I need some cool techno songs. I am new to this type of music and want to hear more of it. I listened to the Hacker soundtrack and it is really cool. Any good song like those out there? Thanks.

I'm not really a techno fan, but i liked the soundtrack for Fight Club. I have no clue if that is considered good techno or if that helps you at all, but i was just throwing that out there.

anything by the Chemical Brothers or the Dust Brothers are above average.  The intro theme song from Fight Club rules!!!

Yeah I downloaded the theme to Fast and the Fuious and a few other songs on there. I would go buy the cd but I'm too damn lazy to go buy it and I have DSL so it's no problem.

The problem with you asking for a style as basic as techno would be the same if I asked what some good "rock" songs were.  There are so many different kinds of electronica music (I detest the term "techno", I don't know why) - from house to jungle to trip-hop to drum 'n bass to trance... there are many more sub-genres, and them tjere are sub-sub-genres on top of that.  My problem is that I like some of the sub-genres in general but I don't know many particular artists.  With that being said, here are some that I know and like...

Aphrodite, Roni Size - Jungle/Drum 'n Bass

Jungle Brothers - Jungle

Crystal Method, Prodigy, Orgy - Semi-Industrial (not really industrial but I don't know the exact sub-genre for it)

Mars & Mystre - Trance (I don't really like trance but I like Mars & Mystre, because they're not totally trance)

Sorry, seems my lack of knowledge in the genre has made things more confusing.  Forget the sub-genre talk, read about that on an electronic music website that would know and explain it much better, but check out those artists I listed, since you have DSL and it's no skin off your back if you don't like 'em.

"Heaven Scent" is an amazing song by Bedrock, John Digweed's recording pseudonym, that's the one in Groove.

Pick up Juno Reactor's album Beyond the Infinite for some of the best big-time trance: check out "Guardian Angel" and "Samurai" for representative samples.  Juno Reactor is my absolute favorite electronic artist of any kind: they've put out four albums that all sound different but rock the house in oh-so many ways.  If you're looking at stuff that's beat heavy, I recommend Goldie's album SaturnzReturn, though that has a lot of experimental and softer stuff too.  Hallmark track: "Digital," a collaboration with KRS-One that absolutely rocks the house.  A lot of Moby's earlier work and soundtrack stuff is fantastic: "Go" is classic, and the "Next Is The E Club Mix" is really awesome, if a bit more dance than techno.  The Chemical Brothers' Dig Your Own Hole is a landmark album: "Block Rockin' Beats" and "The Private Psychadelic Reel" will go ahead and blow your brain out.  When Sasha and Digweed work together, everything they turn out is gold.  My favorite mix of theirs is Northern Exposure: Expedition, which has a bunch of great songs all tied together over two discs.

Some other random tracks?  Leftfield w/Afrika Bambaata, "Afrika Shox."  Featured in Vanilla Sky, and quite rockin'.  "The Silence," which is Delerium featuring a great Sarah McLachlan sample.  "Never Gonna Come Back Down," a fast, heavy, rocking track with M. Doughty from Soul Coughing doing vocals.

If you want some slower stuff, Trip-hop kind of music, go with Portishead's album Dummy (top track: "Mysterons," or perhaps "Sour Times"), Massive Attack's Mezzanine (hit up "Risingson" and "Angel"), or some Lamb (signature songs "Cotton Wool," "Gold").  All that stuff is a bit slower, deeper, and more vocal-based, but still pretty awesome.
