Small correction

In an earlier thread (don't remember which one) I was talking about the established superstar VS Up and comer formula. It spans usualy 3 matches and some tag matches

 

1. Up and Comer comes close but just barely loses the match

2. Up and comer wins the match

3. Superstar wins (usualy by cheating) to keep their credibility while the up and comer uses their win to elevate themselves

 

I forgot to mention that in match #2 the up and comer usualy wins on either a mistake by the superstar or a flash pin, (roll up, small package, reversal)

BTW, you were using that and comparing it to Angle/Benoit. The second match was just a Benoit win. No fluke or anything. But I don't really have a problem with that.

Benoit/Angle parts 2 and 3 were gimmick matches though, I only cited that feud for it's 3 match spanning period.

 

HBK VS Jannetty of 1993 is the best example.

 

1. RR 1993, HBK beats Jannetty

2. RAW May 1993, Jannety wins IC Title on a fluke small package

3. House show, HBK regains title thanks to bodyguard Diesel.

Jannetty is the best example you could think of where a lesser star got elevated?

Didn't the Rockers have a cage match against each other around that time, too?  I saw some pictures of it in some old magazine.
