So which match did you like better?

Benoit vs Orton at Summerslam or Benoit vs ORton at the following Raw? Discuss

I was thinking about which match I liked better last night. To me, the starting of Raw's match was better simply because there's nothing more fun than mad face Benoits destroying anything and everything in his way. It was also done real well with Orton fighting back just a tiny bit but always to no avail. I loved Orton avoiding the suicide dive only for Benoit to nail him with the dropkick off the apron.

Benoit's comeback after getting beaten down I liked a little better on the PPV match. There they did a double cross bodyblock and a series of forearm shots with Benoit finally taking over. The way they did the series of forearm short reminded me a liittle bit of All Japan and that's always good. On Raw they subsituted the double crossbody for a double neackbreaker. The forearm sequence wasn't quite as good as the PPV but I think they were worried a little bit about people thinking they were just copying move for move from last night. The knee to the stomach ruled all too. So while I was a fan of the innovative double neckbreaker spot and the neat knee to the stomach because it was cool and different from the night before I thought the sequence of moves for Benoit's comeback was a little bit better the night before on PPV. On the Raw match Orton cuts off Benoit's comeback real quick with that wierd neckbreaker of his. On the PPV I belive Benoit got more offence in before Orton cut him off. Anyway I kind of liked the way Orton cut him off on Raw. It gave the match a pretty intense feeling for me and it was something ORton needed to do because he needed a big move to stop physo Chris Benoit from regaining his title. The remaining part of the match was all intense as well with Benoit busting out even more sweet offence with the vertical suplex where he dropped Orton face first.

I won't deny it. I loved Benoit channeling Kobashi the other night with his two suicide like bumps. The first bump made sense as it gave Orton a logical reason to swith from the arm to the neck and the second bump also worked on Benoit's neck giving Orton his desperate time he needed to recover from the 6 german suplexes. The ending was clean as well so that's a plus as compared to the Raw match. The PPV ending was also cool because they played off of the spot where Benoit counters Orton's RKO into the crossface. This time he countered Benoit's countering.

I don't know. While I liked some things about the PPV match I thnked I liked the Raw match just a touch better because it was just that more intense and Benoit was busting out all that cool offence. I also liked the double neckbreaker spot.

SummerSlam by a long shot. The clean finish helped a lot as well as the sportsmanship conduct from Benoit, it was so touching.

I think pegasus should review more matches. I love read his reviews. He even made me want to watch a Kane match a couple of months ago.

Thank you. The main problems I have with reviewing matches are 3 fold. Mainly, I'm a nice guy and don't like to criticize because I have a good appreciation of what the wrestlers are going through and I feel bad about it. I also can't review matches that I don't care too much about which happens to be quite a bit because I've become a little jaded after having the privilege of watching a great number of fantastic matches.

I still think Orton's green. Notice how on the Raw and Smackdown mathces they cut short the part of the match where the heel controls the match after the face typically dominates at the start. They also managed to keep his offence minimized in both matches at the end of the bouts. Plus watch how Orton didn't let Benoit roll through with the attempted crossbodyblock and how he immediatly went for the RKO. I believe here that after Benoit rolled through the crossbody he would've set Orton up for an attempted RKO via suplex or whatever. Instead we lost that transistion. The one good thing I like about Orton is his fistacuff back and forth spot he starting using in his bout against Benjamin.

One neat thing I just thought about with the Raw match was what Benoit did right befoe headbutting Orton from the top rope. He laid him out on his stomach side instead of his back so Orton wouldn't kick him in the face like he did at Summerslam. There was no way that was coincidence.

Did anybody else hear that rumour that the WWE thought the crowd turned agaisnt Summerslam because of the slow pace of the matches? Perhaps that's one of the reasons why we got a more intense -fast paced match on Monday than we did at Slam.
