This is kind of off-topic but...I think referring to people as "white" and "black" is just plain ludracris.  Scientists think we all descend from an African woman, so we all have "black" in us.  Races are, basically, IMO, an illusion. >>>

 

 

I thought that oldest known human remains were found a few years back in Australia, not Africa.

Actually, I watched this entire special on the Discovery channel the other day that was talking about how we all decended from this African woman.  They weren't saying that she was the first woman but...you know let me stop here before I say something wrong....Let me look at it again and get the fact straight first.

I read a little about this the other day.  In a nutshell the human race began in Africa.  Some of these early humans moved away in search of food.  Most of these hunters who moved began to populate Europe, Asia, and eventually North America.  The people who stayed behind in Africa developed dark skin and brittle hair because of all of the direct sunlight hitting Africa.  The rest of the people tended to stay above the equator and didn't really need dark skin to fight off the UV rays.

 

I'm not sure if I totally agree with that, but that is how one book puts it.  I'm sure there are other scientific theories also.

It is true that the human race DID start in Africa, however, the oldest human remains were found in Australia. (Near Canberra I believe)
