Guest Eric the Eagle Report post Posted May 2, 2002 Of course, I'm not American, but... We think one of my great-great grandmother on my father's side was German (mostly because of the name "Brandt" - a German name - which was brought into the family at that time). Otherwise my father's family is Norwegian, apart from a few Swedes, and my mother's family has lived on the west coast of Norway since the time of the Vikings... Guest Report post Posted May 2, 2002 My father is Mexican American, but he has a Scottish name. His father's father changed his name out of fear that his children will be discriminated against when they look for jobs. He changed it to "Logan" to make it sound more "American;" his name was "Lujan."
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted May 3, 2002 Well, my family tree is fucked up. I'm African-American, but my mom's side has Native American, German, English, and Spanish blood and I'm not sure about my dad's side, but I think there's a little English and maybe some NA blood, too. Oh yeah, I'm pretty light-skinned for a brotha, but I'm tan as hell due to some LONG hours outside in the sun.

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 4, 2002 I've got a little bit of... Russian, Irish, Scottish, Cherokee (Native American tribe), Black Foot (another Native American tribe), Ukrainian, Panama-ian (?), German (?), and the rest I have no idea... I'm probably the most Russian though, so that's usually what I say I am, even though I'm truly "an American" in the sense that my parents were born in America and my grandparents were born in America (with the exception of my maternal grandmother who was born in Panama). I've still got a bit of "the old country" in me, but not even enough to be counted as a "true" Russian. I hate having no defined culture... To simplify things, for those who are misguided and believe Judaism is a race rather than a religion, you could call me that. I hate it since it's not true, but you could do it.
