Guest Posted April 26, 2002 Report Posted April 26, 2002 The Salton Sea was released today in LA, NYC and Toronto. Fortunately for me, I live in the biggest city in Canada so we actually get limited releases here. I caught the first showing this afternoon, and suprisingly it was pretty full. As for the movie, I personally loved it, but I think it's going to be the kind of movie you either "love" or "hate" with no in between. People have been making comparisons to Blow, and I can see why. Both fall into the genre of "drug movies". I liked The Salton Sea more, because of the storyline and the main character (Val Kilmer) had an unique story to tell. There are a lot of interesting and bizarre characters in the film and some unique images from the director. The movie is not what I thought it would be given the trailers and has quite a different plot than the usual "drug movie". I recommend the movie with no promises that you will enjoy it yourself.
