Guest shlidgn90 Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 most of you just talk about flair/steamboat ppv matches or the 2 of 3 fall ragin cajun match. i recently watched the match that restarted the whole fued, this was the tag match where eddie gilbert had a surprise for flair and wyndham. that surprise was none other than the dragon. this was a great tag match featuring great wrestling, excellent announcing(tony and ross were both inspired). and a hot finish in one of the best wrestling shows in north american history.
Guest krambigmac Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 I have that match on the RF video tape which has all the Steamboat Flair matches from 89 plus the 2 from 94(although the Sat Night match clips out the first 20 min or so). It is a great long match and the whole Mr X thing being Steamboat was so cool. It was used in 91 at Clash 17 as well.

That Clash 17 match between Rhodes/Steamboat and The Enforcers is probably the best pure tag match I have ever seen. No match, not even the recent Benoit/Jericho vs. The Power Trip tag match can compare to that match on free TV. Steamer just KILLED in that match, and The Enforcers were, well GOOD. Dustin just was doing his job, being big and making the hot tag, so then Steamer gets the win. I love that match. You wanna see what tag team wrestling is ALL about? There you go.

The prematch mystery surrounding the whole dragon outfit is great and the reaction of the Enforcers is brilliant and perfect. Steamboat brought out the best in everyone and made Dustin Rhodes look good.
