The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

Recommended Posts

Wasn't XPW also the place where Ron Killings got his start?

Definitely not. He was already a fairly big superstar before coming to XPW in June or July 2002.

Didn't he show up in XPW after he was released from the WWF? I know his run in WWF as K-Kwik wasn't all that memorable or all that good but he did get a push (albeit a brief one) in the biggest wrestling promotion in the world...

He also showed up in TNA around that time. If anything, his XPW stint is kind of a footnote in his career.

Yeah. He was released from the WWF in...late '01? Early '02? Then he joined up with TNA, and right after he became Ron "The Truth" Killings as opposed to K-Krush he also started working for XPW. I think he did a Black Panthers-esque tag team, though I can't be too sure on that. Barber?

Correct.

As far as Messiah, there is personal heat (mainly if not entirely on Messiah's side) between he and Kevin Kleinrock. Messiah does shows very rarely.

Killings actually could show up. He has a very good relationship with Kleinrock. The question on my mind is if they will do the moral thing and let Rizzono get the goodbye he deserves.

cool to hear about the reunion show, too bad Im back in NY now or I would have gone to see it. The season 2 set looks better done than the original IMO (though they added background music to the kloss/rivera segments, and even the Rob Black "shoot" on Heyman, which kinda distracts from it a bit) I suppose they added the music to make up for the bad quality audio on the older xpw shows.

as far as how good or bad XPW was: my fandom has little to do with the actual ring action, although there were a number of very talented wrestlers in XPW such as Kaos and Webb. I adhere to the "so bad, it's good" theory. I enjoyed the offbeat, low-budget skits, and the colorful cast of characters involved with the show.

a side note, the season 2 set has little matches cuz XPW didnt run a live show after "Go Funk Yourself" in July 2000 until around October of the year.

Here's hoping we get a season 3 set soon, as we are nearing New Jack's debut and Big Dick Dudleys return at the end of season 2.

I doubt Killings will be there. WWE told him he can keep working non-WWE bookings until late March.

The XPW: Cold Day in Hell revival event will take place 5/24 at Aviation Park in Redondo Beach, CA, with the event being taped for a Big Vision Entertainment DVD release. Talent scheduled thus far for the event are Sabu,The Sandman, a Gangstas reunion with New Jack and Mustafa teaming for the first time in nearly a decade, Vampiro, Psicosis, Supreme, Homeless Jimmy, Vic Grimes, Kaos, Pogo the Clown, Angel, Nosawa, Tool, GQ Money, and Altar Boy Luke. It's pretty impressive that they found Mustafa because Hardcore Homecoming wanted him bad for a Gangstas reunion in 2005 and were unable to track him down. Webb/Supreme/Jimmy three-way. I'm calling it. If it's anything like the Kronus/Webb/Jimmy three-way from Go Funk Yourself, it'd be fun. SPIDER GERMAN through a table...OH FUCK, JIMMY MISSED THE TABLE~!

TERRY FUNK SIGNS DEAL THAT WILL BRING HIM BACK TO WRESTLING

by Mike Johnson @ 2008-03-20 15:14:55

Big Vision Entertainment has come to terms with former NWA and ECW World champion Terry Funk to be part of their XPW: Cold Day in the Hell reunion show and to take part in another new Big Vision project that is about to launch shortly. I don't believe Funk will be wrestling as part of either venture. More when we get it.

And the long-awaited debut of DOOMHAMMER! -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMrwuP3aL2o

For the uninitiated:

http://www.czwfans.com/board/viewtopic.php...278e11ea57889e9

Doomhammer was a student at the XPW asylum, he had a great size on him, and he may have debuted shortly after I did had it not been for the fact that he really wanted to use the "Doomhammer" as a finisher.

They had a gimmick all set up for him, but he insisted on doing it his way. They finally said fuck it, lets do it. They ran two promos for him but the company folded before he could make his debut.

The doomhammer is as follows:

He climbs the top rope

Yells out "I SUMMON THEE DOOOOMMMHHHAAMMMEERRRR"

Then dives off the top rope with a punch to the head.

Troop Slam

A Benefit Show For Our Veterans & Troops

Saturday, May 10, 2008

VFW Post 3982

1313 Franklin Street at Monroe

Santa Clara, CA

Attendance: 167

Featuring “Gigolo” Steve Rizzono’s first appearance on a pro wrestling show in four years

1. Santa Clara's own Kimo Kanaloa def. "Glamorous" Ryan Von Kool and Mike Silva after pinning Silva in a Young Lion's Challenge match, advancing into the 4-way TroopSlam Title match main event.

Post-match, Silva and Kimo had a small disagreement over Kimo pinning him. However, as Kimo was exiting, Kool brutally beat him down. Silva eventually ran Kool away. Kimo's ribs, back, and elbow were all damaged.

2. The Good Ole Boys: Mother Truckin' Otis & Maynard Skynard def. Kryptonite & "Russian Wolf" Alexis Darevko w/ Buddy Sotello, ESQ., via a double chokeslam pin.

3. Kid Omega def. Mikey "The Dragon" Hayashi via pin.

4. Santa Clara native Jason Styles def. "Rated S Superstar" Chico Vavarro by pin.

5. "Italian Superman" Vennis DeMarco & Killer J Matthias def. The Channel Surfers by DQ when Steve Rizzono intentionally got the Channel Surfers DQ'd by hitting Killer J with his cane after getting out of his wheelchair.

Post-match, everyone thought Rizzono was trying to help the Channel Surfers who he was managing. However, it turns out that it was all a plot by the former "Rizzono Mafia" crew from APW of DeMarco, Tiffany, and Rizzono, with their new big man, Killer J.

6. "The Innovator" Vinnie Massaro (substitute for Puma) def. "Fly Daddy" Jardi Frantz by pin in a Falls Count Anywhere match.

7. Santa Clara's own Kimo Kanaloa def. Ridiculous Mike Rayne, Brian Cage and El Chupacabra to become the FIRST EVER TroopSlam Champion by pinning Chupacabra in a Match of the Year candidate!

Photos of the show should hopefully be up soon at myspace.com/steverizzono

I actually Ref'ed at that Troopslam show. It was a fun show, I hate to say it but the crowd was dead, you could honestly hear a pin drop if you listened closely enough. It was my first time meeting Steve Rizzono and he's a very nice guy who seemed in high spirts thoughout as the night went on. He seemed to enjoy the show as well as he was sitting out and watching every match as they took place. Hopefully I get to work with him again as he was just a cool person to talk to.

I got Season 3 this week. God Rob Black is so bad. He's like a 5th rate Vince Russo. I'm back into XPW and started buying the old dvds at the porn shops. I'm really happy we're getting every tv episode on DVD.

Is this retrospective ever gonna finish? I have a feeling that XPW has a better story than ECW ever did.

Oh yeah another comment I re-watched the first XPW episode and wow Shane Douglas, what a dumb cock he turned out to be. That has to be the dumbest most arrogant promo ever. I would love someone to edit all his promos with footage from Hogan's match at WM 18, Flair's retirment ceremony and footage of Target with Leave the Memories Alone playing in the background. He's so arrogant and he has nothing to be arrogant about. Is it safe to say Shane Douglas sucked?

He did, he sucked. I'd rather see Johnny Webb and Chris Hammrick win the WWE title than ever see Douglas in ANY RING EVER AGAIN!

I just got the Season 3 dvd last week, and the first disc alone is worth the purchase. We get Kleinrock delivering a taped Onita promo to Sabu and Josh Lazie in a hotel room (and you think WWE is bad with the magical camera). For some reason it was funny to watch Sabu using a remote. Then you get the press conforerence with Black announcing he is selling XPW to Onita, then renouncing his US citizenship and wiping his ass with the American flag, Onita comes and rants forever, and you can't understand a word he says. Then he attacks Sabu and then light the American flag on fire (which is clipped out understandably) and burns Sabu's face on it, all the while Kloss and Rivera are overacting. All this setup for a match that never happened. Then you get the famous Supreme-Messiah parking lot brawl, with Black's weak-chairshot assault on Supreme. Lizzy Borden kidnapped and the horribly cheesy vignettes of that. Plus we get more of NC and the debut of Sulu. And the disturbing Webb-Jessica vs Tool and Cypher angle.
