WWE Folder stupidity.

and he calmly replies..

nothing's been "done" in there, Coffey, because nothing has needed it. I've not seen one duplicate thread, example of trolling, deliberately mislead discussions, even. If nothing else, it's one of the most civil folders on here. The one complaint I have seen in there since the previous thread where I agreed to moderate the folder was in fact issued by you when Nelly's Bandaid said something along the lines of "Your arm will fall off from reaching so hard" on a subject where you were clearly making big logical (or not) steps.

I come on insanely early in the mornings, too, so I get my fair share of minor moderator problems. Hell, I leave a browser open most of the day, as this computer is also my stereo, and it's never off. The fact that there's a moderator online, and within seconds of looking at anything on the board is somehow not good enough though. Shall I start ordering every TNA ppv now, so that I might have the right to moderate it effectively?

One would think the fact that I don't have any personal investment into the subject material would in fact make me a BETTER moderator, since I'm specifically looking at the discourse, not the topic itself. That's why at presidential debates, the moderator doesn't participate in what the candidates have to say. He's MODERATING. I'll leave the Q & A to the people who watch and enjoy or disapprove of the show, and rightly so.

If there's a duplicate thread, or a troll posting spam, or just blatantly pissing everyone else off on purpose, and I don't catch it, THEN call me a lousy moderator.

Besides, how can some of you dog on Nik for being too INTO it when at the same time you criticize me for silently observing?

Foot in mouth syndrome.

It's insane, I know.

We've learned that everything we do here is always going to be up for constant scrutiny. The same posters that will be clamoring for something to be done, will be the posters that are here the next day bitching and moaning because we did what they wanted.

We're all here. We all do our jobs. If you don't like the way the moderator's do their jobs, you're not contractually obligated to post here.

http://www.ezboard.com/ <--- They're free.

EDIT: And so I don't get called pompous or whatever, I'm not saying "if you don't like it, leave" to be an ass. I'm saying it because it seems to be the only explanation that will be deemed justifiable enough to get people to leave an issue alone.

We don't have problems with you all criticizing things here, but here's a suggestion I hope you all take to heart. When someone is banned, or a decision is made, give it some time. An hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 24 hours... it doesn't matter. Give it some time so you all can vegetate on it for awhile, and THEN bring your questions here. That'll make the job we have as moderators, easier, and it'll make it easier for us to give an explanation that meets you, the posters, needs.

Actually, I think it's better to get a mod who *doesn't* follow the product, because then you won't get a bunch of people saying "ur just mad because I don't like so-and-so" like you have in the WWE folder.

Actually, that's a good point. You might be right....

A really smart poster could work his way around a mod who didn't follow the subject matter. If someone posts that Britney Spears is their favorite heavy metal artist in the Music folder and people start bashing the poster for it, but the mod doesn't know that this was trolling, well, it could create problems.

Agreement from me as well. My apologies.

EDIT:

towards Loss-

So, the person's blatantly trolling anyway. That's a ban even if I don't know AJ Styles' moveset.

towards Coffey

Neat. Now we can sniff asses and be pals. I'm glad sense was made.

But if you had never heard of Britney Spears or heavy metal, wouldn't you just tell the poster to get the sand out of his or her vagina, so to speak, if you don't understand why that's not right? That's what I'm saying -- a smart poster could make a long post about how Britney Spears changed the face of music in the 1980s by rocking harder than anyone else, but be peaceful, and if the mod wasn't a music fan, he'd have no clue that this was trolling.

Do you see what I'm saying?

Yeah, I get you, but that would just be a person saying something stupid in a civil manner, which would then get picked apart by the people in the know. Civil discussion, no matter how dumb someone's statement might be, doesn't get moderated.
