The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2004 Remember that trivia contest Lance Storm had going on? Well, it appears to be over. Trivia Contest: Experience July 27, 2004 I was completely amazed at the responses I received after posting my Trivia Contest. While I didn't expect everyone to ace the thing, no one was even close. As you now know there were only 9 names on the list I had not worked with, but most entries received contained upwards of 20 to 30 names. I realise that you couldn't possible keep track of every person I've worked with but some of you listed people who I had worked a lengthy PPV program with. I thought I would take this opportunity to talk about a few of the more common mistakes made and then get to the eventual winners. Hulk Hogan: Yes, despite defeating Hogan and Edge for the WWE tag team titles on PPV many of you listed the Hulkster. Lex Luger and Sting: Both of these guys I worked on WCW TV. Luger in tag and Sting in a Single. On an interesting note as well the only WCW poster of me that was ever made (to my knowledge) was an action shot from my match with Sting. I had him in the 1/2 Boston Crab. Ric Flair and The Undertaker: After my commentary on Flair's book, these two dropped off people's list but they were on all the first ones. Christian and I defended the WWE Tag Titles against these guys in Pittsburgh PA. Abdullah the Butcher: I've actually had several single matches with Abby. We both worked for WAR in Japan together. He even ribbed me by calling a Monkey Flip for me. I got him over but he damn near pushed my knees through my chest. I even have a scar on my chest where he accidentally cut me. Gene Kiniski: I did a commentary about this one. Jericho and I tagged with Gene in Winnipeg Manitoba. Gene was 63 at the time and Jericho was 21 (1/3 Gene's age) Taz and Sandman: I hope everyone who had these two on their list never saw ECW. I worked with both of them on TV a number of times. I was Taz Tested Tough. Chavo Classic: This was a tough one. I worked with Chavo Classic on an ill-fated tour of Lebanon, in 1992. D Lo Brown: This was another one I thought I might stump you on. The only time we've worked, to my recollection was in SMW in 1994. D Lo was brought in the same time as the Gangstas. Eddie Guerrero: I did a commentary about this one too. I challenged Eddie for the US title on a SD house show in Calgary, AB. I was at the show but not scheduled to wrestle. Vince was on the house show and thought the two of us for the US title was a match fans would like to see so he booked the match. I was thrilled but also disappointed that the first match was already in the ring when I was told I was working Eddie in the second match on the card. We had 5-10 minutes to get ready and that included running out to my car to get my gear. Brock Lesnar: This too was a tricky one. I worked Brock on 3 house shows before he debuted on TV. I actually beat him in 2 out of the 3 so I have a winning record against him. (LOL) Gregory Peck: I wasn't sure this one would get you or not. It was so absurd that I figured you might have guessed I would never have thought of him if I hadn't worked the guy. I worked Gregory Peck in Calgary at a CRMW show. I asked him why the name and he said it was his real one. (No he wasn't the actor). Peck was so bad; I actually got him fired after the match. I told the booker if he was even on another show I would quit. Tug Boat: My first trip to Japan with WAR I wrestled a tag match with TugBoat. This guy was HUGE. HHH: I couldn't believe this one, we wrested on RAW. It was the night after his Hell in the Cell PPV with Jericho. I loved the match because it was a brawling fistfight, something very few people thought I could do. Horace Hogan: My first tour of FMW (1991) Jericho and I wrestled Mike Awesome and Horace Bolder. Eugene and Tyson Tomko: I worked with both of these guys on House Shows. Most of the guys who got brought up from OVW worked with me first on the road. I was told that my match with Eugene (Nick Dinsmore) was the ones that got him brought up. Every time I see Benoit he still puts that match over. Now for the Magic Nine that I've never worked with: Kevin Nash: I thought this one might stump a few as we did do an in ring confrontation once on Nitro. I took the big boot, but never had a match. Earthquake: I was on a show in Japan with Tenta but we were never in the ring together. Rick Rude: I did a brief thing with Rude in ECW but we never actually touched. I think he chased me once after I split Bam Bam Bigalow's head open with a chair. I'm not sure what I was more afraid of Rude chasing me with a chair, or Bam Bam later in the locker room. Thankfully Bammer was a pro and knew the chair shot was an accident, he was a very good sport about it. Steve Austin: I took a Stunner on TV but that was it. I think we were both in the Rumble together but we never were in the ring at the same time, which is why I chose to not include Rumbles. Chris Benoit: If you guys didn't get this one right, it was your own fault. How many times have I talked about wanting to work with Benoit? Dean Malenko: Oddly enough we both worked Japan, ECW, WCW, WWE yet have never done a thing together, at least as wrestlers. His first match as an agent was Hurricane and I on HEAT. Batista: This is one of the only guys they brought up from OVW that I didn't work with. Unless I did and he hit me so hard I've forgotten all about it. (LOL) Baron Von Raschke: This was a long shot but believe it or not Jericho worked with the guy, or at least was on a show with him. I remember Jericho telling me that The Baron was bragging to the boys that he hadn't taken a bump in 10 years. (He wasn't retired either that was while working) Ricky Choshu: This was just a name I through out there. I figured my Japan years might be the toughest to peg down so this was a real test. Well there's the list, and now onto the winners: Miriam Collins from Dublin Ireland got all nine as did Steven Jobin. Neither one included their mailing address so please send those to me, and congrats on your success. To everyone else good effort. I'd like to give an honourable mention to one of my Book Marks, Stacy who came in second (I guess third actually with 2 people in first) with 7 out of 9. She added 4 other possibles to her list of 9 and managed to get the other 2 with that. Chris Shacco also had 7 of 9, which would put him in 4th place. Thanks for playing everyone, Lance I wasn't even close.
