Guest Tony149 Report post Posted May 4, 2002 You guys make me proud. You stayed within the rules. The biggest thing to happen in wrestling at that time was the announcement WCW was going to put a Monday night show to compete against Monday Night Raw. WCW Monday Nitro is created. Ric Flair turns face for a short time. Sting is suckered in by Ric Flair for the last time. The 4 Horsemen are reformed with Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Chris Benoit. The clusterfuck know as World War 3 debuts. Interesting idea that turned out bad. The Yeti explodes from a block of ice on Nitro. Remember that? NFL star L.T. wrestles at WM XI beating Bam Bam Bigelow. WM XI has a lot of Hollywood "stars". Diesel becomes the worst drawing WWF Champion WCW has "Bash at the Beach" on a real beach just to shoot a show for "Baywatch". Mabel receives a push which brings horror to fans eyes Lex Luger shocks the wrestling world by appearing on the first ever Nitro. Vader gets in a fight backstage with Paul Orndorff. Mr. Wonderful is said to have won the fight. Vader is fired. The second to worst War Games happens Hogan & The Giant have a "Sumo-Wrestling Monstor Truck" match at Halloween Havoc '95. The Giant falls off the roof of Cobo Hall. Later returns to wrestle Hogan at Halloween Havoc The WWF debuts the "In Your House" PPV. First ever IYH the WWF gives away a house King of the Ring '
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 4, 2002 I'm surprise that nobody brought up Brian Pillman vs Lyger on Nitro. When Nitro was on TNT it changed the wrestling world for the good forever, PPV caliber matches were on "Free TV", no longer would I have to watch WWF superstars wrestle Barry Hortweizt on Monday night, there was finally another choice besides football. Was Malenko vs Benoit Road Wild match that year, that was a sweet match even though it was in Sturgess.
Guest Report post Posted May 4, 2002 Umm...did people forget BARRY HOROWITZ?????! I marked WAY the fuck out when he beat Skip. Sure, it WAS Chris Candido, but you know what...that's what makes wrestling fun, right?

That was a reason why Nitro did so well IMO. Instead of squash matches, fans were getting top names wrestling for free. Which was cool back then. Benoit vs. Malenko happened in 1996. Another thing that happened in 1995 was the start of the cruiserweight division. It started off slowly, but by the Fall of 1995 WCW would start hiring more cruisers. Guest Sykotic2002 Report post Posted May 4, 2002 Just to add to the lit, can't forget Starrcade '95. It was great seeing all the puroresu guys. The best matches were Beniot/Liger and Eddy/Otani. Masa Saito and Johnny B. Badd sucked. I loved Nitro in 1995. There were always main event matches like Hogan v. Sting, Flair v. Savage, Sting v. Flair, The Horsemen/Dungeon of Doom v. combinations of Hogan, Savage, and Sting. It was also great to see great matches with new stars like Sabu(briefly), Beniot, Malenko, and Guerrero mixed in with Pillman, Johnny B. Badd, Alex Wright, ect. I liked Luger and Giant also. I liked how the Giant was a monster and the angle with what side Luger was on. WWF really didn't have anything good. The only thing I liked was the Michaels/Razor Ramon Ladder Match from SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Bulldog/Bret from the December In Your House. Can't forget ECW. They had a great year. Things that stick out Funk in the Box, Steve Austin's debut, great matches with Beniot, Malenko, Guerrero, Douglas. Public Enemy v. Gangstas had great brawls. Liked the 2 out 3 falls Double Dog Collar match with Raven/Stevie Richards v. Pitbulls.

Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted May 5, 2002 Best match was Shawn Michaels vs. Jeff Jarrett from In Your House II. Best PPV was Survivor Series. Best angle was the re-formation with the Four Horsemen with Flair, Arn, Benoit & Pillman.
