Don't get out the goldberg signs yet

Recommended Posts

Guest cobainwasmurdered

Don't get ready for Goldberg to come to the wwf, because I believe you'll be disappointed.

Goldberg will want a shit load of money

Goldberg has heat with jericho

Goldberg dislikes the content of the wwf

Goldberg has made alot of anti-wwf comments

Goldberg and HHH hate each other.

Goldberg has no passion for the wrestling business.

I think that IF goldberg did buy out his time warner contract it was only to see what kind of offers he'd get.

Making yourself available to be signed is a a HUGE step away from bing signed.

I don't know. There's a reason why Goldberg took the buy-out. I belive he had 1 year left on his AOL TW deal. He wouldn't drop all that free money just to see if he could get offers. Yeah he said some unkind things about the WWF's product, but he said he didn't have anything against Vince McMahon (It's up on 1wrestling from an ESPN radio interview he did yesterday I belive). Either he has something cookin' with the WWF or he's going to be the Jarretts top face in the NWA. I think he's going to Titan.

You dont turn down money for doing nothing unless you know what kind of deal to expect after the contract is terminated.  It's just a matter of time.

Tony if he was fishing for a contract of course he wouldn't say anything bad about Vince.

If he does sign with a Fed, it'll be the Jarrett's.

for all we know he could have decided he wanted to try his hand at shoot fighting.

Vince didn't have anything bad to say about him either. It would of been easy for Vince to say "Goldberg isn't a draw no more. He peaked years ago. He has a bad attitude." If he (McMahon) sees money...he'll bring him in. He did it with the nWo, but that failed. The WCW invasion didn't work either.

If Vince bought Hennig just so he wouldnt work for WWA, Jarrett does'nt have a chance in hell in getting Goldberg.

.....Im just waiting for the Ralphus run-in during the first Goldberg-Jericho match.

Actually allow me to change gears in my argument.

Let's say Goldberg DOES sign with the wwf. what happens? Vince won't let him run through the roster because he doesn't want people to think wcw wrestlers are as good or better than wwf wrestlers. If Goldberg is placed in the main event scene right away he faces the same cunundrum of vince not wanting him to beat his home grown stars.

So IF Goldberg DID sign I could only see it working for a One Shot deal to feud with Austin. That's it. Anything more would be a waste for Goldberg and the wwf.

THAT'S the real issue here.  When will Vince swallow whatever imaginary company pride he has for the sake of making $$$$.  He couldnt do it during the Invasion, never really had a chance to do it for the NWO.  When is this dolt going to realize that it doesnt matter now cuz he owns both companys.

He won't. He's been feuding with WCW/NWA since he bought the WWF. He's conditioned himself to view all non-wwf performers as inferior.

and I'm not so sure goldberg would draw as much $$$ as some people think he would.

Invasion didnt work?  nWo didnt work?

He sold a TON of wcw and nWo shirts.  Thats his bottom line. He didnt need it to sell seats.  The angles worked FINE by him. I mean god, nWo brought this whole hogan thing.  Vince is donig just fine... the product may suck but he's making money.

That is an excellent point. The nWo may have failed, But he got Hogan to have his last matches in the WWF and Hogan can finally put his career to rest with a happy ending

The only reason I can see for taking the buyout is if he already has a deal on the table w/ the WWF.  I mean, how much could the Jarrett's conceivably give him?  You know their weekly PPV's won't work.  The WWF is the only logical explanation.

And as for working a program w/ Austin, I don't know.  When last we saw Goldberg, he retired Bret Hart.  I would think Austin would be a little hesitant about working w/ Goldberg, knowing that w/ his neck, one sloppy spot w/ Bill could put Austin out for good.

Austin worked with Scott Hall. Although Hall is a better wrestler. Goldberg seems to have a problem with his superkicks. What's the point of bringing in Goldberg if you aren't planning to do Austin vs. Goldberg?

Like CWM said, will Vince let somebody elses former top guy beat some of his talent? Vince seems to have a problem with letting anything from WCW look good.

As for the nWo...I was talking about the angle failing not t-shirts or Hogan.

The number one draw in the WWF, the ROCK(yes he is the number one draw) is off doing movies and will be missing months to make more.  Who is Vinces crossover star now.  Who is his big name.  Yeah, he has Austin but then there is HHH lightyears below him.  Goldberg is a ready made star and Vince knows it.  He might not let him run through everyone, but he will be shoved in the spotlight and he will draw some money and he can be his second teir star.  Sure HHH won't like it, but if Goldberg is bringing in the ratings and putting butts in the seats, Vince will tell HHH to just deal.

Look we all know it, Jarrett and the NWA can not aford Goldberg's pricetag.  He's going to the WWF and is going to continue the crappy angles and crippling of stars.  He knocked Bret so loco that Bret tried to contact Owen thru a freakin' medium on national TV!

They have to sign Goldberg if nothing else to job him out to all the guys that hate him:  HHH, Jericho, and the obvious feud with Austin.

For my money, the coolest possible feud is Goldberg vs. Lesnar.  That would rule.

are you kidding me? people will be fighting each other for the right to have him job over and over again.. HHH, Austin, Nash, Hogan, etc.

Thats whats especially bad IF they sign him not only does he have a ton of negatives, but Vince will push him wrong as well...it just seems like a no-win situation.

The one thing that really pisses me off is that whenever any bit of news about He Who Shall Go Nameless From Now On gets mentioned, everybody starts talking about him, debating about the possibilities of this or that, etc.etc.etc. Can't we just let him disappear into iniquity like he should? Why give the idiot free press or the slightest notion that people actually care about his sorry ass?

And there I go giving him more free press. Damn...

Goldberg might be coming in? Damn, I go off the net for a week and come back with this surprise. Goldberg vs. Austin WrestleMania 19 people. Austin the world champ who SHOULD beat Hogan at KOR or Summerslam.

I'd rather see Hogan have a year long title reign, See Benoit retire, See Jericho get crippled, see Storm get fired and see Angle become a Metal/Jakked "Star" before seeing Goldberg in the WWF.

If that doesn't explain my hate for him, then I don't know what will!

I personally hope he signs with the Jarrett promotion. Don't forget he also has heat with HHH (and austin allegedly but I can't remember when or where I read it), and his only real backer is Hogan. The only real match they have to give is Goldberg/Austin, and I doubt Austin would go for that.

ok, goldberg is not going to the wwf. if he does, i'd be shocked, shocked i say. he's shit all over them in public. half the roster (ok, two guys) don't like him and he's not in any rush to work a wrestling schedule. he's a free agent because time-warner wanted to clear him from their books. that's the only reason.

According to the report I read, he got almost all of the value of his contract as AOL Time Warner just wanted to get him off the books.

They'd be stupid to blow that money feud so fast.  Bring him in, have him beat the jobbers to the stars ala Booker T, and then later down the line build the money match at WM with Austin.

I'll GUARANTEE he wouldn't make as much as some people think he would.

The man's ability to put butts in the seat is virtually non-existent and has been for years.

Then again, Vince still thinks that in spite of low attendance, lower ratings, and Backlash's buyrate reportedly being low (and the event NOT being a sell-out), Hogan is a draw.

Any small promotion who thinks signing Goldberg is going to be a good business move is one that either he owes a favor or wants to be out of business soon. If the WWF couldn't offer Goldberg anything to get him off the couch, what small promotion can? I think Goldberg would like to be in the WWF after seeing what the Rock was capable of with the Scorpion King.
