Silence 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2004 I read just a month ago that Internet Explorer was being hacked by Russian hackers (which was reported on yahoo.com) and someone on another forum said to switch to Mozilla Firefox because of that. Now that I'm using Firefox, I'm trying to set up a new e-mail since Outlook Express is IE's e-mail program, and Thunderbird is Firefox's e-mail program, although when I get to the part about typing in the name of the Incoming Server and Outgoing Server, I'm not sure what to type in. Could someone help me out on that?
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2004 While I use Firefox, I don't use the email program so I Cant really help you out much but I will try and point you in a good direction: MozillaZine Forums Theres a section on Thunderbird and Im usually able to find answers to problems with Firefox on there so it should be of equal help for Thunderbird. Silence 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2004 I'm not going through 198+ pages all day just to figure out what my Incoming and Outgoing Server names should be. I looked through some of the pages and I couldn't find the topic.

I looked through some of the pages and I couldn't find the topic. I found an answer searching in less than 5 minutes...good old search function. --- Get your ISP tech. on the phone, ask them what your: 1) POP Mail Server name is. 2) SMTP Mail Server name is. Open Thunderbird>Account Settings>Server Setttings (Put in POP Mail Server name in the Server Name field) now go to>Outgoing Server[sMTP] (Put in SMTP Mail Server name in the Server Name field) OK>Close Thunderbird>launch Thunderbird> Send a test email to yourself. You can also import your email settings from another program, not sure if server settings etc. are included but you could try. Tools>Import>Settings>choose the email program to import settings from. --- Hope that helps.
Silence 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2004 (edited) I didn't even see the search button on the forums. Did you use a search engine? I don't really feel like calling an ISP tech., although I might try to import the e-mail settings. Do I click on tools on my browser, Outlook Express, or Thunderbird? Edit: Never mind. I just imported the Outlook Express settings onto Thunderbird. So now that I've done that, is there a search option on Thunderbird like on Outlook Express or not? The search link is on the right side of the forums under Forums links. As for Thunderbird's search function (and I dont know if its like Outlook Express or not..) -- Go to Edit->Find->Search messages.. or hit Ctrl + Shift + F It will help you find any message you want. ---
