What if vince went to jail in 1994?

Recommended Posts

Guest alfdogg

After reading one of Tony's posts in the best of 1994 thread, I thought of this topic.  The max sentence would have been eight years, and the trial was in June 1994, which means he would still be in jail today if he didn't get his sentence cut in half.  Either way, though, Bret would have never got screwed and Owen would probably still be alive.  That's all I feel like saying about it right now, although I could probably go all day on this subject.

What do you think?

a) if he stayed the whole eight years (still in jail)

b) if he got out in four (June 1998, I think)

Comments, please.

I think the feds wanted to put Vince away for at least 10 years. If that was the case Vince would of gotten out in 2004. So he would probably be in prison right now.

1. Oddly Enough Jerry Jarrett was the man who would of taken over the WWF had Vince gone away. Now he's starting his own promotion again. WWF "Attitude" is never born as Jerry is an old school guy. The WWF cuts back on cartoon-like characters and goes into a style where workrate is important. Bret, Owen, HBK would get bigger pushes due to their strong workrate. Vince Russo doesn't become head writer. The Kilq (Or however you want to spell it) most likely doesn't run over the company. The WWF stays on solid ground, but WCW still becomes #1 due to the nWo. Steve Austin is still fired from WCW in 1995. Spends time in ECW before signing with the WWF in early 1996. Doesn't become "The Ringmaster", but just comes in as Steve Austin. The "Stone Cold" name would start be used within 4 months.

2. Jerry Jarrett is probably still running the company. Vince thanks him, then tells him he's fired. McMahon starts to re-introduce cartoon-like characters. Promotion starts to tank after a while. Russo starts to gain McMahon's trust and becomes the head writer. The early stages of WWF "Attitude" start in the summer of 1998. Austin vs. The Hart Foundation still carries the company thru 1998. By the summer of 1999 the WWF is running neck and neck with WCW. DX is still born. Bret Hart still doesn't like the direction of the company and drops the title clean to HBK at Summerslam (Not held in Canada). No screw job. Leaves the WWF in Sep. The early stages of McMahon vs. Austin starts in the fall. HBK vs. Austin is the main event of WM 2000. Austin wins. HBK doesn't get hurt. HBK & HHH team with McMahon to form Coporate DX. They feud with Austin. The WWF pulls away in the ratings and in 2002 were in the second year of the biggest wrestling boom ever. The XFL is never born, but WWFE becomes a big player in Hollywood after they produce a major movie which wins all sorts of awards.

Ok, maybe the last part is a little out there.

Interesting.  Only thing is I don't see how it would have affected HBK's eventual injury.

HBK never has a casket match against The Undertaker. Shawn took a back-drop over the top rope but his back ended up hitting the edge of the casket. That would end up putting the seal on HBK's career, as I belive he never wrestled again until WM XIV.

I think Shane and Steph might have been put in there ahead of time after Jarrett... and they would have been motivated to reinvent the company in a better way than Vince McMahon or Vince Russo would have, being youngr they would have been more in touch with the youth.

Bret Hart would still be wrestling and employed with the WWF.

Shawn Michaels would have been fired long before he turned into the piece of shit he retired as.  No one but Vince would have put up with his bullshit.

What about Pat Patterson?  Didn't he fill in for Vince at the Rumble of 94?

HBK never has a casket match against The Undertaker

the whole Owen aborted push/third Taker - HBK as a result is like a Nexus Point for what ifs? and all the divergent realities that could have occured.

Owen's death

Shawn's injury

Bret getting knocked out of main events after being super-hot.

a lot of things splintered off of that time period

I'm thinking of the Rumble where the Undertaker "rose" from the casket.

Yep. Shane would have been 24 and Steph would have been 18 though I'd doubt they run the WWF full time cuz Shane would either concetrate on getting his dad out of jail and Steph would have gone to college.

I think Owen would still be alive as he was hestistiant of doing the stunt in the first point.

There would probalby be no Stone Cold but Steve Austib would still be there and Rock also since it was Pat Patterson who got Rock-y to the WWF in the first place.

The WCW would still be dead, but the WWF would also suck too.

What would have REALLY happened? WWF would become a National Laughingstock and lost business as Arenas would have refused to carry WWF shows. WCW would still be a hick based promotion that eventfully goes bankrupt because Turner has no Motivation to run the company without McMahon. Wrestling goes back to the region-based style.

The Hart family rebuilds Stampede Wrestling and the best Talent in the world flock to Calgary. Ric Flair buys out the NWA name and tours the Carolina/Florida region and ECW would be the biggest challenger. Business in Japans explodes in full bloom as many "Big Men" draws such as Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, Glen Jacobs and Scott Hall are big draws. Mick Foley and Terry funk wrestle on and off again in IWA/Death shows. Foley suffers Permanent brain damage from a Neseta bump.

Bret Hart and Bruce Hart have a falling out in deciding who obtains Stu Hart's stock of the company and Bret Alienates the rest of the Family. Owen Hart takes over after Bruce suffers depression and commits Suicide. Brian Pillman (The star of Stampede) overdoses on Pills and Stampede has trouble finding a new star until Bret returns to help little brother Owen Hart.

In Japan, Hulk Hogan and Vader main event Tokyo Dome shows and are huge stars.

The NWA/ECW rivalry eventfully comes to a head in 1997 when each organization obtains National Timeslots. NWA returns to TBS Saturday nights and ECW lands a deal with USA, in efforts to promote a "Edgy" network (followed by Silk Stalkings).  ECW becomes the instant #1 promotion with it's hard-core wrestling but Ric Flair shocks the Wrestling world by Teaming up with Owen Hart's Stampede Wrestling and They control the Canadian market as well. NWA becomes the #1 Cable show on TV thanks to Ted Turner's idea to put NWA Turbo on his TNT network on Monday nights. Paul Heyman gets his way and creates "ECW:Hardcore Heat" for a head on war with Ric Flair's NWA. Hulk Hogan shocks the world by returning to America and signs with Paul Heyman.

Meanwhile, Vince McMahon has been released in 1998 for good behavior and instantly Tries to rebuild WWF. The Government won't allow him. He eventfully becomes a Marketer for a small sports network in the Northeast.

ECW was on top of the game until Owen Hart and Paul Heyman had a falling out and ECW lost it's stampede backing.

Wrestling Hall of Famer, Terry Funk returns to rekindle his classic feud with Ric Flair, whom since been inactive.

Ric Flair, whom is losing money, sells stock to Ted Turner and Turner becomes 48% owner. Flair remains Majority owner.

Dusty Rhodes, whom was a road agent for ECW left the company and moved on to a new Japan federation called "JSW" (Japan Superstar Wrestling) and become the head writer along with a young Vince Russo. Dusty Rhodes quickly writes himself back into the main events against Japan's biggest star, Sting.

Owen Hart and Bret Hart are losing money until they contact Vince McMahon to help run the company. Vince agrees and becomes the head writer.

Jim Ross, announcer/President of NWA dies of Heart sickness, Terry Funk takes over announcing duties and Ricky Steamboat becomes President.

Paul Heyman shocks the world when he announces the first ever Wrestleplaooza.

Where all 4 Major wrestling organizations (ECW, STAMPEDE, NWA and JSW) have a Three night PPV extravaganza. However, their are no interpromotional matches.

Ted Turner, owner of TNT and partial owner of NWA...is charged with Money laundering and is placed in Prison for 10 years. Flair's NWA is hit hard finically and Ric Flair is desperate to find a partner. He lost his Network and his money source. ECW runs away with The wrestling dominance and NWA is dependent on House Shows and Bimonthly ppv's.

Bret Hart and Vince McMahon have serious disagreements that lead to a break up and once again Stampede is broke. ECW buys out Stampede and stockpiles it's company by renaming it ECWE and putting it out public. NWA eventfully falls bankrupt and folds. JSW becomes a playground for aged veterans while ECWE holds a monopoly of North American wrestling. Paul Heyman gets a high head and decides to create an Alternative Hockey league "XHL." The league is a miserable failure. ECWE loses tons of revenue due to lack of competition. Randy Savage makes a surprise return to ECW and runs a nostalgia tour to disappointing numbers.

ECWE holds steady but lack of competition causes decrease in Mainstream publicity.

And in May 2002 the ECW(E) change their name due to constant legal battles against the European Cat World, a fund for wild cats (no, not wildcats, but cats that are wild!~)
