Guest Dazed Report post Posted July 12, 2004 (edited) This forum gets a considerable amount of traffic, and quite a few new threads are made each day. These guidelines are intended to raise the level of discussion, and to clear out some of the crap. Making New Threads When posting news threads, please keep a couple of things in mind: 1) Has it been posted before, or would it be better suited for an existing thread? - Updates on prior news probably doesn't need a new thread, except in exceptional circumstances. Use common sense. 2) Do a scan of at least the first page of the forum, to ensure it hasn't been posted before. Merging threads is a strain on the server that shouldn't be required, so we probably won't bother. 3) Is it really threadworthy? Torrie Wilson having a cold isn't groundbreaking, so just don't bother. Again, we ask that you use your discretion. The exception to this is when a whole bunch of news is posted together. 4) Brock Lesnar training for the NFL – not in the WWE forum. Brock Lesnar talks about his regrets in joining WWE – post it in the WWE forum. That applies to every ex-WWE wrestler. 5) Try and give an opinion when posting news. Let us know whether you think it's a good idea, or how it could be improved, or whether Vince was clearly high when he made the decision. Posting I can't believe this next rule needs to be included, but it seems that it does. 1) Everyone is entitled to their opinion. You don't have to agree with someone, but at least listen to them, and give them a chance to justify their point. For the love of God, don’t start flaming or insulting someone without giving them a chance. Even then, try to not be a dick. This also (especially) applies to people's * ratings of matches. 2) Back things up. Don’t just come out with "hurr hurr SmackDown sucks". Tell us why you think it sucks, or what could be improved. 3) Someone mentioning Randy Orton, Batista, or anyone at all does not give you carte blanche to tell us how you think they suck. Save it for the appropriate occasion. Trolling & Flamebaiting The following will not be acceptable: - Insulting someone because of their opinion. Period. - Calling someone a troll On breaking a guideline If you believe that someone has broken a rule, please do one, or both of the following: 1) Quote the relevant rule to them. Don't be sarcastic or rude, don't flame, and don't dwell on it. Tell them, and move on. 2) Press the button directly above the post, and explain briefly what the problem is. This fires off an e-mail to all of the moderators, and someone will take a look at it. Finally: Please accept the spirit of these, and don't try to circumvent them. Update as of September 04: If you have booking suggestions that are relevant to modern-day WWE, feel free to post them in this folder. If you're booking, say, WWE from 2002 or 2003, that will need to go in the FB folder. But anything that's present-day is fine where it is. There does need to be some relevance to it of course. Straight fantasy booking still needs to go in the appropriate folder. But if you write something that's a little bit fantasy booking but is mostly about the current state of the company, then don't hesitate to post it here. Also, if you write a column, as long as it's relevant to this folder, it won't be moved to FB. Those are the sorts of things that can spawn discussion, which is what we want. I realize that this post is a little vague and could be interpreted in more than one way, so if you have any questions, feel free to PM Loss. No posting theories about Eddie Guerrero still being alive. He's dead. It's sad, but it's a fact. Update as of 6/7/06: No direct copying and pasting of any copyrighted material. This includes newsletters, audio updates, shoot interviews or anything else. Paraphrasing is fine, but absolutely no copying and pasting. Update as of 2/8/07: OAO threads for PPV's should be started on the Wednesday before the PPV. This allows for all TV before the PPV to have been aired/taped, and means we know what is set to happen on the PPV in question. Any speculation ahead of the OAO thread can be kept to the relevant Raw/SD thread or the Comments...thread at the top of the forum. 5/15/07: If you have a complaint about the WWE forum, send me (HTQ) a PM about it, and I'll look into it. As long as it's valid, I'll do what I can to fix it. Problems with the WWE forum can't be fixed if you don't say anything. Just wanted to emphasize this, as we do plan to start cracking down on this some more. If you insist on making an argument personal or being a dickhead, then do so in The Chocolate Socket (the former No Holds Barred), where there are no rules.
