Guest SP-1 Report post Posted August 20, 2004 Cross posting this from my LiveJournal. The link is worth checking into if you like models and replicas. I've recently been on a huge Back to the Future kick. And why not. They're fantastic movies, never losing quality in any way despite being a trilogy. Believe it or not, despite the modern example of LORD OF THE RINGS, trilogies don't always turn out very good (see: REVOLUTIONS, MATRIX). Back to the Future, however, not only holds up as a cohesive story, but also stands the test of time. Which is amazing for any movie released in 1985. So I've been surfing around, and I came across this Before I continue this shill, I'd like to say a few words about the preceeding link. This kind of thing is where the Internet gets retarded. I was going to post the pic of the DeLorean model and rave about how awesome and detailed it is, especially at such a good price. However, when I went to copy the link to the image itself, the host site was all, "SORRY, THIS IMAGE IS COPYRIGHTTED~!" as if I were going to autograph it as "Doc Brown" and sell it on eBay. So, you just have to click the link above to see it. NOW, I'll rave about how awesome it is. Welly has produced a fantastic series of models here. There are three of them, each one representing the DeLorean as it appeared in a respective Back to the Future film. The link above shows the DeLorean from the original BTTF, with the original mini-nuclear fusion reactor on the back, and the lightning rod connected to it (if you haven't seen the movies, you don't know about the lightning rod, but rest assured it is one of the coolest moments in the movie). The second model available is the DeLorean from BTTF 2, which sports the super awesome MR. FUSION reactor which Doc installed during his trip to the future. MR. FUSION, of course, only powered the time circuits and did NOT serve as a fuel source for the combustion engine. As we would learn in BTTF 3, the car has always run on normal gasoline. The third model is from, naturally, BTTF 3 and sports the most modifications from the original design. With the time circuits fried (won't tell you how), Doc must rebuild them using 1955 parts, resulting in a much larger set of time circuits, built on the hood of the car. The wheels also had to be replaced, meaning the 3rd model also sports the redwall tires from 1955, complete with the shiny silver hub in the middle. On all three models, the DeLorean's distinctive gull-wing doors do, in fact, open, and the interior is supposedly detailed with the time circuits and the flux capacitor and such. I'd like to have all three of the models to display in my room this year, along with my Ecto 1 and the Ghosbusters statues/figures that should come out later this year from NECA. So, that's my shill. If you've never seen the BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy, you need to get off the stupid internet and go rent the DVD's. Really, just go buy them. After you view the films, you'll feel an intrinsic need to buy them anyway. Trust me on THAT, you fools.
