Guest SteveyP93 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 SSeries 02 is likely the deathblow for him ever getting a major spot Yeah, politically it was. Creatively, it was his feud with HHH where he got buried. Too bad because Austin and Taker both went out of their way to make him look really good. Whereas the first time that HHH ever worked with RVD (Rumble '02), the first thing that he did was kill him dead for like 10 minutes with the Pedigree. Guest Loss Report post Posted September 7, 2004 But who has the WWF never given a chance to? RVD DID get a few shots and fumbled them horribly (him injuring HHH at SSeries 02 is likely the deathblow for him ever getting a major spot). Jericho is always upper-card. Benoit will likely always be upper card. WWE does give guys chances. But they're damned if they do, damned if they don't. They push a guy some don't like, and it's the dumbest thing ever. They push a guy they like and eventually job him (as they have to) and they're burying the guy. -=Mike Benoit, Jericho and RVD aren't as pushed as HHH and the Undertaker. They deserve to be. Business would be better if they were. RVD got a shot, the live crowds responded, and he was shoved down the card. Jericho got over and did a whole bunch of jobs to HHH. Now he's an upper midcarder. Benoit is doing a tag team undercard match on this Sunday's PPV.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 No one should be bitching about Benoit. He made one of the greatest heels of all time, tap out clean, at the biggest WWE even possible of all-time, in the main event. If that's not giving someone a chance, then what is? Jericho's title run was no doubt horrible, because they made him look like a fool. And the Wrestlemania fued was over a fucking dog. But no need to be bitching about Benoit/

Making him the #1 guy that they give the responsibility of carrying the company. Giving him more TV time than anyone else. Talking more about him than anyone else. Building the shows around him. Keeping him in main events after he drops the title.

I actually perfer him as a bad ass heel. He problay draw as a bad ass heel world champion. And give him a manger like Paul Heyman. He could easily be a great world champion. But as a face? No not anymore. The only time it would of worked was in WCW.
Guest Loss Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Benoit has never been put in a position to draw. Only HHH, and occasionally HBK, have been put in a position to draw money on RAW. So, it's unfair to call Benoit someone who can't draw flies. It's worth noting that he gets a tremendous reaction every week when people used to complain about him not being over enough. strummer 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 While watching Raw tonight, it entered my mind that Benoit seems more over after he lost the belt than when he had the title. He got a huge pop tonight, and the crowd was with him all the way. The Raw after SS he was also way over.
