DVD Threads in WWE Folder

I've talked to a few mods about this, and it was suggested I post this here.

 

There's like, 4 or 5 DVD threads floating about in the WWE Folder. An Eddy one, Benoit one, favourite one, etc. I suggested making one dvd thread where you could post all news on future WWE DVDS, opinions on current ones, matches you would like to see on future ones, etc. Do we really need single threads for EVERY WWE DVD? Most of them just turn into people talking about what they would like to see on future DVDs, so why not make a OAO thread where you post all DVD stuff?

So somebody who wants to read people's opinions on the Ric Flair DVD has to scroll through everything on every other WWE DVD in order to get there? Not a good idea at all.

But that's not what people have been asking. Of course, there will be exceptions. But most of the time, the talk just turns to "I wanna see this match on the Benoit dvd" "I wanna see that on Eddie's." Or, the newest thread "which one of these is the best". Surely when you have pretty mcuh the EXACT SAME DISCUSSION going on in seperate threads, it would be a good idea to merge them? Anyway, it's only a suggestion. If you don't think it's a good idea, then fair enough. You've been around here alot longer than me FS, so you'd be a better judge on how these things work.

In all seriousness, what is so hard about just not clicking on the threads if you do not like them?

 

On the first page of the WWE folder we have the following DVD related topics.

 

1) WWE DVD's - This is just guys suggesting which WWE DVDs are worth picking up, nothing wrong with that.

 

2) Benoit DVD Delayed - This one is talking about the delay for the most part, and all other talk has been about the Benoit DVD itself.

 

3) Eddie Guerrero/HBK DVD details - This one is pretty much talking about both the Eddie/HBK DVDs that are to be released in the next few months.

 

Then we have one more, which was moved to the polls/lists area, so that one isn't even active in the WWE folder now.

 

To take those three threads, and then merge them, would create a very confusing mess. It's three different threads talking about three totally different items. To talk about them all in the same thread would be close to impossible, and God knows that to have a flowing conversation about any one of them would be impossible, since you would have two or three guys wanting to talk about the Eddie DVD, five or six guys crying about the Benoit DVD being delayed, a few talking about the HBK DVD, and then more trying to suggest to this poor guy which ones he should pick up which would in the end be in vain, since it would be hard for him to even pick out which posts are in response to him and which ones have to do with the other three or four topics in the same thread.

 

It isn't like these threads are taking up that much room. Then again, as always, it's just my opinion.

DH, it's not that these threads bother me. It was merely a suggestion. The main point of it was for news on DVD releases. Now, surely that wouldn't be to confusing? Someone posts about the Angle DVD being released, it's discussed, people say what they would like to see on it. Another DVD release in announced, goes in same thread. The talk of the other dvd(s) would have died down, so now talk turns to the new releases. Then, someone buys the Angle dvd, discussion is sparked again, in the same thread. This is opposed to a thread announcing the RELEASE DATE of the Angle dvd, a thread about the MATCHES on the Angle dvd, and then a thread giving THOUGHTS on the Angle dvd (once you've bought it). See what I'm getting at?

 

Maybe a better idea would a OAO Chris Benoit DVD thread?

The letters OAO aren't needed, you merely need posters to be unlazy and bump old topics rather than start a brand new one on them. Mods could also merge the threads too.

 

Face it though, people do what's easiest for themselves.

A OAO thread for each DVD release would be fine. I'd have no problem with the merging of the older Benoit DVD thread and the one that was recently started up.

And FS, I doubt many people would be willing to search for an old Benoit DVD thread, so just sticking a Pinned OAO thread would let people find the thread alot more easily. I only suggested this because there seems to be alot of talk about the dvds lately.

If you are too lazy to click "search" and then type in the word "Benoit", then you should be posting in the first place. I don't even think a OAO thread is needed, thus people doing the searches aren't needed, but if we must limit the threads, just make people do a search.

 

I don't think it hurts anything by having two threads on a DVD, months apart.

But if there's only one thread for it, then everytime a new news bit is posted in it and I'm away for the day and 100 people have replied to it then I would never know that some new news had been posted because it would be 5 pages back. With a new thread I know where the news is...it's in the first post.
