Low-ki & american dragon: like their style?...

Recommended Posts

Guest Downhome

The following is from 1wrestling...

"A point was made to the camp participants about the style of work the WWF is looking for. In particular, they were told that the stiff shoot-style matches that are getting a lot of press (like Low-Ki vs. American Dragon) do not impress them. They were very negative about that style, both for the health of the participants and for the participants’ chances of getting noticed by WWF."

...so there ya have it, if you have a style like that of Low-Ki or American Dragon, you aren't wanted.

check out the Ring of Honor videos from RFVideo if you havent seen them.

as far as the WWF rejecting them, I can understand because of the stiff nature..but they dont even give them the chance to modify their style? wtf? they seem talented enough that they could make some minor adjustments.

That's pretty fuckin lame.  Wouldn't want any other styles in the WWF.  Might spark fan intrest in someone other than HHH and Taker.

I never seen American Dragon but I have seen Lo-Ki a few times. Matter of Fact, last year I went to a RAW here and for a Metal Match I got to see Lo-Ki Vs Essa Rios. AWESOME Match! Blew me away, everyone else sat with their thumbs up their ass'

Bastards!

If they dont like "that sort of style", why does Tajiri have a job in the first place

Tajiri is more Bark than Bite.  He slaps his leg during kicks to give them a solid imapct sound.  Other than that his kicks are just as stiff as RVD's, which is okay, I guess, from a WWF standpoint.

To be fair Low Ki is stiff as hell.  Might just be his Vanderli Silva type gimmick.

Oh yeah can't have those WWF "pussies" taking anything stiff(no Pat Patterson jokes damnit). Hell more WWF guys get injured more often with their soft style then Japanese guys who wrestle much stiffer. So i don't get it.

In all seriousness, why is that? I've always wondered, but have never been able to understand it, or figure it out. By the way, yes, I know that the Puroresu guys don't wrestle as many dates, from what I know, but still, it just just seems odd to me.

In Japan the training is much more rigorous. I read about the dojo training in Japan and have watched tough enough and they are world's apart. I know they work out their necks like crazy which they must if they're going to get dropped on their head without seriously injurying thmselves.

The fact that Low-Ki & American Dragon don't impress the WWF, and Maven does, speaks volumes to me.

The "WWF Style" is pure shit.  Hell, I'd rather watch two guys stiff the shit out of each other....at least the offense looks REAL.

And why couldn't they sign Christopher Daniels, because he's tried out a couple million times?

This is pretty obvious but...The WWF managment sucks.  It's made up of perverts, idiots, and those who are both.

To be fair ... the WWF guys are always on the road, so they don't get nearly as much time to let their bodies recover as most indy wrestlers do.

Who's participating in this camp, anyway?  How long do these things last?  And how often are they held?

Oh yeah can't have those WWF "pussies" taking anything stiff(no Pat Patterson jokes damnit).

The quotation marks around "pussies" made this kinda unclear to me.

Indie guys tavel just as much, if not more, than WWF guys depending on who they are. Hell, American Dragon lives in Aberdeen, WA, and spends most of his time along the East Coast. Well, it depends more on who you are.

Where does it ever say in that paragraph that they weren't intrested in Lo-Ki and AD?? It just uses thier matches as a example for the stiff style that they don't like.

I agree.  Wrestling is a work.  You can do that stuff in the indies because huge amount of storylines and TV time isn't written in for you. If you get hurt in the Indies, worst comes to worst it might cost you some money..But in the WWF, if you hurt yourself or someone else might cost the company money or change long range plans and thats just not good for business.

As for the WWF injuries, I think most occur because of the loose ropes.  Alot of their injuries are ligement tears in thier knees(which I don't care how much training you get, it will happen) and I am pretty sure those loose ropes have something to do with that.  Hell, ECW guys used to get injured less than WWF guys.  Then you have to take into fact that when guys get to the WWF they usually have done some incredibly long stretches in the indies and the time is just finally catching up with them.

Having seen just a few matches of Low-ki, he is pretty sweet. If the WWF is really concerned about their wrestlers, why have Sparky constantly stiffing people, and what about the TLC matches? Not that I'm bitchin' bout those. And I'm sure guys can adjust to a looser style, but its the WWFs perogative I guess. I'm just glad they have an actual, real live CW division.
