DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 WFAN reported he passed away in Florida today. For those who didn't know, he was one of the best announcers for the Mets (and in baseball in general)......it's a sad day.
strummer 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 Longtime Mets radio announcer Bob Murphy passed away today from complications from lung cancer. Generations of Mets fan grew up listening to him as he worked for the Mets from 1962-2003. We'll miss you Murph.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 3, 2004 Really is a shame. I kind of liked listening to Bob when the Yankees weren't on.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2004 He had a hell of a voice for radio, whenever I hear the Mets on FAN it doesn't sound the same without him. RIP.
