Live Raw thoughts

RAW Notes

Outside the arena, there was a radio station giving away tickets by using wrestling trivia questions. I knew the answers most of them, which was kind of scary.

The doors opened about 15 minutes before HeAT. Before Heat, they showed that desire video and I think the Hogan portion got a pop.

We sat directly to side of announce team which was great because we could the entrance ramp. We could see the production crew. I saw Dean Malenko looking onward at the IC title match and I wish I got his autograph or something.

Half the upper bowl was tarped off

Heat started off with Rodney Mack w/ Jazz vs. Maven. Maven got a loud pop. Rodney Mack pinned Maven with a roll up and grabbing on to the ropes. Maven left the ring in our direction but I couldn’t get a picture in time

Ollie Local Indy Guy vs. Chuck Palumbo was next. This was squash match, which ended when Chuck did this great looking fall away slam.

Tyson Tomko came out with Trish, There were boos for him and cheers for her. The greatest thing happened. I thought the match would suck till Chris Benoit came out. Chris Benoit!!! This was the first time I got to see him wrestle live. Benoit was over and he carried the match. He hit six German Suplexes in a row and the Crossface and Tomko tapped out.

Howard Finkel told us to cheer for the camera; I suppose it was for a lead in for Raw.

Howard left and came in our in our direction. We got to shake his hand and he thanked us for coming.

Jim Ross and Lawler came out to separate theme music and the pyro for Raw came on. It was so hot.

Coach came out and you guys saw the diva search and the Rock came out. He got a huge pop. The pie-eating thing was ridiculous especially the first chick. I thought it was rigged how she spoke against Carmella. She was booed out the building. I think Carmella is going to win.

La Rez came out and a huge USA chant broke out.

Kane looked really good in his white suit. Lita could have been more enthusiastic. When is she eligible to get a divorce?

Finally, a half an hour in Raw we had our first match. Again I felt the pryo. We booed Edge and then started cheering him. The match was good till the false finish. During the commercial break, Chris Jericho cut a promo on Edge (Edgeward) and Lillian announced the referee would suspend Edge indefinitely if he did not come back. Jericho won by DQ in a lame finish. Afterwards, Jericho was helped to back by the ref.

Triple H came out with Evolution and cut a good promo and then Randy Orton came out and we cheered him. The two men in front of use were Randy Orton marks. Randy spit on HHH and ran through the audience. I’m amazed that the wrestlers keep in character during character during the breaks as Evolution left disappointed.

The people in front of us pointed out Redman and Method Man. Mega Man wasn’t able to come, however.

Regal wrestled Flair in a descent match. I don’t think Eugene was over that much. I wished they had Batista/Flair vs. Regal/Eugene because I wanted to see Eugene wrestle. This was the first time I have seen Flair wrestle live and he tends to repeat spots like the back body drop. He took one during the commercial break. I liked the brass knuckles finish.

The WWE should have a side business performing weddings. I think Vince Russo might have booked this. I think it would have been better if Kane hit his pyro as soon as he came in the ring. Eric Bischoff came out with a massive amount of boos and read the Bible. The crowd chanted what! and pissed me off. The wedding went on and I saw the flames on the ramp and I thought someone would catch on fire. I love the wedding vows and we laughed at Kane’s. Kane said I do (hey, where was the Undertaker, should he have been the best man and where was the bachelor party skit.) Matt Hardy’s music played and Lita and him ran out and ran into fire. Then Matt got chokeslamed to Hell in front of us. (I don’t know what he landed on.) Lita said yes and left with Kane.

The show ended and Lillian thanked us for coming. People shouted to Lawler and he acknowledged us. Matt was stretcher our and the guys behind us yelled at Matt, telling him bring back Jeff Hardy and Jeff was more talented. I said see you in 6 to 8 months. Al Snow came out with the ring crew and I asked him politely for an autograph and he said on second. Then a production guy came out and said no autographs and Al ran to the back. I hate Al for blowing me off.

I took pictures but most of them came out blurry but I’ll post some later. I had a fun time and I liked the seats and Chris Benoit rules.

Well, depending on your feelings on the Heat shaft.

Regardless of the spot on the card...I would rather sit through Benoit/Tomko than...like....Venis/Tomko. I guess if no one watches Heat it wouldn't matter that Benoit was on Heat....yet it does please the small Heat audience that Benoit was on Heat. And no one's hurt. Since only 4 people wrestled on Raw....and Benoit still had a spot on Raw....which while small still secures his role in high profile matches.....everything...is...just...fine....happy thoughts...yay

Did UndertakerHart write this or was it taken from wrestlingnews.com or whatever? Because this has mark written all over it.

Was that a pathetic attempt to be funny?

Is niether an option?

With Benoit having some kind of real role on the big show? Considering he's the ex champ, and all.

Yeah, hi. I am a mark and I did write this. I sat in Section 210, row B, and seat 7 and my father in seat 8. When you go to a live event it brings out the mark in you.

How good was the Benoit vs Tomko match?

And did seeing the wrestlers preform live instead of TV with all the camera angles give you a different view on any of the superstars?

Thanks for any response and take care. Thaks for the report as well.

The Benoit/Tomko match was alright. It was standard heel/face stuff and Trish got involved. Benoit hit a total of nine Greman suplexes (3 then 6 in a row).

Yeah, wrestling goes faster in front of a live audience than at home. There are break in the show but they seem shorter. It didn't feel like two hours by the time the show was over.

Oh the audience laughed during the Smackdown Rebound at JBL and his neck brace.

I like Benoit and Jericho a lot more. It's hard to judge alot of people's wrestling ability when there was hardly any wrestling.

The Mega Man was supposed to be funny. I don't know much about Wu*Tang Clan.

Here is one of the better images. I had a new camera and did not know how to play with shutter speed. It's large and from HHH enterance.

HHH entrance pic

I think Al might have blown me off because I yelled at Todd Grisham during Heat. People yelled "Bring out the Coach".

Going to a live wrestling event is a unique exprience and I'm suprised The Pond wasn't full because the WWE doesn't out to California maybe 3-4 times a year.

Oh yeah, one other thing. There are alot of overwrestling fans, it's scary. I want to yell at one of them, "Hey, Scott Keith is that you?" But no one would have got that and it's sad anyway.

Raw was bloated. After a big SS match and the rematch THE NEXT NIGHT- it wasn't atonement to give Benoit a rest for a week. We know he's still feuding with Evolution and we know that will always be at a main event spot on Raw.

Jerk

Anyway, thanks for the report... but I have a question. I'll be at the Labor Day RAW on the 6th and I have "ringside" tickets (10th row on the side of the ring FACING towards the Titan Tron) and I was wondering if I might be challenged to actually see any of the action considering I'm short (5'7) because it doesnt look like WWE uses risers of any kind at the front and rear of an arena.
