Guest converge241 Report post Posted May 1, 2002 the 16 participants: raw: Hall,Xpac,Bradshaw,RVD,Brock,Eddie g.,Booker,Bubba Ray dudley SD: Tajiri,Benoit,Jericho,Angle,Edge,Henry,Test, Storm the semis and final at the PPV: RVD vs. Brock (Brock gets DQ'ed) Jericho vs Benoit (with either winning) Jericho or Benoit over RVD. Jericho would be great just to see him with the robe and all: "im the king daddio! you are all has-beens", but it would give him an extra push cause hes probably not getting the belt back. Benoit to seriously re-establish him in the main event scene. I think either would have a good match with Van Dam. I love BROCK~! but I think that it would be too much too quick..he still needs to have a feud with an established mid-carder before the heavy push (a la Goldberg's many bouts with Saturn). They might try it though.
Guest Report post Posted May 1, 2002 Actually, I was going to say RVD, but now that I think about it - a KOTR win for Benoit would be the perfect vehicle for him to make his "comeback" with.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted May 1, 2002 rhyno if he is in good enough to return by then. if not then I wouldn't exclude any of these guys: rvd eddie guerrero kidman kanyon lesnar spike
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted May 1, 2002 If Brock doesn't win, he'll lose by DQ. RVD, Eddy, Benoit, Booker... any of them could win. But it's the WWF so who knows... fucking Mabel won the KOTR before when Shawn Michaels was in the tournament. So I guess "anything can happen in the WWF", right Vince? Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted May 1, 2002 I see it as a possibility for the following to win: Booker T: As a heel this would be a joke. As a face, you just never know. RVD: If HHH wins the WWF title that night he'll be too busy to care what RVD does. Benoit: Too soon I think. One match that night would be more than enough as he'll be rusty. Brock: Too soon. He'll do something to get disqualified if he's in the tournament. Eddie: Not a bad choice, but would they do it? Probably not. Bradshaw: If they want to keep him in the main events, but good God, please no. Jericho/Angle: This is above them in my opinion. Lance Storm: I'd love to see it but as far as how they've handled him, this would be out of no where.
Guest Report post Posted May 6, 2002 To be honest, this day in age, the King of the Ring winner is usually pretty hard to predict. The talent pool is deeper than it ever was, and can go to anyone on the roster. Although there are the obvious front runners: Brock Lesnar The guy is getting a big monster heel push, but I doubt Lesnar will get the KOTR title so quickly. Maybe next year. Rob Van Dam He gets pushed, he gets depushed. He gets pushed again, he gets depushed again. Perhaps winning the KOTR tournament this year will be the final stepping stone for RVD to capture Main Event status. Booker T Booker is over. The fans like 'em. A good face push into the tournament and Booker could easily walk away with the crown. He is deserving and would be an acceptable KOTR. Chris Beniot With Beniot returning in what seems to be a month or so, a KOTR win could solidify him as a Main Event threat and give him the right momentum when he returns. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if Beniot will be quite ready for all these tasks as soon as he comes back. But who knows, he IS Chris Beniot. These guys have what it takes, but it might not be enough just yet: Test This guy seems to be flirting with an upper midcard position. A KOTR win could permantly move him up on the scale and give him the credit to do so. Eddy Guerrero Eddy is obviously a great wrestler. He is the current Intercontinental Champion. Since his return, he has been handled well and put in a high profile program with Rob Van Dam. Could the next step in making Eddy a legitimate superstar be a KOTR Title? Lance Storm What has Lance Storm done since joining the WWF? Really. Ok, he won a IC Title last summer, but that was back when everyone had a title and it was being thrown around like a hot potato. Maybe something will come along soon enough to elevate Storm past his current Heat status. Maybe that something will be a KOTR win? X-Pac Yeah, thats right. X-Pac. Don't be surprised to see this jackass hurdle over more talent and jump his way to another non-deserving role with a KOTR win. For some reason, X-Pac is loved by Vince and the WWF and I wouldn't count him out of the running for the KOTR right away. I have to give Waltman credit though, he has really stepped up and improved his game lately. But personally I don't think he is the right man for the spot. My special "dark horse" selections: D'Lo Brown You betta rec'nize! D'Lo is back on the full time roster and deserves a role. A King of the Ring push would be perfect for this former IC/European Champion. D'Lo has improved a great deal since his last WWF run, but unfortunately might not make the cut. Christian What better way to finally make Christian the singles star he deserves to be than a KOTR win? Look at how cocky and entertaining Christian was with Edge's KOTR trophy last year. Picture how much better he would be if he won it himself. A good pick, but not very likely. Billy Kidman They could approach the KOTR tournament a different way and give it to a 'cruiserweight' star. What better way to give the 'new' division some exposure and excitement. Billy is a rising star, but might not be KOTR material just yet. Maven They already psuhed this kid to heights I never thought he'd reach. Why not throw the KOTR title at him too. Wouldn't be overly surprising, although not extremely likely either. There are too many names and too many possibilites this year, but I'm gonna go on the record and pick Rob Van Dam for the King of the Ring 2002.
Guest Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Maybe to give Hogan one last good match, they will put him in the KOTR after he loses his title, where he wins it back, then he is squashed!
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Man, I would shit my pants if they gave Hogan the KOTR title.
Guest Renegade Report post Posted May 6, 2002 I really hope Benoit isnt in the KOTR tourney, the tourney is usaully for people who are climbing up the card, IMO if Benoit won it, he would move down the card, he should be main eventing
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Christian and he resumes a hot feud with Edge, and it is much better than their other crap. Realistically Lesnar Dreaming DDP
