Give me a real reason to watch smackdown

Guest TheDames7

OK...so Vince ended up getting a better roster than Flair.  Seems like Raw has been better than SD! lately, IMO.  Anyway....whats the point of even being on Smackdown?  Lets say that you're Hardcore Holly and you want to be step up and be a bigger name (storyline wise).  What title could he contend for?  Most of the roster sure as hell aren't cruisers, and without the other secondary titles, the SD stars have nothing to fight over.

Euro, IC & Hardcore, as meaningless as they are, is too much to have on Raw.  I can understand World being defended on both shows...but damn, what if you're not a cruiser OR a main event guy on SD...what do you look forward to?

I say take the Euro title and put it on Smackdown.  Why Euro? Simple.

IC is supposed to be seen on a higher level than the other 2 secondary titles, so its status is pretty much always going to be the number 2 title..(SHOULD mean 2nd best wrestler in the company but thats another story)

Euro, if on Smackdown, could be elevated just because of the talent pool that is on the program.  Hell, if the Cruiser division ever really gets off the ground (and no, I dont consider Tajiri and Kidman being the only cruisers on SD as having a real division), then they could challenge for the Euro title too, like the TV title in WCW.  Rey won the title, Jericho's first step after winning the cruiser title was going after TV..why can't the Euro title be elevated?

Well, I am an avid supporter of the fact that they poorly distributed the titles. I think they could possibly make all titles for both shows. The tag division needs some serious remodeling. They need to make the hardcore title more serious, otherwise I'd rather just see it go. Putting the Euro title on SD(though I really like the plan) would leave the IC as Raw's only exclusive title. I say, start getting more tag teams over, and put the tag belts on Raw. Raw would then have the IC and tag team. This would leave SD with just the Euro and CW and make it appear to be inferior with the much younger titles. They could start out, when introducing the Euro title on SD, by putting it on someone big(maybe in the upper midcard) to get it over and then have it slowly drift to cover the entire midcard. It's really a tough thing to think out.

I have a better idea. Have the heavyweight, women's, and tag belts all be for both shows. Then have IC and hardcore as Raw's exclusive and Euro and CW as SD's exclusive. I think that works better.

The split isn't going to last for very long, IMO.  I expect a great number to be either sent down to OVW/HWA or be fired.

Note: Vince will probably send them to OVW/HWA, to keep rising promotions from getting the stars.

I think this is a great idea.  With the wealth of talent on Smackdown! I'd love to see the Euro title actually (*gasp*) mean something.

As for the split not lasting long, I agree for this too.  Smackdown has its star power going for it, but as for RAW... anytime the "secondary show" (Heat) is miles better than the main show is probably a bad thing.

Watch Smackdown for Jericho, Benoit, Angle, and the cruisers, with a touch of the superstars to make it magic for the mainstream fans.  Now that I think about it, RAW really did get screwed... bad... and yet, at the same time I can't think of any really driving reasons to watch Smackdown either... hmmmm.... that leaves Heat as THE show to watch then.

First off...I STILL say they need to SPLIT THE TITLES!!!!!!!!!! WWF belt for SD and Big Gold for SD!

I-C and Hardcore for Raw, Euro and CW for SD...good, except I can't see the Euro title as being the #2 belt. I think they really need to change the name...call it the TV title or even the International Title like they used to have down in WCW. A new name for that belt would add a little bit of freshness and bring some added interest to Smackdown if you ask me.

And as for Raw always being better than SD...I dunno. I know everybody's been saying this, but I find Smackdown a little more entertaining than Raw most weeks. If they could get more titles and some consistent storylines for a change, Smackdown would be alright.

A good reason to watch Smackdown! is to see Kurt Angle get jobbed to HHH and Edge on a regular basis.

I'm not scared of any Angle fan. In fact, perhaps I will be able to show him the light and he will finally get off the radiply shrinking Angle bandwagon.

How many people around the net who had their dicks in Kurt Angle's mouth for most of 2000 are now tired of him? I've seen quite a few. It's as if once he became a main eventer he was suddenly "old news" and so people moved on to new midcarders.

I disagree. Kurt Angle has a huge following and deservedly so. He's an excellent wrestler, he always has an entertaining promo, and unlike many main eventers he's willing to help get mid carders over.

Let's get this BACK ON TARGET, for the love of gawd.

Anyways, I like the idea presented earlier about sending IC & HC with Raw and Euro and CW to Smackdown, but I'd like to take it further and say dissolve the Euro belt into a U.S. Title (or even maybe incorporate the old WCW belt), since the Euro title's history is essentially owned by luminaries such as D-Lo Brown and Shane McMahon.

To me, the Euro belt is about equal with the HC belt.  Which means it's worth shit.

Dissolve it.

I'd have the IC on Raw, the Euro on Smackdown and make them the no 1 aim of guys on those rosters. They should be used to indicate who is in the running for a world title shot, not put on the likes of Spike for want of a better idea.

Incidentally, that Angle Sucks guy is probably the same person who was posting under "Benoit is a vanilla midget". Is someone not getting enough attention at home?

You know, it wouldn't shock me if "Angle Sucks" = "Anglesault"

I wholeheartedly agree with your statement.  It makes sense and I think it would work.

D'Lo was a great Euro champion, so was X-Punk(surprisingly). BUT, with how the bookers have fucked up the belt since before WM 15, it's probably a good idea to get rid of it for good.

D'lo wasn't a great Europeon champ.  They just kept sticking the title on him for reasons unknown to me. Al Snow was a great Europeon champion.  His gimmick where he dressed like someone from a different Euro country every show was great.  His music was the best because it would say "what does everybody want" in another language and then "head" in all the other languages.  very funny stuff.

Bleh, I thought Al's run sucked. At least D'Lo was over during his first reign.

Yeah, D'Lo and X-Pac were good definitely good champs. Hell, I'll even go out on a limb and say that Shane McMahon did a lot to elevate the belt during his reign. The problem came when they retired the damn thing. Next to the World, the Euro was arguablty the most over title coming out of WMXV and it was not only stupid to retire it, but to give it to Midion the way they did. The title has basically sucked since then, and with the exception of Angle's Euro-Continental run in 2000, the belt hasn't recovered. Like I said before, they either need to change the name or drop the thing.
