The insane optimism thread

Recommended Posts

Guest Mystery Eskimo

In my search for optimism about the WWF, I have convinced myself that Jericho might win this, and go into a Judgement Day four way as champ.

This is probably insane. But who knows, eh?

Jericho will squash Hogan, and beat him clean because Hogan will finally realize his wrong doings and pass the torch to Jericho. Jericho will become super over as a heel and dominate the wwf for most of the year before dropping the title to Benoit or RVD at WM X9.

Too much?

That's Crazyak.

You're a Maniac.

Seriously, I'm of two minds on this upcoming match.  I'm happy, because Jericho beat Triple H to get the shot.

But I'm also kinda bummed, because I don't like Jericho's chances of winning this match, and I'd rather not see Jericho get a match with Hogan until they're ready to have him beat Hogan.  And I don't think that they're going to follow Triple H's one month reign with a 10 day Hogan reign.

[Time to hope for Jericho winning by DQ after a quick run in.]

I'd keep Jericho out of the big match as though he was being semi-held back by Vince McMahon.  Maybe leave him off a second PPV card, so it can look like people are trying to deny him his chance.  Which just makes him and Kurt Angle push back harder (some of you might remember my Four Fozzymen Idea I posted on one of these forums, can't remember which) and so Jericho beats down the winner of the world title match AGAIN at the end of Judgment Day.  Although keeping the belt on Hogan until King of The Ring would probably be a hefty gamble (and I'm sure not too popular around here), I think the damage could be minimized if he does WWF-style main event tag matches on Smackdown and Raw (never both the same week) through Judgment Day.  [Angle & Jericho vs Edge & Hogan or Angle, Jericho, and UT vs HHH, Edge & Hogan, since HHH and UT are "special" now and can cross over.] Then, have him sell the vicious Jericho beatdown at JDby having him stay out of the ring, like he wants to rest up so that he can "come at that bastard Jericho with 100% power in the 24 inch pythons, brother."  Jericho naturally accuses him of milking the 30 day rule.

And Jericho goes over more or less clean at KOTR.  (Angle savagely beat down Hogan beforehand, so he wrestles with a clear injury, and that can be the "dirty" part.  The actual match goes down "clean.")

If something sounds familiar about Jericho's buildup in this scenario, it should:  It's a lot like how they built Triple H up in the latter half of 1999, only without Stephanie (which makes it even better!  Yay!)

Jericho beats down Hogan for 20 minutes and then pins him with the Arrogant Cover to win the title! After the match Hogan becomes Jericho's lackey and polishes the belt for him before every match.

Since we're just being insanely optomistic: Hogan issues an open challenge to anyone in the back. Christian comes out. After a few minutes of a match, Hogan gets the unprettier but kicks out. Hogan hulks up, but Christian is to busy throwing the biggest tantrum of his life. Due to the Herculean pounding of Christian's fists upon the mat, Hogan is swept from his feet and knocked cold. Christian wins the belt, and since he has realized the dream of all wrestlers, gives up the tantrum once and for all.

Sure it's dumb, and I don't really want Christian with the belt, but I mark for him, so there. :P

Jericho beats Hogan clean with the big boot and leg drop followed by the arrogant cover.  And I mark out like a total bitch.

It will probably be turned into a horrible world title feud and Angle will get punnished for having a bad, boring title feud with Edge while Edge gets rewarded. (ala Edge/Regal)

Yes, that is me being optimistic.

I'd pay good money just to see Jericho slap Hogan in an old school Liontamer.

I don't know if Jericho can ever win a match again now that all of his finishers are destroyed. The Walls hasn't made someone tap since who? Chyna? The Lionsault never gets three anymore, and now the breakdown is apparently a mid-match move.

Matt Hardy tapped to the WOJ on the last Smackdown before the split. But yeah Jericho's in a tough situation because his strongest finishing hold is a submission hold and the top faces are never going to tap out in a match. He needs to come up with a new finisher and borrowing moves from Billy Gunn is not the way to go.

I think an optimistic outcome from this upcoming match on SD is anything that doesn't involve a big boot...legdrop....1..2..3. I'm guessing maybe a DQ ending with Triple H or maybe Angle interfering. A title switch would be great. But I hate the idea of playing hot potato with the WWF title. Whoever wins the title from Hogan needs to hold it for 3-4 months at least to give it some stability.

You know what'd be cool?  At least to me anyway?

If Jericho started ripping other people's finishers.

And then proceed to, in that style that made him the heel of the year when he broke out in 1998, claim to be the inventor of all the finishers.

"I invented the Stunner by the way, and Austin ripped it off.  It's real name is the Jericho Stunner, not the stone cold stunner."

then he could do commentary and harrass and threaten Michael Cole or Jim Ross or whoever when they called the move wrong, (i.e. by the non-Jerichized name).

Wow, that's a great idea. I always thought their should be a wrestler whose finisher was the other guys finisher. Just a great idea. I really hope the WWF reads these boards, because I would mark like crazy for that.

That'd be very cool. Especially if he gave Hogan a leg drop.

Jericho uses the brass knuckles that Hogan brought to the ring and hid, then gets the pin in under 5 seconds.

Elevation baby!!

Awesome idea.

Is anyone else starting to think that HHH jobbed to Hogan because Hogan is going to be the middleman - with the belt ending up back around Jericho's waist?

HHH's reign was pants, and this could have been the way to get the belt of him, without him having to job (as usual.)

Well according to the Great and Mighty Meltzer it is the plan to have Hogan/UT at Judgement Day. BUT! It is a possibility that Jericho could win on Thursday and defend in a 4-way! PLEASE MAKE THIS THE PLAN!!!!!!!!

I would watch most WWF title matches, but I won't bother if its just Hogan-UT. I can't imagine a worse match.

I don't see how they can go with anything other than HHH vs Undi vs Jericho vs Hogan. It's what they've been building to since before Backlash.

With HHH and Undi "invading" Raw and Smackdown, you'd think that this would be a big deal, and cause for a big match. Or they'll just ignore it like they do every time they think of something "better"...

They *should* go with the 4 way, as otherwise it leaves Jericho to face HHH again presumably, which would be pretty pointless.
