Best of 1993

Recommended Posts

1993 ahhhh what a year...I started highschool then lol

and what was happening then hmm...

Japanese Light heavyweight Tournaments starts and would be the prototype for Super J Cup Tournaments a year to come

A Garbage promotion in Japan Called W*ING was reaching its Zenth before its eventual destruction a few years later..

WCW was maturing but still wasn't the calibur of anything spectacular..

and a Little known Pennsylvanian Independant Fed backed by NWA started to grow in popularity regionally until it changed owners and became Extreme

enough of that...

The best match I saw in 1993 was Tatanka vs Shawn Michaels Wm 9..

Was the first match on the card and it was by far the best. kinda makes you want to turn the tape off after the first 25 minutes because of the match

your opinions now.

First off, a "Only & Only Favorite Old School Matches" thread was created to stop these "Best of" threads. Since you planned on doing this to the year 1997 (Which was 5 years ago and fits the "Anything over 5 years is Old School" time-line). So as a friendly suggestion, please drop the best match of year "x" talk, take it to the One & Only thread pinned at the top of the Old School folder, and make the  threads to talk about what happened in the wrestling business that year ie. "The Year of 1993". Example; In 1993 Bill Watts was removed as WCW V.P., etc.

To start this trend I will give more things that happened in 1993.

Bills Watts is removed as WCW V.P.

Eric Bischoff becomes the new man in charge of WCW.

Ric Flair leaves the WWF to return to WCW. Flair's first WCW appearance in nearly two years happens at Superbrawl III.

Jim Ross leaves WCW for the WWF.

Hulk Hogan wins the WWF Title at WM 9 after pinning Yokozuna in less than a minute.

Hulk Hogan wrestles his last WWF match (He's back now, but he was out of the WWF for 9 years) at the first ever "King of the Ring" showed on PPV, losing the WWF Title to the man he won it from at WM 9, Yokozuna.

"Mean" Gene leaves the WWF for WCW.

Posters started telling me (Via PM) that there were too many "best of" (Especially when every year was popping up), best old school music, etc., threads. When those types of threads had already been done in the past. I didn't have a problem with them until others started too.

What's not being understood here? Put it all in one thread and don't make anymore. Simple as that.. -Jim

I think my favorite match of 1993 is Marty Jannetty Vs. Shawn Michaels from an episode of WWF Monday Night Raw.

Thanks.

I didn't mean to be rude, I'm sorry. But Tony already pinned up a thread specifically for this, and another was started. I just didn't understand why. No problems. -JM

I think the best event was King Of The Ring, when it started it was new, fresh, and I remember loving the tournament format. I was really in awe.

I was 13, a mark then. I remember that there was a Hogan lookalike in the front row. I thought it WAS Hogan, watching KOTR to see who his next challenger was. Shame he was still there in the Hogan/'Zuna match, completly baffling me :)
