Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 Most feel that the NWA will need to draw around 50,000 PPV buys weekly to stay in business. The WWA Eruption PPV drew around 20,000 buys. WWF WrestleMania X-8 drew around 1.3 million buys. Credit: PWTorch.com Well, do you think they can do it? Considering the fact that they've had no mainstream advertising and the basic concept of the whole thing, I'd give a hearty no. But hey, I'm pulling for them. Some serious competition for the WWF would be great. Edit: My mistake, this is supposed to be in General.
Guest Tony149 Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 It's going to be hard. They'll need to cater to the net fans to get the word out and to get people to watch, IMO. I would like to see it work, but I don't know.
Guest RetroRob215 Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 I hope they can survive for at least a few months. It's going to be very hard. Hopefully if their PPV's are successful, they will be offered a syndication deal, that way they could build a fan base. The only way I think they will be to gain popularity is if they don't bring in all of the ex-WCW workers, and use well known indy wrestlers instead.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Doomed to failure. No one would have bought Nitro on PPV at its end and essentially Jarrett has only WCW guys the WWF didn't want.
Guest converge241 Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Im being overly optomistic towards it. Let's face it we need a number 2 promotion. In all honesty i think they can hit maybe 30,000 buys with the season package buys included. I dont have faith that they can hit that mark to be profitable, but costs may be offset by the WWA money and if they can get sponsors. Maybe some partnership with something in Japan as well?
Guest Human Fly Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 That sound you just heard was the toilet flushing, and it's taking Jarrett's promotion down with it.
Guest dreamer420 Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 I can't imagine 50000 people buying a two hour wrestling show every week, not run by the WWF. I would love to see the promotion make it and I am a huge Jarrett mark but lets be realistic here.
Guest swan Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 They'll need some deep pockets and no expectations to turn a profit any time soon. I think they would have to slowly move over to cable TV and/or syndication with maybe 2 ppv's a month tops.

Considering the Jarretts & Turner are Southerns. That's the only way their NWA will work, if they end up using their PPV's as a pilot show to shop around.
