Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 YOUNG DAMERARU SEZ: Well it's a good thing they didn't put Hulk Hogan on that list. He doesn't deserve to be on that list at all in any way shape or form. DR: If he had used a Full Nelson against the Rock like he did in his last watchable match (Sting on Nitro last decade) he would have been so on the list. Plus FOUR vertical suplexes?!?! Hogan was sooo close. (not really:)) DEAN.
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 YOUNG GOREWASROBBED SEZ: And HHH is lower than Horace freakin Hogan. My goodness. Not that HHH has been spectacular or anything, but come on, Horace ... Horace ... freaking Horace? wow. DR: Horace Hogan in Puerto Rico is MAGIC. He was LIVE VIA TELEFONICA and everything. We wanted to give HHH the love but he is so Lugerlike this six months. DEAN RASMUSSEN.
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 YOUNG GOODEAR SEZ: 1) Hi I'm Eddie Guerrero and although I'm a fantastic worker, its too soon into my latest comeback to outright declare me the second best worker in the world. DR: Naw, see his indie stuff. Eddy vs Low-Ki, Eddy vs CM Punk and Eddy vs Rey Jr vs CM Punk smokes everything but Kojima vs Tenryu and Shocker vs Anyone. Plus he carried Nova to the match of his life. 2) Hi I'm Steve Corino and I'm horribly overrated! I'm just about the most ordinary wrestler ever who manages to bleed a whole lot. I'm surely not stunningly good enough that you can tap me as the 26th best wrestler in the world above about a billion guys that are better than I am. DR: Get his matches from Zero-One. He adapted to Japanese bastardized Strongstyle/shootstyle really quickly and then will come back home and carry the drunken Sandman to a watchable match in a warehouse in Pennsylvania. 3) Hi I'm The Undertaker and I find it funny that even though Ric Flair had two matches in the last six months, one of the them was with me and the other with Vince McMahon, the he's the 348th best worker in the world and I'm not even ranked. I'm also not as good as Tommy Dreamer, Justin Credible, or C.W. Anderson. DR: Untertaker isn't very good at all. And Flair carried Undertaker and McMahon to better matches than Austin did. 4) Hi, I'm Chris Hamrick, the suckiest member of a sucky stable in a federation that went out of business. Even I don't know how the fuck I got ranked number 109. DR: HAMRICK RULES! Get drunk and go see him at an armory and you will say, "Y'know, that guy is AT LEAST the 109th best wrestler in the world." I know I did. And then this woman signed my stomach at the gimmicks table. 5) Hi, I'm Triple H and I'm mildly upset that other workers coming off injuries seem to get the benefit of the doubt in these lists but I get ranked 416. DR: Actually, you got a point on that. DEAN RASMUSSEN.
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Is Shocker really that good? I've never seen him wrestle. DR: Yes. Yes he is. DEAN.
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 YOUNG WHAT?!?! SEZ: #401 Butch Reed is still wrestling?!?!?! Whoa! DR: Fell Hucking YEAH! We got THREE (!!!!) matches from World League Wrestling (run by Harley Race) from the time period. He's not nearly as good as he was in Midsouth- but then again, if he was, he would be top 5. DEAN.
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 And Gedo's fat ass doesn't deserve #11... DR: Yes. Yes, it does. DEAN.
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 rob van dam's only 248???? and goldust is higher than him??? WTF i never really put a lot of stock into these things anyway, but now i'll never ever believe what these dvd guys have to say. DR: Oh come on. You can trust me. I'm DEAN. go look into the archives of lance storms commentaries to see what the wrestlers themselves have to say about these rankings DR: And tell him to get a real haircut while you are over there. DEAN.
Guest Mad Dog Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Nice to see they're still punishing Lance Storm for speaking out against their little list. I mean he was always top 50 till then and then slipped to the hundreds now he's below 200. Just shows how non-legit this list is.
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Nice to see they're still punishing Lance Storm for speaking out against their little list. I mean he was always top 50 till then and then slipped to the hundreds now he's below 200. Just shows how non-legit this list is. DR: I need that list of matches that Lance Storm has had since 1998 that would catapult him out of the 200s? I got no beef with Lance Storm. That's so 1999. We want the matches, Daddy! DEAN.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 My Main Gripe is the Regal love and Kurt Angle Hate. Angle brought KANE (motherfuckin KANE) to two of the best matches of his frikken career, something that Chris Benoit couldn't do, and he can't break the top 20. The man has carried the Wwf workrate wise on his back for the past 6 months and he is ranked #39. Regal hasn't done anything impressive in his Wwf tenure, so unless he is ruling the house shows with an iron fist, I can't see breaking the top 50. AND WHERE THE HELL IS FUNAKI, CRASH AND SATURN! They ROOLED THE ROOST on Metal. 425) Sho Funaki 470) Crash Holly -The greatest tag team of 2002 (ok, they have paired up once on TV, thats enough for me) deserves to be a solid 200 places down the list. The unofficial Funaki/Saturn series rocked, and Crash has been absolutely gold with his skin the cat through the 2nd rope to enter the ring, his super fly splash, land on his feet, standing splash the guy routine, his overall goofiness deserves better recognition!
Guest Mad Dog Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Gee let's see..... He had strong matches with Hugh Morrus in the last year of WCW. Add in a match with Sting on an addition of Nitro. Throw on a match with Booker T when he was winning every WCW title in site where everyone thought Booker T was going down. He had the first WCW vs. WWF match against Chris Jericho He carried Edge to the best match of his career. He had two very strong matches with Rob Van Dam before Wrestlemania. Some very good matches against DDP at WWF house shows. And that's just off the top of my head. If I get a list of Nitro's and Thunder's and Jakked and Heat and house shows I could give you another 30-50 matches at least.
Guest Mad Dog Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Oh and Storm wrote the article in 2000 so get your facts straight.
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 CMLL Shocker uses the spinning backbreaker AAA Electro Shock wears a mask, Hannibal Lectuar style and carries a stun gun sometimes they are 2 different people but are both semi completo campions, Electro Shock is the national semi completo campion of AAA Silver King as the new Black Tiger is a surprising great wrestler, I guess it runs in the family What is completo and semicompleto? Does Electro Shocker use his stungun?

He adapted to Japanese bastardized Strongstyle/shootstyle really quickly and then will come back home and carry the drunken Sandman to a watchable match in a warehouse in Pennsylvania. What are strongstyle and shootsyle again? 106) Yoshinari OgawaIs he the judo master from NJPW? Ive never heard anyone say he is any good at all. 99) James MasonWho the fuck is this jobber? 37) HalloweenThis is the pumkin man from WCW right? I remember him sucking. 25) El DandyIs this the ugly WCW El Dandy? How old is he anyway? Hes even worse than Halloweener over there. 14) Nicho el MillonarioIs this Psychosis? How old is he? And I thought all his matches sucked bad. 10) Yuji NagataHAHAHAHAHA!!! Is this the fatty that Sunny Ono was managing? He is good???????!!!!!! 5) Jushin LygerDamn Lyger is still up there? He is over 50 right?
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Aren't CMLL and EMLL the smae thing?.....and they are corssing over with NJPW? Also are Los Talibanes a terrorism gimmick there? I'm confused about the CMLL/EMLL thing also, some of them do tours in NJPW, they did the Best of the Juniors one year, Shocker, Dr Wanger, Black Tiger do regular tours in NJPW, I think. Los Talibanes is a stupid middle eastern gimmick 96) Bestia Salvaje 158) Emilio Charles Jr. 160) Scorpio Jr wear arabic robes to the ring and do stupid skits looking for camels. Why do you call him Dr Wanger all the time? Do you hate him? I am just asking.....it gives me the LOls. Is Scorpio like Too Cold Scorpio in any way? And do they keep there same names and the fans know its them or are these totally different gimicks like Isac Yankum and Kane? Did they start this after 911? That is disturbing. They are heels I am assumed. ------jesuit OUT
Guest Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Sorry sorry last post. Is any of the lucha libra shows on on one of the US spanish channels? I got to check this Shocker dude out. He sounds like the shiznit. -------jp OUT
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Umm....dude Lyger is only like 38. And he is that good.
Guest Ignatz Belzner Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Alright, one complaint: Goldust is higher up the list than Lance Storm. I've only seen one match of his (Storm's) that could be considered outstanding, given the fact he normally has to wrestle 3-minute sprint matches, and that was the second (I think) of his little two-match miniseries against RVD before Wrestlemania. He had the greatest. HeAt match. ever. with RVD (lost respectably) and then the next night had a match that was head and shoulders above that, let alone above the crap that everyone else has been doing the last couple months. I mean, he got RVD to sell a knee injury the whole match. Lance kept going after the knee, RVD kept going for trademark spots but couldn't pull them off so he had to "change gameplans"...the crowd was even interested in the injury psychology going on in the ring. It was tremendous. So....uhm...exactly what has Goldust done that was so damned spectacular that it ourshone that? Lance on a bad day is better than Goldust with any factors in his favor short of (and perhpas even including) divine intervention. That's right, I did just say Storm was better than God. And I pray for forgiveness...not 'cause I'm wrong (c'mon Lance Storm v. Jesus'd be a great match, and I think Storm'd go over...he'd have to grab the tights and use the ropes, but, hey, CHEAT TO WIN~!) but because God looks down on that kinda thing.
Guest razazteca Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 jesuit pig cause its the luchadores name in my archtype!!!! Dr Wanger Jr and Black Tiger 3 are the best brothers in wrestling!!!!!! Scorpio Jr is a mexican not the job squad member. Galavision rules!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/mark mode] what has Santo done to deserve the rank?
Guest Brian Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 "He had two very strong matches with Rob Van Dam before Wrestlemania. Some very good matches against DDP at WWF house shows." That's it for the last six months? And how are people going to ifnd out about house shows other than word of mouth. Is that what you're basing it on? If you actually have the house show matches as proof, I'd love to see them posted on the hotline or trade for them, since they obviously must be awesome to put Storm into the top fifty. "Angle brought KANE (motherfuckin KANE) to two of the best matches of his frikken career, something that Chris Benoit couldn't do, and he can't break the top 20. The man has carried the Wwf workrate wise on his back for the past 6 months and he is ranked #39." A good TV match, but he couldn't do it at the pay per view. Angle needs strong workers to play off he's not as strong by himself. I'm surprised he was that high.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Angle brought *2* good ***1/4 matches out of kane. Though I haven't seen it, his match with Edge at backlash is considered to be a MOTYC. If bringing KANE to not just one, but TWO good matches isn't indicative of the mans talent, I don't know what is. HIGHER, TOP 20.
Guest godthedog Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 having an MOTYC when the year is 2002 is not necessarily something to be proud of. i mean, so far the best match this year has been rock v. jericho, & that wasn't even as good as their vengeance match. normally i think looking at the dvdr 500 is kind of cool, but the nerdy puro freaks are obviously at a loss with who to rank, since all their favorite people sans misawa (i.e., benoit, kobashi, kawada) are injured. and a dvdr 500 just isn't the same without kawada, is it?
Guest J*ingus Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 Well, everyone's got their own personal bitches about the list, here's mine: -Hashimoto above Lyger? -Low-Ki over Tenryu? -Masato Tanaka above Akiyuma? -Corino above Ohtani? -Halloween above Austin? -Rey Rey above Angle? -Regal above Great Sasuke? -Booker T above Kidman? -Hurricane above Donovan Morgan? -Spike Dudley above AJ Styles? -IAN FUCKING ROTTEN ABOVE KEIJI MUTOH?!? -Raven above David Young? -Goldust above everybody from 200 on down? -Edge above Jason Cross? -Barry Horowitz above Jinsei Shinzaki? -Trent Acid above RVD? -Joey Matthews above Hiroshi Hase? -X-Pac above Jimmy Rave? -Jeff Hardy above D'Lo Brown? -Nick Berk above Rick Michaels? -Steve Keirn above Tony Jones? -Johnny the Bull above Elix Skipper? -Justin Credible, Ricky Morton, and Buh Buh Ray Dudley above everyone below them? -Tommy Dreamer above Masa Chono? -Butch Reed above Jeff Jarrett? -Big Valbowski above HHH? -Chuck Palumbo above Nova? -Navajo Warrior above Sabu? -Matsunaga above Brian Christopher? Those are all the ones that immedietly came to mind. Some of them are arguable, but I think pretty much everyone agrees that Rotten and Goldust shouldn't be anywhere near that high.
Guest Mad Dog Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 I'm not saying Storm is a Top 50 calibur guy, but he's way higher than the 200s. Maybe in the 90-125 range. I was just pointing out that he was always Top 30 till he wrote that article against them. He dropped something like 110 spots in that expanse and he had some of the best matches of his career then.
Guest razazteca Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 I think this list was made to piss everyone off. David Young from NWA Wildside?
Guest TheDames7 Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 You've got to admit, the guys who run DVDVR are brilliant. They put out a list twice a year ranking wrestlers, well known, indy talent, lucha & puro....and they get "heat" for it. What does that heat translate into? More hits for the site, more recognition and some god damn discussion. The guys at DVDVR don't lose anything by ranking some people over other...but they gain exposure. Brilliant...f'n brilliant.
