Guest converge241 Report post Posted May 2, 2002 Micahel Rappaport is great in Higher learning, Bamboozled, and True Romance. "all i got is fuckin' floyd!" what this has to do with deep blue sea? nothing, but thats par for the course with the starter.. Deep Blue Sea? Name begins with LL? hmmmmmmmmm Is your hat like a shark fin?
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 2, 2002 Actually, I just saw this the other night for the first time, and wasn't terribly impressed. The shark computer effects looked incredibly fake, and they seemed to be on a mission from God to break as many concrete laws of physics as humanly possible. Guest Report post Posted May 2, 2002 those were real sharks. idoit!
Guest Tomato Can Report post Posted May 2, 2002 That movie features the dumbest line of dialogue I've ever heard. "We used gene therapy to increase their brain size. As a side effect the sharks got smarter." Well no shit lady! Good job with that MAJOR discovery that brain size correlates with intelligence!
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted May 2, 2002 those were real sharks. idoit! Um, no they weren't. The sharks in the very beginning were I think, but real sharks don't blink. And it shows all the animitronic stuff in the DVD extras you idiot!
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 3, 2002 Please... Deep Blue Sea is NOTHING compared to the awesome South African low-budget shark movie that is Shark Attack 2. Proving that 2002 is the year of sequels, Shark Attack 3: Megalodon is listed on IMDb as coming out later this year. If there's a boxset, you know I'm there. Guest Report post Posted May 3, 2002 I read a book about prehistoric sharks called Meg. Supposedly it was made into a movie but never released, the Imdb page is here. The date for it is 2003, 6 months ago it was 2000. It sounds as if it's stuck in production hell. Oh, and I thought Deep Blue Sea was a decent little popcorn flick. At least the girl got half naked, and Samuel L. Jackson's death was great.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 3, 2002 Meg? I read that book, and its sequel Trench as well, and they both sucked the meat missle with much egregiousity. Kinda weird how every time a female character got eaten by the shark, the author specifically stated that the teeth penetrated her chest in some way. Paging Dr. Freud... Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted May 4, 2002 Deep Blue Sea wasn't bad for what it was. It happened to be one of the few movies I saw in the theaters and I eventually got it on DVD. Jackson's death was one of the few times I heard an audience scream all out at once. Now THAT has to be good for something, does it not?
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 4, 2002 I saw it a few years ago, I thought it was good, not the movie of the year though.
Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted May 7, 2002 The bit where Jackson dies is friggin hillarious
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted May 7, 2002 Funny that this movie has been brought up, since it's currently sitting in my local WalMart on VHS for $5. Is it worth getting? I pay good money for movies like Ninja Champion and Offerings...but Deep Blue Sea, I dunno...
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Zack Malibu, I cordially invite your ass to tape it from TNT, TBS, FX or whatever the hell channel it's been coming on.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 8, 2002 I actually just saw (OK, heard, since my upstairs TV is still broken) a commercial for its television premiere this weekend on one of those stations. It'll be edited for network TV, but is there a lot of stuff that would have to be edited out that would make it no more fun to watch?
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Just a few gory shark-munching spots, and most of them are pretty brief. It won't be a swiss-cheesed "Pulp Fiction on TV" hack job.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 8, 2002 There was a butchered Pulp Fiction shown on TV? ::shudders::
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted May 9, 2002 The edited versions seem somewhat hollow. Coming to America was a great movie, but the tv version doesn't do it justice.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted May 9, 2002 those were real sharks. idoit! You're growing on me, you rally are. Comedic genius. Can anyone explain Jackson's death, I never caught the first half.

Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 10, 2002 There was a butchered Pulp Fiction shown on TV? ::shudders:: Yep, and in some ways it's funnier than the real version. As for Jackson's demise in DBS, I'd say it's almost worth watching the movie just to see it. It's right up there with Meet Joe Black and Assault On Precinct 13 as one of the most hilariously over-the-top "what the FUCK?!" cinematic deaths of all time. Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted May 10, 2002 Damnit I don't want to watch the movie again, can anyone just describe the scene?
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 10, 2002 SPOILER SPOILER BIG FUCKING SPOILER YOU'VE BEEN WARNED . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ...it comes when Jackson is giving a big, idealistic, motivational speech to the survivors when they're in the submarine bay. He's standing next to the pool that the sub goes in, and he's giving this thunderous "we must work together and survive this thing!" rhetoric. His last line is, "And the FIRST thing we need to do is seal off this pond!" IMMEDIETLY a shark jumps out of it and grabs him, slams him onto the deck a couple of times, and then swims off while still chewing him. It's pretty damn funny. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . spoiler over
