Ring of honor

I just received the first Ring of Honor tape in the mail and might I say this show was amazing.  Most of the matches had meaning to them and it has allowed for me to gain new faith in wrestling.

Here is the match listing with my comments on each:

1. Hit Squad vs. Christopher St. Connection w/ Allison Danger

::basically a squash, but funny none-the-less.  will gay jokes ever get old?

2. Red vs. Jay Briscoe w/ Marc Briscoe

::great match, had technical wrestling, high flying stuff, great all around match.

3. Scoot Andrews vs. Xavier

::another great match.  very technical.  I enjoyed this one as well.

4. Natural Born Sinners vs. Boogie Knights

::I really don't know what to say about this match.  It had some good wrestling, but at some points they seemed to be moving in slllloooowwwww moootttiooon.  I liken the Natural Born Sinners to a very talented version of the Gangstas.

5. Joel Maximo vs. Jose Maximo vs. Red vs. Quiet Storm vs. Chris Divine vs. Brian XL (Ultimate Aerial Elimination Match with Mikey Whipwreck as guest referee)

::basically a spot fest, with some psychology, but still fun to watch

6. Prince Nana vs. Towel Boy

::once again another squash that was pretty funny to watch

7. Spanky & Ikaika Loa vs. Michael Shane & Oz (Shawn Michaels' Wrestling Academy Challenge)

::I have never seen any of these guys wrestle, and might I say I was very impressed.  excellent match.

8. Eddy Guerrero vs. Super Crazy (To Determine The New IWA Puerto Rico I-C Champion)

::perhaps the best match I have seen Eddy in, in a long time.  This match was at least a 4/5 star match.  wow I missed watching Super Crazy.

9. Low Ki vs. Christopher Daniels vs. American Dragon.

::words cannot describe this match (but I'll try anyway).  this was probably the best match on the tape.  lots of psychology, lots of hard assed kicks, plenty of submissions, holy shit this was great.  definately a match of the year candidate.

I cant wait to get theses tapes from RF. The cards sound so good and have been getting rave reviews. I need to get motivated and drive out there for one of 'em.

I was at the show live and I did a rant for it when I got home.  Do a search for it.

I just got mine in the mail today and just finished watching it.  The 3 Way was incredible.  The rest of the show was real good as well.  I'll be ordering the other two events that will be coming out.

I watched the last two matches before RAW last night. Here's my thoughts:

Eddie Guerrero did a great job with Super Crazy. The whole story behind the match was awesome as they totally played up the "Super Crazy is not in his league" thing until the end. Ending was awesome because Eddie thought that Super Crazy was going to hit an armdrag out of the tilt-a-whirl, but caught with a head-drag and a roll-up. Eddie was heads up like that in the match, like rolling through on a missed frog splash. Eddie is awesome. Only real problem with the match is it needed more time (much too short for where they were headed), and Super Crazy's early arm-drags (which set up the end~!) were a little sloppy. Somewhere between ***1/2 and ****

The three-way is the best match I've seen this year. The sequences were golden, there was never too much of the monotony of this gimmick, plus there was a ton of cool three guy spots. I feel sorry for Daniels and the kicks. Anyways, oh man was this good. Never really a dull moment. Needed a few minutes to build a finish (preferabbly where Daniels gets knocked out of the ring because of what he did later), but it was still real, real good. ****1/4 to ****3/4, MOTYC

Does anyone know why RFVideo is taking so damn long to release these tapes?  I mean, they just now got around to sending out the first one, and that event took place in February.  They get stuff from other countries out quicker than that!

because they do all the editing themselves, i have worked on a top level editing suite and it takes quite a bit of time to add audio and edit everything just right, and ofcourse roh is rf's baby so they are going to make the shows look as good as possible
