I'm pretty sure most of you have seen this commercial by now. The one where the dad wants to watch a channel, the daughter tells him to ask her mom, and then the mother tells him no. This commercial is as fake as can be.

 

This is how I picture it going:

 

Dad: "Debbie, how come I can't get this channel?"

Debbie: "Mom blocked it."

Dad: "Oh, she did, did she? Honey, can you come in here?"

Mom: Yes, dear?"

Dad: "Did you block this channel?"

Mom" Um, yes."

Dad: Debbie, go to your room."

Debbie: "But-"

Dad: "Go to your room!"...."So, I'm paying the bills, and you're trying to prevent me from watching what I paid for?"

Mom: "I was just trying to-"

Dad: "I don't give a shit what you were trying to do. Now, you unblock this channel right now, or I'll call the cable company and have them disconnect our service. That'll be it for your 'stories.' So, are you going to do it, bitch?"

Mom: "Yes, yes, just don't do that; please."

 

Thus ends this edition of "Modern Redneck Theater."

I use the channel locks on my directv box to block out the shopping channels, religious networks, and the women's interest channels.

I wouldn't block out the shopping channels. Who knows? You might just see Don West blowing his load over Pokémon cards.

 

On second thought - block it. Don West is terrible.
