Guest mickberna Report post Posted April 29, 2002 He did? And what is that history Channel special called? Is it new? The History Channel special, called "Bodyslam: The History of Professional Wrestling" has been running here and there for the last few months, and probably before that. It's not very new, as it ends at the beginning of the Attitude era with a couple clips of Austin/Mcmahon, and most of the WWF footage includes Shawn Michaels, Mankind and Taker from 96-97. The WCW stuff is mostly NWO, DDP, and Alex Wright (I think). It's a really good special to learn more about the old carny days of wrestling, and about the early days of TV (Buddy Rogers, Gorgeous George, etc.) However, the best part in the entire show is when Lou Thesz himself rates Hulk Hogan as a wrestler... and gives him a "one or a zero". Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 No the funniest part was when Thesz said something like this in regards to Hogan's famous leg drop "My grandmother could pull off a more devastating leg drop than him"
Guest Nater Report post Posted April 29, 2002 Damn.. maybe we can all catch some of his talent on ESPN classics. Other famous greats have graced their (grr) middle of the night programming... great stuff regardless.
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 I think Jim Ross will probably mention something about Lou Thesz, but I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't. They still didn't post anything on WWf.com yet. They didn't mention Chris Adams, they didn't mention Wahoo McDanials and they didn't mention Helen Hart. Which really pissed me off. Last time I remember WWF really doing anything "Special" for a Wrestlers death was for Yokosuna. I remember Undertaker had a Yokosuna T-Shirt on that night also. I thought that was a class act. Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 I remember Ross mentioning Helen Hart's death... I distinctly remember him saying something like "our condolences go out to the Hart family on their recent loss" on RAW
Guest RicFlairGlory Report post Posted April 29, 2002 I remember Ross mentioning Helen Hart's death... I distinctly remember him saying something like "our condolences go out to the Hart family on their recent loss" on RAW yeah but thats the hart family, not lou thez and nobody'll boycott a frigging thing
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 If am Wrong? Then, I'm wrong, but I'll be damned if they mentioned Helen Hart. I don't remember that at all!
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 I might just be imagining it... I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't mention it but it seems like I remember hearing something in passing
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 They had something on wwf.com about her. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 you're probably right... just curious, when Gordon Solie died, was it mentioned on RAW by Jim Ross maybe (afterall he was Solie's protege so to speak)? I know Nitro had like a ten bell salute or something
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted April 29, 2002 you're probably right... just curious, when Gordon Solie died, was it mentioned on RAW by Jim Ross maybe (afterall he was Solie's protege so to speak)? I know Nitro had like a ten bell salute or something WCW has a ten bell salute, JR did a short video package at the opening of Raw, and ECW did a moment of silence on ECW on TNN. WWF better just do something, like just a mentioning at the beginning of it just to pay this man his respect. I hope Austin busts out that mother fucking Thesz Press tonight. That would be huge mark out.
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 I feel really ashamed to say this but, (Ducks his head) I never seen the real Thesz Press. btw, off the subject, how do you get a picture to show in the Signature? I typed in the URL and that's all that came up?
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 The actual Thesz Press is much different than the version Austin does... instead of riding your opponent down and giving some punches (or more accurately described by Foley as "the Dick to the Mouth") the actual Thesz Press was more of a flying body scissors
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 29, 2002 I am deeply saddened... there are no words that can best describe the contributions Thesz gave to Professional Wrestling... during a time when it was wrestling, not "sports entertainment." This is a truly sad day for a true wrestling fan. If the WWF doesn't acknowledge Thesz in some way, then I am going to completely boycott it for a long time. Not mentioning Wahoo McDaniel is one thing... but this is freakin' Lou Thesz for God's sake. oh shut the fuck up you lying sack of shit if they dont have a 10 bell salute, you wont boycott, you'll turn it off for five minutes, then think, maybe lance storm might get on, stop masturbating..., or not, and put TNN back on why? because you are worse than a mark sheep, you're a smark sheep. No matter what happens, you wont turn away, because far too much of your life is dependant on 4 hours of television programming every week. You need the WWF, cause you have nothing else to do with your time but bitch about storylines and workrate Greatest post ever. I feel the same way about so many people but I just never had a reason to write it, and I don't think I could have nailed it that well either.
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 and yet, WWF still hasn't mentioned or posted any type of Tribute on WWF.com yet to Thesz.

I don't live and breath wrestling. I'm more passionate about Lou Thesz because of the fact that I've been studying the man for over a year now. He was a fascinating man and although I am too young for that era, I considerd myself a fan of his. For the WWF not to acknowledge his death in some way, is a travesty... and can I boycott the WWF? Sure I can. I personally have been getting quite bored with the product and have been thinking about just stopping watching it completely. I don't hate the product like some of you do... I'm just bored with it. The only problem, is that no matter how many times I tell myself that I'm bored with the WWF, I can't seem to stop watching it... and not mentioning Thesz's death would be the perfect excuse for me to just stop watching the WWF product. Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 riiiiiiiiiiiiight... you have issues dude... what are you going to say next? Are you going to insult my mom? Hey, why don't you say something like "my dad could beat up your dad" or call me a "poop head" ?
Guest Report post Posted April 29, 2002 Calling other people "poop Head" = Ratings.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted April 30, 2002 RIP Lou. I guarantee they'll do the 10-bell salute for Lou on Raw. He did way too much for the business for them to just mention it in passing. Shows how much I know. I guess I credited Vince w/ too much class.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted April 30, 2002 Freaking Lou Thesz dies and no mention. And Austin did the Thesz press. But as I said in the One and Only Raw Thread, you could tell JR wanted to say something about it. He paused too long before calling the move, he's never done that on that move before.
