Four stars? I assume Ahmed Johnson and the Warrior died on the way to the ring.

Cool stuff so far. I'd like to start something similar to this soon.

Shawn, Owen and Davey i would imagine carried the match pretty solid and Vader and Ahmed could have had some decent power stuff and Warrior would have been soundly reduced.

I've been pretty intrigued by this. Good work.

- WWF tag team Champions The Smoking Gunns defeated The Godwinns, The Body Donnas and The New Rockers (10:29) in a "Fatal 4-way" match. **

Did you have to spike Warrior's steroids?

And I'd put the comments in before the match they relate to.

By doing that you drastically change how the course of wrestling set off, with Austin issuing the challenge to Hart and calling him out, instead he is thrust into the main event with Bret as the referee.

Sounds like a bad idea to blow off his return as a referee.

You had Vader go over Shawn in the previous ppv but don't follow up on it, and had Vader go over Shawn @ KOTR.

It seems like Austin is slapped into a match against Shawn while Vader clearly was the #1 contender.

Austin could have used getting snubbed for his "rightful" title shot as more venom to spew.

I would have replaced Vader Vs Shawn with Shawn getting the concise victory to blow that angle off, put Austin over Sid(to continue his rise to the top) and Triple H over Mero and put Ahmed/Warrior Vs Owen and Davey.

I like how he changed it...

With this the main event scene has HBK, Austin, Vader, Taker and Bret with Mankind, HHH, Mero, and Sid just below that in the upper midcard during Sept 1996.

In reality it was HBK, Vader, and Taker at main event with Mankind and Sid at the upper midcard. Austin was wrestling Yokozuna on free for all that Summerslam, there was no Bret, and HHH and Mero were midcard at best.

I like the new version.

So you had Vader go over Shawn in two ppv events over the summer, passed him over for the next two ppvs...

why? it makes it look like Shawn is ducking Vader...esp when Vader WAS named the #1 contender after beating Warrior @ Summer Slam.

However, Bret Hart prevented Austin from using the chair, and in the process distracted Austin so that Michaels could deliver the superkick. The next night on Raw, Vader manager, Jim Cornette, demanded that Vader received a WWF title shot since he was still undefeated and held two victories over the champion. Glad you have started this up again.

Glad to see no mention of Kamala and Giant Gonzalez in the history of 1993.

Really enjoyed reading it - however it would have been cool if you included the Raw / superstarts results back in the day - just so we could keep up to date on your booking of the b shows and the mid card that wouldn't make it to PPV.

Look forward to Wrestlemanina and the rest of 1997 :-)

Keep it up

So the Champion had no involvement in the final four ppv?

He could have at least cut a promo or something or been ringside for the final four match to "scout" his potential challengers.

(The night after In Your House: Final Four a tournament began to crown the 1st ever WWF Television Champion. The participants in the tournament were Davey Boy Smith, Marc Mero, Rocky Maivia, Owen Hart, Bob Holly, Ahmed Johnson, Ron Simmons and Brian Pillman.)

Smith pinned Owen (19:58) to become the first ever WWF Television Champion. **** ½

2) The Godwinns v. The New Blackjacks

These two teams square off on Raw is War two weeks before WrestleMania. In that match, both teams were disqualified. This is a rematch.)

Barry Windham pinned Henry Godwinn (6:23) to give his team the victory. ¾ *

3) Rocky Maivia v. "Wildman" Marc Mero

(These two men were paired up in the tournament to crown the WWF Television Champion. In their encounter, Rocky Maivia was able to come out on top when he pinned Marc Mero with a cross-body block from the top rope. The next weekend on WWF Superstars, The Wildman turned heel when he attacked Maivia. The following week, this match was announced.)

Mero pinned Maivia (8:17) with a rollup from behind and a handful of tights. **

4) Stone Cold Steve Austin v. “The Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman

(Stone Cold and The Loose Cannon had teamed up on several occasions since both had entered the WWF. They even scored a victory over the team of Bret Hart & Marc Mero at the December In Your House PPV. But things changed after Austin turned babyface at the last In Your House. After he made his turn, Pillman began running down Austin during his interviews, and even attacked him during a match on Raw is War. Every time Austin tried to get revenge on Pillman for his betrayal, the Loose Cannon ran for the hills. This is the Rattlesnakes chance to gain a little bit of revenge.)

Austin pinned Pillman (12:11) after a “Stone Cold” Stunner.” ** ¾

5) WWF Intercontinental Championship: Hunter Hearst Helmsley v. Goldust

(Goldust turned babyface back in early-December 1996 when Helmsley began to make advances towards Marlena, the manager of Goldust. It was then revealed that she was not only his manager, but also his wife. They met at the following PPV, In Your House: Brawl for All. In the match, Goldust was able to come out on top. Just 3 days prior to In Your House: Final Four, Helmsley regained the WWF Intercontinental title from Marc Mero. Two weeks after regaining the championship, Helmsley was attacked by Goldust during a title defense. Shortly after that happened, it was announced that they would square off one more time, but this the WWF Intercontinental Championship would be on the line.)

Goldust pinned Helmsley (12:23) to win the title.

6) Psycho Sid v. Mankind

(Mankind was instrumental in eliminating Psycho Sid from the Final Four match at the last In Your House. One week later, Mankind was able to score a victory over Sid, with a little assistance from Big Van Vader, in a match on Raw is War.)

Sid pinned Mankind (9:42) by disqualification after Paul Bearer interfered. * ¾

7) Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon v. The Headbangers

Furnas pinned Thrasher (7:25) to give his team they victory. **

8) “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels v. Bret “The Hitman” Hart

(This feud at last years WrestleMania. At that time, Bret was the WWF Champion. They collided in a 60-minute Iron-man match for the championship. The match went into overtime, and the Heartbreak Kid came out on top. After that match, the Hitman decided that he needed to take some time off. He returned, for 1 night, at SummerSlam to referee the WWF title match between Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin. Bret inadvertently helped HBK retain the title. The hitman a fulltime return to WWF the night after In Your House: Mind Games. When he made his return he made it perfectly clear that he didn’t like Michaels and had no respect for him. Over the course of the next several months, both men were involved in other battles, but they always seemed to take insult each other every chance they got. Flash forward to In Your House: Final Four. Hart had just won a submission match over Steve Austin when Austin passed out while in the sharpshooter. During the course of the match Bret & Austin seemed to switch roles. When the match was over Bret had now turned heel, and Austin was the babyface. That same evening, Michaels was involved in a Final Four match to determine who would received a WWF title shot at WrestleMania. Michaels had just eliminated Psycho Sid from the match when he was attacked by Bret Hart. Bret beat on Michaels until several referees intervened, but it was already to late for the Heartbreak Kid. Mankind quickly eliminated Michaels. The next night on Raw is War, WWF President Gorilla Monsoon made the announcement that Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels would square off in a match at WrestleMania XIII.)

Hart defeated Michaels (26:48) after Michaels submitted to the “Sharpshooter.” **** ½ After the match, the Hitman attacked the Heartbreak Kid and “broke” his leg.

9) Chicago Street Fight: Ahmed Johnson & The Road Warriors v. The Nation of Domination

(Ahmed Johnson and Ron Simmons have been feuding since last years SummerSlam. At that event, Ahmed was challenging for the WWF Intercontinental title when Simmons made his debut and attacked him. The following month, at In Your House: Mind Games, Ron Simmons injured Ahmed during their match and put him on the shelf for several months. Ahmed made his return at the Royal Rumble in January. That match went to a no contest. Just after the last In Your House, a match was made between Ahmed & Simmons for WrestleMania. However, Ahmed realized that he would never get a fair one-on-one match up with Simmons as long as he had his Nation of Domination at his side. So he enlisted some help from The Road Warriors and the match was then changed into a 6-man Chicago Street Fight.)

Ahmed scored the victory for his team when he pinned Crush (15:54). ***

10) WWF Championship: Big Van Vader v. The Undertaker

(Vader has been in the WWF for a little over a year at this point, and has yet to be defeated.
