(1) The Godfather beat Tazz after landing a big boot.

Godfather worked heel and brought in his cane which backfired on him allowing Tazz to put on his Tazzmission. Godfather broke free and hit a stiff kick.

 

(2) The Hurricane beat Albert with a roll up.

Albert played the big man who can't keep up with the speedy guy. Ok match.

 

(3) Hugh Morris defeated Funaki with his "no laughing matter" top rope finisher.

Pretty good match and was given plenty of time. Lots of reversals and near pin falls.

 

(4) Chavo Guerrero Jr beat Maven with a brainbuster.

The match put Maven over as Chavo got the fluke win from nowhere.

Godfather vs. Tazz

Tazz beats Godfather into a corner to start, and then tosses a running Godfather over the top. On the outside, Tazz clubs away and tosses Godfather into the ring. Inside, Godfather kicks Tazz in the chest and then boots him down. Godfather tosses Tazz onto the ropes, then chokes him on them. Scoop slam by Godfather, then a few elbow drops 1-2-shoulder up.

 

Knockdown punches by Godfather, who applies a sleeper hold. Tazz begins to fight out, but Godfather beats him back down. Another scoop slam, and Godfather goes second rope, only to miss the splash attempt. Clothesline by Tazz, then another, then a T-Bone suplex. Tazz applies the Tazzmission, but Godfather low blows out of the hold. He picks up the Pimp Cane, but Tazz kicks it out of his hands. Tazz looks to use the cane, but the ref pulls it out of his hands, allowing Godfather to hit a Big Boot and score the 1-2-3!

 

The Hurricane vs. Albert

Helms starts out with a surprising amount of punches, then a superhero kick, but he runs into Albert, who picks him up and rams him into the turnbuckles, then powerslams him. Punches in the corner by Albert, then some tough knees and a clothesline. Helms begins firing back, but Albert boots him down. Stalled double underhook suplex by Albert, then an elbow drop 1-2-shoulder up.

 

Albert chokes Hurricane with his own HurriCape, but Helms hits a hard back elbow. Albert presses Helms up, but Hurricane flips out, causing Albert to fall. Helms hits a low dropkick to the face. Albert fires back and looks for a powerbomb, but Helms punches him and hits a DDT 1-2-powerout.

 

Helms again fires with punches. He looks for the Chokeslam, but Albert pushes him away. Helms sidesteps a running Albert, then floats over his back and trips him. Helms rolls up the fallen Albert 1-2-3!

 

Hugh Morrus vs. Funaki

Morrus tries to whip Funaki into the corner, but Funaki escapes under the ropes. They go on a little chase back into the ring, where Funaki goes for a crossbody, but just bounces off Morrus' chest. Funaki asks for a Test of Strength, but then low blows Morrus. Enziguri by Funaki 1-2-powerout.

 

Funaki ducks a clothesline and dropkicks Morrus in the knee. He stomps away on the injured leg, then applies a leglock. Morrus reaches back, trying to pry Funaki off of him. Funaki smashes the leg against the ropes. Shoulder block by Funaki, who goes up top and hits a flying crossbody 1-2-shoulder up.

 

Stomps in the corner by Funaki, then some more wrenching of the leg around the ropes. Funaki celebrates, allowing Morrus to take him into the corner and chop away on his chest. Funaki tries to whip Morrus, but Hugh falls on the weight of his leg. Funaki stomps on the injured knee, but Morrus comes back with a military press slam. Clothesline by Morrus, then another. Funaki floats over Hugh's back and hits a dropkick, then the low dropkick to the face. Again Funaki celebrates, allowing Morrus to flapjack him. Hugh goes up top and hits the No Laughing Matter 1-2-3!

 

Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs. Maven

Chavo hits a snapmare to start, then a kick to the back. Chops by Chavo, but Maven comes back with a hiptoss and two armdrags, followed with that dropkick. Chavo pulls Maven outside, but Maven punches him and tosses him back in the ring. Inside, Chavo drop toeholds Maven into the ropes, then leaps over the ropes, smashing Maven into the apron. He boots Maven's head into the apron, then scores a low dropkick 1-2-shoulder up.

 

Chavo with a boot choke, then a backsuplex 1-2-shoulder up. Chavo applies a sleeper. Maven fights out and rolls Chavo up for a two count. Uppercuts by Chavo, but Maven reverses and punches away. Dropkick by Maven, then a spinning heel kick and a flapjack 1-2-shoulder up.

 

Chavo tires for a brainbuster, but Maven blocks and goes for a rolling clutch pin 1-2-kickout. Chavo again goes for the brainbuster, and hits it this time 1-2-3!

YES! Chavo and Hurricane win! Albert and Maven lose! But Tazz jobs to Godawfulfather... but I guess you can't get everything perfect. Funaki needs partners... (TAKA, Funaki, Tajiri, & Kaz Hayashi = KAIENTAI 2K2)

Wow...Hurricane beat Albert?  That is shocking.  Is this the end of the Albert push already?  I just hope this signals the beginning of a Hurricane push since he seems to be doing something now.  I can always dream.

 

Tazz jobs in the opening match on Metal?  It is hard to believe he used to be considered an unbeatable badass.

It was just a roll-up.  Maybe they're building to something between them because they thought the Rikishi feud wasn't working out ... I dunno.
