to him and if he has to moves to go with the look then he should be over in no time. I think he got a nice little pop when he won last night.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 27, 2002 I didn't get to see the match last night but I don't get what having a good look or physique means. Billy Gunn has a good look, but he has been jackshit in his singles push. For everyone that wants him to bulk up, I want to know why. Why do you think getting bigger is the answer? He will be lost in the shuffle of the huge monster guys anyway.
Guest Report post Posted April 27, 2002 I think he would be good possibly in the cruiserweight division... I saw him and Rico take on Waterman and Lesnar in a dark match from RAW (yes I was at the one where they announced HHH and Steph were gonna have a baby) in Las Vegas and they had a great match. And by the way Rico and Orton won.
Guest Luke Michael Report post Posted April 27, 2002 I don't think Randy needs to gain too much more muscle. A little more would help though. Someone I think he's going to get stuck in the Shawn Michaels type role.
